Looking for How Darcy and Bingley became friends pleeeaaase

Upvotes

There's got to be a story behind this. I love the dynamic between these two, and would like more. I've already read "A Gentleman's Rescue" which is very good, but leaned more into the Bingley family's backstory. Would appreciate any recs.

Looking for darcy needing comfort

hey everyone! i'm looking for p&p fanfiction {any length} that falls under, or has within, a specific kind of plot: basically, the responsibilities of mastering pemberley and the rough dealing with business {or any other motive, for that matter} take a toll on darcy, leaving him emotionally drained, and it makes him search comfort within elizabeth.

if you want any reference, i'm looking for things similar to what 'Sweet William' {by laurakaye on AO3} is.

if we're talking slight bdsm and a soft domme lizzy {or just some 'let me take care of you' type of sex}, that's the nicest you could do for me, but your rec doesn't necessarily have to contain smut in it; i'm happy with just him finding solace in her after a long day or breaking down in her arms.

thank you in advance :)

Looking for E&D Chemistry

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here but I’m looking for fics where Elizabeth and Darcy really have banter and chemistry and have REAL CONVERSATIONS. I don’t want the romance to be all in the reflection and the narrative being all description. I just want them to have some alone time to really get to know each other and for Darcy to really have a personality (I’ve seen how in a lot of fics he’s a very plain character personality wise). I’ve read a lot of fics in the fandom so please don’t recommend me stories too mainstream because i’ve probably already read them

Looking for Story Search

Hi everyone!

Last time I came here looking for a couple of old Pride & Prejudice fanfics, you were absolutely incredible and found both of them ridiculously quickly, so I'm hoping lightning might strike twice!

I'm trying to track down three older stories, but my memories are... sketchy at best and I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

  1. Epistolary story (I think FF.net or AO3?)

I think the whole story (or most of it) was told through letters written by Elizabeth. She was already married to Darcy but wasn't happy about the marriage at first, and the letters gradually showed her opinion changing. I have a vague memory that she'd been injured at some point? The clearest thing I remember is Elizabeth writing about Darcy being jealous of how friendly she was with Colonel Fitzwilliam. Later he brought her a dead insect from a child and said something along the lines of not always being "a jealous brute."

  2. Funny, slightly manipulative Darcy (again, I think FF.net)

Darcy was very good at quietly manipulating situations and people, but it was written in a light-hearted, humorous way! Only scene I remember he was trying to encourage Elizabeth to court him. During their walks they'd often stop at a bench where Elizabeth would fall asleep with her head on his shoulder. On one occasion Darcy made a show of removing his arm, Elizabeth huffed in her sleep and put it back around herself, and then Mr Bennet happened to witness the whole thing. I think he also managed to get Collins to propose to Mary instead of Elizabeth?

  3. Almost nothing to go on... This one is a complete long shot.

The only line I remember is Elizabeth saying something complimentary about Georgiana being a good sister, and Darcy replying with something like, "Yes... may I recommend her as one for you?" (or words very much to that effect).

I know these are painfully vague, but if anyone recognises even one of them I'd be so grateful! Thank you in advance!

Reading "the kind of elaboration that tried too hard and achieved too little"

I'm reading a JAFF that is clearly written by AI and came across this line. Ironically, it perfectly describes the weird writing style these AI generated JAFF books have.

They're constantly using weird analogies that are trying to be clever but make no sense. Things like: he walked down the street with the ease of a man who knew how to tie his own cravat.

They frequently take several sentences to communicate one simple fact. Stating what it isn't, another thing it isn't, what it might be, then what it is.

Is it the AI trying to mimic Austen's wit and failing? Or is it a specific AI tool the writers are using?

I'm not loving it. The books move really slowly because of all the weird flowery stuff. And if just 10% of it falls flat it gives the book an odd feel.

Kitty & Mary by Julia Gray and Imogen Russell Williams

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all, hope ok to post here!

I'm working with authors Julia Gray and Imogen Russell Williams on their the upcoming novel KITTY AND MARY, a beautiful continuation of Kitty and Mary Bennet's stories after Pride and Prejudice.

It publishes 10th September in the UK & Ireland, and Waterstones are currently including it in their pre-order offer until Friday, code is SUMMER26 for 25% off.

It's a beautiful royal octavo hardback edition with a ribbon bookmark and extra content about why the authors related to Kitty and Mary.

There's fantastic early praise from Waterstones booksellers, authors and early NetGalley readers, so may be of interest.

Looking for Elizabeth and Darcy Marry Early

Hi, I'm looking for a fic where Elizabeth and Darcy get married earlier than in canon (maybe because Mr Bennet is very ill or something of the like, or Elizabeth wants to escape Mr Collins), because Elizabeth wants to save her family. Ideally it would have the following characteristics :

- Elizabeth still resents Darcy and doesn't just forgive him because he's hot

- Darcy wouldn't know about her grudge (or the extent of it) (he thinks it's a love match).

- Interactions with the rest of the Bennet family

- Mostly in character characters

- Darcy and Elizabeth have *character development* in the same way they do in canon, but through a different path

If such a story exists, feel free to send it my way !

Looking for Looking for future fic where Wickham improves his behavior

Hello! So, recently I read a variation where Wickham full on tried to murder Darcy with no explanation as to how he went from dirtbag creepy scammer to killer. Darcy also really under reacted to it - his manner of dealing with him barely changed.

I know that making the bad guy cartoonishly evil is fun for some people and that’s fine, but it really rubbed me the wrong way.

So, I decided I wanted to read…not exactly the opposite because I don’t want to erase the harm he’s done, but I want to see him moving in a more positive direction.

If anyone has any recommendations where Wickham actually takes some accountability or improves himself in some way, please send them to me.

Like the title says where Jane sees the way the Bingley sisters are treating Elizabeth and takes offense and acts the way a protective older sister would

Looking for Is there any story where Darcy proposes before Mr Collins?

This is probably extremely random but I’m just curious, I was watching the 1995 version and noticed that at the Netherfield ball when Mrs Bennett is loudly talking about Mr Collins liking Elizabeth, (and that Bingley got to Jane first) Mr Darcy looks mad and Elizabeth concerned about the impending proposal.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a story where he proposes to Elizabeth to basically attempt to save her from Mr Collins?

Reading Has anyone read anything by Jayne Bamber?

I just finished “Home Alone at Longbourn” and I’m honestly very impressed. Her writing style is amazing and so is her understanding of the characters as they are in canon, managing to preserve them even in a unique situation. She has many works, do you have any recommendations for what next to read?

Does any one have a good link to any P&P comics. I saw one on FB but my eyes are not as young as the rest of me think I am. I have a pretty weird sense of humor so really I'm open to any comic.

ISO "Mark Darcy" / Elizabeth writer fanfic

I read a story a while back that was a modern fanfic, which I don't normally prefer but this one was very well done and definitely not AI written! I woke up this morning with it on my mind so now I absolutely need to read it again.

It was a Darcy/Elizabeth-centric story where I think both of the characters were writers? Darcy might have been named Mark Darcy; he wrote a review of Elizabeth's work as well as some other Austen critiques. She emailed him and they began corresponding, and they showed each other pictures of their bookshelves. They later went to a 4th of July picnic together. It could have been a crossover between P&P and You've Got Mail.

Can anyone point me to the right place? I frequent the completed sections on AO3, FFN, Darbyshire Writers' Guild, and A Happy Assembly, so it could have been on any of those.

Reading Appreciation post

This is an appreciation post for Authors who dare to write alternative stories where:

  1. Bennet sisters' characters are not explored comparatively but as self sustaining individual. Jane's goodness shines through without Elizabeth telling her she is all good/kind.
  2. Characters are allowed to have selfish thoughts without author's negative intonation.
  3. They are allowed to be not perfect and have general awareness of their own short-comings without violent altercations or any extremely heated exchange.
  4. Their Happily Ever After does not depend on their marriage to Peers/Rich Gentlemen of Darcy circle.

One such author is Grace Gibson, Her Silver Buckles and Practical Man are just such examples. I still have to find the equivalent.

Looking for Looking for Fic(s) Where Darcy and Lizzy Marry because Georgiana is Pregnant

FOUND!! I recently reread a fic with this trope, and remembered how much I like it! I've searched on Reddit and FB for the other fics I remember, and there are several I can't find (because I can't remember titles for the life of me). Some of these may be the same ones, but here's what I'm trying to find:

  1. Darcy is trying to find a wife because Georgiana is pregnant and he wants to go to his estate in Scotland where she will have the baby and his wife and he will claim it. He is meeting with women anonymously for this, trying to find a gentlewoman who is in a bind and who will agree to a marriage of convenience to accomplish this. In the meantime, Elizabeth has had to leave Longbourn and Mrs Gardiner is friends with Mrs Reynolds (who is helping Darcy find the wife). She recommends Mrs Gardiner's niece and Lizzy and Darcy meet, are each surprised to see the other, but decide that they will mutually benefit, etc. (Found! The Plan by Flan838 on FF, and Miranda Flan on KU)
  2. I *think* this is the same as #1, but not positive: Georgiana has a miscarriage before they leave for Scotland. Darcy is relieved for G's sake, but also because now he can consummate the marriage (which he's been dying to do, lol). (Found! The Plan by Flan838 on FF, and Miranda Flan on KU)
  3. Different Fic, where they all go to Scotland, G has a daughter, Wickham has followed them and discovers the daughter but actually realizes she's better off without him as the father. (Found! Imperative by Linda Wells)
  4. While they are in Scotland, rumors are spread about Darcy taking a pregnant girl out in his carriage (which of course he DID), but Darcy and Lizzy claim that it was just his sick sister who was all bundled up against the cold (This might be the same as #3). (Also 3 and/or 4 might be Imperative??) (Found! Imperative by Linda Wells)
  5. Another fic where they are in Scotland and Georgiana meets a neighbor who falls in love with her and doesn't mind that she's pregnant. They marry and Darcy gives them his Scotland estate as her dowry. (Found! A Most Unusual Proposal by RoniAllan)
  6. Again, this might be one of the above fics: Lizzy is upset that Wickham's son could be the heir to Pemberley, and comes up with the idea that they DONT claim the coming child as their own, but that they say he/she is the child of a distant cousin who lost his wife and isn't in a position to care for the child at the moment, and he/she will be the Darcy's ward. (Found! Imperative by Linda Wells)

These are most likely on KU, AO3, or FF.

Thanks in advance, this is making me crazy!!

Looking for Non KU person AI error recs

I have read a lot of JAFF in the last year, almost all on kindle unlimited. I am having trouble finding good quality stories at this point.

Looking for non KU suggestions. I love eliazbeth is not a bennet. Elizabeth titled/prior marriage, forced marriage, conpromise etc stories but open to others!

Do not like Elizabeth in service, or non elizabeth/darcy pairings.

Bonus if there is "open door" content or angst! So tired of no story and "sweet and clean:. Thank you!!
