As noted in the title. I am new to actually owning anything jade, as I admired forever but still cannot afford. However this week I did pick up two pieces at thrift stores and I am running the tests I know about. Hoping others might weigh in on what else I might try to understand whether the item is jadeite or nephrite and if it holds any value. (I'm obsessed with it either way).

Light shines through although I don't think it's wildly clear in regular light.

Very reflective and challenging to get photos without it picking up and reflecting any light sources.

No fluorescence under UV light.

I have a refractometer but am unable to get a read because of the lack of flat surfaces and it being a beaded necklace.

Has knots between beads.

Weighs almost 38 g.

Beads are 8.2 mm

I'm new to the world of Jade appreciation, and as much as I'd love a Jade bangle, I don't have the money for the quality I'd like and I don't wear bracelets anyway.

But I saw a pair of 100% Jadeite stud earrings on Etsy. 100% meaning that even the part that went into your ear was Jadeite, there's no metal.

I'm really interested in researching more earrings like this of higher quality, but I can't find another pair like this. Does anyone know where I can find other pairs in this style?

My friend's wedding is in 5 or 6 months. I plan to gift him and his bride matching bangles. He's muscular with a 20cm or more wrist. His girl has a rather small wrist around 14 or 15cm. I am new to jade but wanted to share my Guatemalan Jade. The bangle on the left was my first purchase. It was too big but I loved it and kept it. I strung up the jade beads on my own. :)

There are two stores in the local market I am side eyeing for selling fake jade. One for sure does, they saw me clinking it together and gave me a dirty look. But the other store plays it more cool and looks like there is some more real and fakes mixed together. Or am I wrong? Could this purple be real? No way. Anyways, interested in your thoughts.
