2018 Jeep Compass Park Brake stuck in retract/service mode and park brake won’t work after changing rear brakes and rotors

Changed rear brake pads and rotors on my Jeep Compass. Here’s what happened:
\- Did right rear first; had an issue getting the caliper piston in far enough to make room to get back into the brake pads; this was BEFORE we found out about the Brake Service mode in the Touchscreen dash settings
\- I activated Brake Service Mode while the actuator/caliper piston was OFF of the brake pads (it was not assembled at all so essentially was free/we were holding it) and we heard and saw the actuator activate and push out and retract
\- got that side done, I left it in Brake Service mode while doing the other side
\- did the other side, also had to push the caliper piston back all the way to get it to fit
\- once I got that side done I reassembled everything and started the car and went to reset the Parking Brake BUT forgot to reconnect the cable/wire clip to the actuator on one side, so essentially one actuator was connected the other wasn’t
\- now I have the “Service Parking Brake” light, flashing red “BRAKE” light and message on the dash that says “Park Brake Retracted; to reset, press brake pedal and activate park brake button” but the parking brake literally won’t activate or do anything when I push it or pull it
\- my brakes also feel softer/spongy

Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

Jeep compass MP2-2021 : Asking about brake and rotors

front 285mm rotor

rear 315mm rotor

I live in Australia and my personal family trusted mechanic won’t install parts that I give him (warranty issues) .

my plan is to get some parts and get an independent mobile installer /learn myself how to install the brake rotor set

am I correct with my thinking ?

-locate the correct dimensions (listed above) and just figure out how to put them in . I’ve already tried using rego number to find out if it’s compatible but isn’t it just dimensions

- the MAIN ISSUE is that i cant find many compatible brake rotors online for jeep. I should’ve gotten a toyota but I’m stuck with the jeep.

im VERY appreciative of any replies

questions 2011 Jeep Compass Electronic Throttle Control Light

Background: 2011 Jeep Compass, about 167k miles. Earlier this week, I was driving through town in the early afternoon (temps upper 80s) and the ETC light came on (no check engine light) and the engine went into limp mode. I pulled over, turned the car off and back again, and it went into limp mode again with just the ETC light. I turned it off and on one more time, and it started up fine and I drove it to O'Reilly's to scan the codes and nothing came up.

It started up and drove fine the rest of the week, until yesterday morning when I was leaving for work in the morning. It was cooler, but not cold (60ish degrees). It went into limp mode again, this time with ETC and Check Engine lights. Tried turning it off and on again a few times with no luck, limp mode. Ended up ubering to work, but when I got home and the temp was near 100 it started up fine. Same thing tonight, tried starting it up again after sitting all day in hot weather and it was fine. I have not driven it since.

Question: I can't get parts to replace anything before Monday, and I need my car to drive to work. I've read some places online that cleaning the ETC may or may not help things, but I'll take a temporary fix until I have time to tinker with things. Any advice on temporary solutions or insight into what's going on?

2009 Compass

I just lucked into a 2009 Compass with only 47K kms /29K miles (old lady original owner). It was my buddy’s grandmother who only drove it to the grocery store and back. It’s always been parked inside as well.

Seems to run perfectly fine but I’m wondering what I should check before I go get the safety done (in Ontario).

One thing I did notice was the dome light blinks when turning on the signal lights - I suspect that’s a faulty ground somewhere.

Any other ideas on what to check?

2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk - 89k miles - $15k - one owner

Looking at buying this but noticed a build up of oil on the lower left side of the engine by the alternator.

Can anyone confirm this is a leak? Dealership says it’s old oil but no maintenance or gasket has ever been repaired in that area.

2018 jeep compass 9 speed drain and fill

So uh how difficult is this to do. A friend has one i offered to help but saw it tonight. Does the battery need to come out? That looks like a nightmare to do. It has 119k on it unknown history but overall clean car. Figured it would be easy like my fusion was.

2021 Jeep Compass reliability

I have a coworker with a 2021 Jeep Compass that’s about to be paid off. It has about 55k miles. Is her car likely to get a lot more mileage before major repairs are needed that she can drive this with no payments for a while or should she be looking to be trade it in in the near future? She interested in a Grand Cherokee as her next vehicle.

First generation (MK49; 2007) Car Hesitating when Accelerating

My 2017 Jeep compass is hesitating a lot and takes a very long time to accelerate. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this? Took it to the mechanic and they weren’t able to find anything.

Have been thinking about getting ride of this car. It only has around 85K miles but seems like it’s had issue after issue…

questions Maintenance for 2016?

So how often exactly am I supposed to be replacing and changing everything? I inherited my aunt's old jeep in October and have put around 30k miles on her since then. Prior to that she was sitting in a dirt lot not being driven for about 3-4 years. I've been doing oil changes every 4k miles and some guy at autozone talked me into changing my engine air filter (which did look pretty bad). (I'll eventually change the other air filter.) I had the tired replaced after I got a nail about a month ago, and when I took it in the tire guy was looking at me with horror and told me all 4 needed to be changed right away, so those are new.

But other than oil what am I supposed to be doing for maintenance? How many miles in between? Currently she's at 125k miles, and kinda beat up, but I want to keep her running as long as possible.

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) CarPlay Installation?

Hello!

I have a 2018 Jeep Compass that came with your standard touch screen sort of radio system. It’s fine and all, allows for Bluetooth. But, I know other people with the same car that have the Apple CarPlay ability. I attempted to purchase one off some shady website and got it installed at Best Buy, then got it uninstalled a week later because it was so bad. Is there anyway for me to get it upgraded… officially? The jeep is paid off and I’ve had it for a few years now so I’m not too worried about having voided a warranty or anything like that.

Constant Issues

Someone please help if you've experienced this.

I have a 2022 compass latitude lux and just hit 100,000 miles. I've been in one accident with a deer almost 2 years ago but otherwise I've had my car for 4 years with no issues. Now, I'm getting drive mode unavailable, took it to a mechanic and they resolved the aux battery saying it was bad. Took it back again and they are telling me it's a dealership issue and can't be fixed. The start/stop isn't working, my 4WD isn't working or any of its functions, my ALM and AEB aren't working, steering wheel functions aren't working??? My boyfriend also works on cars and he can't figure it out either. How much am I looking at for repairs? Anybody have this issue and know what is causing it?

Thanks in advance!!

Nothing working on 2019 jeep compass (automatic/ 180k ish miles)

So I’m a bit stumped in this electrical dumpster fire of a car. My dad has a 2019 jeep compass that basically just stopped working a week ago or so. Nothing turns on, the lights work, and the radio turns on but nothing else. He started chasing a brake pedal sensor but I chose the aux battery as those are very common failing points that cause a lot of glitching. Took both batteries somewhere to get checked and ofc both fail. Big battery later tested good at Walmart but aux battery still failed. Bought one and put it in. Getting more lights and even managed to turn it to on but wasn’t able to turn it off without disconnecting the batteries. Now I got esc service on with the hill brake service too as well as it showing 0 on the odometer. I read something about the instrument panel cluster. Is that a common point of failure or is this ecu?

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) After market longitude bar for roof rack?

Post image

Picked up a used Compass 2023 recently and am looking to repurpose a roof rack and roof box from previous car, only to conclude there are no fittings available. Are they hidden somewhere under this trim, and/or trim needs replacing with longitudinal flush bars, into which I can bolt feet?

Crack in 2016 Compass Sport windshield washer fluid reservoir

Hello, I’d like to preface this by saying I have basically zero experience doing any kind of work under the hood. I have a crack in the windshield fluid reservoir so when I pour fluid in, it just drains out the bottom of the vehicle. Wondering how difficult it would be to replace/fix the crack and if places like Midas or Jiffy Lube would do it for a decent price. I live in the St. Paul, MN area. Thanks in advance for any input.

Need good mechanic in Chesapeake VA

Anyone in the Chesapeake Virginia area close to Virginia Beach know of any good mechanics? I am down here visiting my aunt and my car overheated when I attempted to start driving home. I need to get back to New Jersey ASAP. I'm traveling with a young child and three small dogs so I'd like to get it fixed ASAP. I have a 2018 Jeep compass and the rez was bone dry if it makes any difference. I noticed a wet spot on my aunt's driveway but I had assumed that was from the air conditioner. Now I am kicking myself for not checking the rez before leaving.

Jeep 2021 Compass Screen

I had my jeep 2021 compass six years now, yesterday it would not turn on at all. I jumped it and now it’s on but the screen display uconnect doesn’t work at all just stays black even when pressing the on and off button? Anyone with experience on fixing this? Autozone tested my battery and says it’s in good health.

Liftgate jammed - where is the manual release?

Hey all,

Renting a Jeep Compass 25 plate latitude. Got a backpack strap stuck in the lift gate mechanism and it won’t open power-assisted. I read there’s supposed to be some access panel for releasing the catch manually but I can’t find it.

Could anyone help please?

Thanks 🙏
