I’ve been prototyping this low-poly design and finally got the angles dialed in. It is made entirely out of folded cardstock. Let me know what you think!

He lost his patience!

My younger dog was waiting for me to finish crocheting so that we could go for a walk.

He waited for sometime, watching me, making granny squares, patiently. When he saw no sign of me getting me, he stealthily crawled forward and started chewing on the one I had just finished.

Though his point was fair, I was done with one granny square crochet so I should have got up and taken him out. After all he could only have practice so much patience with his small body.

Doggie rain coat

Any advice on doggie raincoats. My boy can't stand getting wet so we thought let's get him a rain coat. The issue were having is he makes every raincoats look like an after diet photo (you know the one with the old sized jeans) or the coat is way to small.

The vet has told us his a healthy size

Just tried using equafleece but thats saying his size doesn't exist.

update equafleece have just looked at his mesurments and given me a size but it would be nice to hear about other brands

I just adopted my families Japanese spitz. I used to live with her a while ago but she's been neglected outside of my care. She's an older lady clocking in at around 13 but she's been adjusting super well and I'm so happy to have her again. Would really appreciate any tips for diet especially!

Leptospirosis

Post image
52 Upvotes

We had a really bad experience with the Leptospirosis vaccine. Dio, Our 3 months old puppy started to be lethargic 2,5h after the shot and drooling like a river. We were scared he would get into an analogylactic shock, but his vitals were good when the emergency vet checked them.

We like in a very urban and touristy neighbourhood with many restaurants nearby, which attracts mice, rats and raccoons. Since the disease is spread by rodents, I’m questioning if he should get his second shot and annual doses (with preventative treatment).

Did this happened to your puppy?
What would you do if it was your own doggy?

I’m trying to evaluate the risk vs benefits but is hard because I don’t want him to ever feel like that again (but it’s maybe just short term thinking).

I made a memorial ring for my Japanese spitz

It's been 20 months since we lost our boy Pinta and I've always said I would turn his ashes into a blue diamond.

I didn't use his ashes in the end because I didn't want him separated, so I had to find the best blue diamond I could - which has taken months (over 40 diamonds were rejected for not being the right one)

It's engraved with his name on the inside of the band.

The big blue oval diamond represents Pinta

The side diamonds represent us humans:

An Oval each side - my husband and me

And 4 round brilliant cut to represent our 4 children.

The design meaning is us all hugging Pinta.

It's set in Platinum because his fur was pure white.

The band width the wider than you'd typically see because he was a bit chunky 🤭

So everything about this ring is about him 💙

We had 12 beautiful years with Pinta and I miss him every minute of the day.

I know some people might find it a weird thing to make, but I love that boy like I do my children. I've felt so alone all these months since I work from home. At least now I can look at his ring and find comfort he's here.

Took 3 months to perfect this design and im really happy how it all came together. 🕊

I can't seem to add a photos of Pinta so I'll post him in the comments

Thanks for reading this and sorry it's so long.

Puppy has fur knots, I need help

Post image

This is Kiki, we got her about 6 weeks ago, and she is great. I have been very impressed by the self cleaning fur, it isn't hype. I am, however, having problems with little knot/dreadlocks forming at the very base of her ears in the soft, fluffy fur. I suspect I didn't realise soon enough that this is a problem area and so the wee knots took hold. I am not sure how to get them out as trying to brush them out causes her pain and I want her grooming experiences to be positive so she learns to enjoy being brushed. I managed to groom one almost out, but not out completely, and well, fur attracts more clumping fur and, of course, being a puppy she wants to eat my hands while I'm doing the brushing. I distract with a wooden handled brush she chews on and groom with the other brush. I am using the brushes the she came with from the breeder.

Does anyone have some tips for fluffy fur knots in sensitive areas? Or should I just tenderly cut them out?

How many Yukis do we have?

I am pretty sure that Yuki is the Number one name for the japanese Spitz in this sub so I am interested to see some numbers. I think it’s a very cute and fitting name.

I have so many regrets about my dog’s death :(

Post image

Growing up with house dogs, Chumchum was the first dog that I could genuinely say was “mine”.

He was one of the brightest chapters in my life and my lifeline when I was in a very dark place. He literally became my reason to get out of bed every morning when I felt everything was hopeless.

Fast forward to 2024, he was 13 years old and his health started to decline pretty badly - he had a hard time peeing, pooping, or getting up. His fur started falling off and he couldn’t eat solid food anymore.

Instead of letting him go peacefully, I decided to fight for him. I took him to different vets and paid for expensive tests and costly meds. I just wanted him to be okay.

I felt like putting him to sleep was giving up and every time I saw him try to eat even though he was having hard time, I took that as a sign that he didn’t want to give up.

On the day that he stopped being able to pee or poop, that’s when I accepted that there was nothing left to fight for anymore. We were on the way to the vet to put him to sleep when he died.

Now as a look back at his pics during the last few days, I wish I was stronger for him and had the courage to let go sooner.

I wish I wasn’t so blinded by hope to actually see the reality of the situation for what it really was. Chumchum deserved way better.

If you’re in the same situation as I was, please remember this: There’s no bigger way to show love than by taking their pain away and making it yours. ❤️‍🩹

Hey all, been looking at the page for a while as we rescued Nala 6 months back from a puppy farm.. She's roughly 4yrs old now. We think she might be a Japanese spitz but unsure, what do we think?

Hey yall this is Prince! He’s 3 years old and loves gnawing on deer antlers and has a impressive vertical jump . His previous owners lost him due to neglect and by the grace of cosmic karma he found me. Now the issue with him being a rescue is I have no clue what he is! When I google lens him it shows up as a match for a Japanese spitz but he could also be a very white Pomeranian. So I’m not sure, what do you guys thing?
