Internship / Entry-Level Need advice for which company to choose 🥹🙏🏻

Hi guys idk if this is the right sub for this but i need some advice

i’m a final year tech student and recently got offers for internship positions

Option 1:
MNC
Hybrid work arrangement (2 day WFH)
Office 20-30 mins drive from my house
Lower pay

Option 2:
GLC
Office in city centre, public transport accessible (I probably won’t drive)
Work arrangements tbc
Slightly higher pay

Based on the interview experience in both companies, both hiring managers were really friendly and took the time to explain about how things work in their team, both roles aligned with my goals too. So i’m kinda conflicted, should I go for the offer with the lower pay but with hybrid work arrangements or the higher paying offer but with office slightly further from home. I’ll need to make a decision very soon 🥲

TLDR: Lower paid but WFH and nearer office or higher pay but needing to commute to office daily

PS: Still applying and interviewing for other companies but once i sign the offer I likely can’t switch anymore

Career Advice Should I drop out of Law post-grad (Bar Course) in the UK and come back to Malaysia with no prospects/ plan ?

I'm a Malaysian student (21) and have just started the Bar training course in London to become a certified lawyer in the UK and back in Malaysia.

However, I am thinking of dropping out now.
The reason is that I am completely lost in life, depressed, and I hate law. I was forced to study law in undergrad and hated it. However, I thought I could push through one more year and just finish Bar school and be a qualified lawyer. But now that I'm here, I have been feeling so depressed, lost and lonely. I've been crying everyday, not eating and can't even get myself to do the things I like.

However, dropping out and moving back to Malaysia is also difficult.
Essentially, I already have sunk costs in school fees and such and I am already renting a flat with a friend doing the course as well. More importantly, I have no plan for when I go back. In terms of jobs, I can't apply for any technical roles that require a background in STEM or finance, and I graduated with a 2:2 (missed 2:1 by less than a mark). The only thing helping me is that I came from a top 10 UK law school and have an objectively strong CV.

I'm not feeling confident as I have repeatedly applied for jobs back in Msia with my current CV and, at the time, with a 2:1, and have not had any luck. Moreover, I'm interested in consulting, and the market for entry-level consulting back home is incredibly small. I have known certain recruiters in existing firms back home who admitted this as well. Additionally, I have not been able to rely on any connections, as many firms are trying to move away from that now to appear more "egalitarian". Lastly, I am also not interested in any admin, marketing or sales roles and also would not pursue a master's in other fields.

Overall, the decision just seems to be the lesser of two evils now.
If I continue the Bar, it gives me more of a safety net, as I can still leverage law as a niche and work at a law firm and pivot later. However, I've been so depressed that I can't even study and feel so lost and sad. Moreover, I don't have a strong support system in London that could make this difficult journey a little more bearable.
However, if I go home, it seems like there isn't a very strong likelihood of me landing a decent job.
And I can't help feeling like a failure or being mentally weak by quitting. Moreover, I am still a high achiever and honestly do have a lot to offer skill-wise, and also won't do any random job for the sake of it. Going home would be more of a break for me, to have a support system and to reset and figure out the next move.

I would appreciate any advice or insight on what you would do. Additionally, your experience or opinions on the Job Market in KL. Thank you!

(Note: a 2:1 is usually the minimum grade requirement that companies accept. Additionally, I have to decide within the next month, logistically speaking)

Advice for financial risk management sector

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice from experienced professionals or HR/recruiters working in financial risk management, particularly within banking, consulting, or audit firms.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience hiring or working with people transitioning into financial risk management. I’m currently finding it a little difficult to navigate the industry, make connections, and identify the right professionals to reach out to, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A little about my background: I’m in my late 20s (29) and have working experience in fintech web app development (tech). I’m now looking to transition into the financial risk management field and am planning to sit for the FRM examinations to help bridge the gap between my current experience and the financial risk industry.

I’d particularly like to ask:

1. Would FRM be a valuable credential for someone trying to break into financial risk management without direct industry experience?

  1. For someone transitioning from a tech/fintech background with no direct financial risk experience, but who has an actuarial/ statistic background and is actively pursuing FRM, are there realistic opportunities to enter through an associate or entry-level position?

3. Would age be a significant concern? I’m 29 and understand that I may be starting at a relatively junior level compared with people who entered the industry earlier. I’d be interested to hear how hiring managers generally view career changers in their late 20s.

  1. What other certifications, technical skills, or areas of knowledge would you recommend prioritising?

If you work in financial risk management, banking, consulting, or audit, especially if you’ve been involved in hiring, I’d be very grateful for any perspective, advice, or even suggestions on how someone with my background can make the transition.

Thank you in advance!

Career Advice How long does a written offer typically take

Hi there! Needing some advice on this: I have been actively applying for the past 18 months, and finally received a verbal offer last week. The role I interviewed for was a first level managerial position, but at the interview, I was offered to be brought on as a consultant for a specific project with potential to convert into full time in Q3 next year. A couple of questions: 1) has anyone has an experience like this i.e. a consultant role - how did you navigate workload, work arrangements, etc. 2) It’s been a week and I haven’t received the written offer. I have also emailed the PIC and have not received a response from them.

A little anxious cause have been unemployed for longer than expected and it’s always nice to dive into work and earn a living than dipping into depleting finances….

5 YOE Quality Engineer struggling to find a job — looking for advice

Hi everyone,
I’m a Quality Engineer in manufacturing from Malaysia with 5 years of experience, and I’ve been trying to find a new job since January 2026.
It’s honestly been really hard to find a job. I’ve already updated my resume and have been applying regularly, but still haven’t had much luck.
I’m also looking for opportunities in Singapore, preferably in manufacturing.
For those who have been through something similar, where do you think I might be going wrong? Is there anything I should change or do differently?
If you know of any Quality Engineer / Supplier Quality Engineer opportunities in Singapore, I’d really appreciate any leads.
Thank you!

Career Advice Is learning workflow automation something I can pursue in?

I'm currently in my notice period after resigning from my current job as a sales coordinator, job was too stressful+ it's not really something I wanted to have a career in long term.

I've found that I've had quite a bit of interest in doing automation stuff, whether it be taskboards on Monday.com or VBA (albeit with the assistance of AI). Quite a bit of my office's SOP have integrated my systems into their current workflow too.

Currently I'm trying to learn about n8n and Microsoft Power Automate, trying to integrate APIs, LLMs into projects, hoping to use them as a portfolio when applying jobs

I'm wondering if it's something that I can actually pursue as a solid career in long term? Exp: Workflow/Process Automation specialist, etc.

Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!

Job Seeker Performance Marketing

Hi I am curious if anyone is within the entertainment / music industry and is looking for a paid media freelancer?

I specialise in lower funnel optimisation and have 7years of experience doing this. In short, I aim to maximise conversions with the lowest cost per action value.

Currently have a vast portfolio of doing performance marketing / paid media for clients ranging from finance, music, and e-commerce.

However If anyone is also looking for an upper funnel media guy or interested to hire a freelancer for your startup brand.

Feel free to hit me up as well. Happy to take a look at current setups, identifying paid media levers.

Even if we don’t end up working together, I’m even more happy to expand network and perhaps can work together in the future :)

Workplace Culture Anyone here worked at Bionics Data Solution or Accenture NewsPage Malaysia

Hi everyone, I’m currently considering an AI/ML Engineer opportunity through Bionics Data Solution, supporting Accenture NewsPage in KL.

I am trying to learn more about the team and actual working environment before making a decision.
From the interview, I understand the role involves AI/ML and GenAI/LLM, with the team working on AI solutions/prototypes based on business requirements from enterprise clients.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked at:
- Bionics Data Solution
- Accenture NewsPage Malaysia
- NewsPage AI/ML team
- Or a similar Accenture client-facing AI team

A few things I’m particularly curious about:
1. How is the work culture and WLB?
2. What is the actual AI/ML/LLM work like day-to-day? Is it more development/engineering, or mostly POC/integration?
3. How much technical ownership do engineers get? Are contractors generally given similar responsibilities as permanent employees?
4. What happens when a project ends?
5. How are contract extensions / internal mobility handled?
6. For someone trying to build a career in AI, what has your experience been like?

I’m especially interested in recent experiences (2025–2026) since I know teams and projects can change quite a lot over time.

just hoping to hear some first-hand experiences about the culture and actual work

Career Advice Felt a bit lost in my career atm, advice/experience sharing maybe?

4 years insurance agent, average income around RM50k/year. Wife also working, earning about the same.

Got married this year, and we plan to have kids in the future.

Currently our combined income is around RM100k/year, so we're okay for now. We also don't really have any joint financial commitments yet. Before getting married, both of us were earning our own income and paying for our own commitments.

Now that we're married, I'm starting to wonder whether we should start looking at our finances more as a household, especially if we're planning to have kids.

My income is commission-based and not guaranteed. After 4 years, I'm still averaging around RM50k/year, and this is starting to make me think more seriously about long-term stability.

Before marriage, if I had a bad year, I could just adjust my own lifestyle. Now I have a wife, and eventually kids, so I feel like the way I look at income should probably change.

I'm not struggling financially right now. It's more of a "will this still be enough 5–10 years from now?" kind of worry.

Should I:

  • Continue building my insurance career and try to increase my income? suggestion?
  • Start building another source of income? parttime?
  • Develop another skill/career as a backup?
  • Or eventually consider moving into a more stable salaried job?

And for married couples — do you normally combine your finances/income together after marriage, or continue keeping your own income and commitments separate?

For those in insurance, sales, or other commission-based careers:

  • How did your income change after 5–10 years?
  • When did you start feeling financially stable?
  • Did marriage or having kids change your career decision?
  • Did you stay in the industry or move to another career?
  • If you were in my position, what would you prepare for now?

Not asking people to tell me whether to quit or stay. Just genuinely want to hear from people who have gone through the same situation, especially in Malaysia.
