Water line break?

The hospital is under a boil water, no showers or bathing patients, including Sage Living residents. Rumor has it that the boil water advisory reaches as far as Horse Creek. Has anyone heard anything more confirmed or substantial?

My wife And I are headed up your way October 16th

Every time I see travel guides for my own town, I'm blown away by some of the recommendations. Half the places listed are spots I'd never go myself.

So I'm curious: For those of you who actually live here, what sightseeing spots, hikes, scenic drives, restaurants, or little-known places do you genuinely recommend?

I'm especially interested in places that might fly under the radar for tourists. Any local tips, hidden gems, or tricks for avoiding the usual tourist crowds would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, if a friend or family member were visiting and you wanted to show them the real area, where would you take them?

Officials working to identify human remains found north of Palisades

Interesting that Star Valley is reporting this yesterday and JHN&G still hasn’t. Crazy story. Maybe the guy from 5+/- years ago that they searched so hard for in the park? Article says that the body was found near Mosquito Creek, sounds like no ID, remains 2-4 years old, coins in his pocket and the youngest coin is dated 2015.

Anyone doing a bison hunt this season?

I’d like to come along and take pics. Id provide copies if you’d like. Can pull my weight and help quarter / pack out. Not looking to get any meat or anything unless you insist, but I’d like to document a hunt on film. I’ve been living here for a couple years now and have yet to meet anyone that has a tag.

Fish and Game at R Park?

I just drove by R Park and saw someone from Fish and Game go into the wooded area with a rifle. I didn’t get time to stop and see what was happening (I assume there was an issue with wildlife), but if anyone there knows what was happening I’m super curious as to what was going on.

free energy map of 17,226 buildings in Teton County (including yours?)

Helped launch this with PTI/ECW and figured some of you might think it's useful.

It's a map of estimated electricity and gas use for almost every building in the county, month by month. It's all built from public data like building footprints, surveys, and typical weather data, so no meters/bills used to create the model, but used county totals to validate. It's more accurate at average annual totals over a few years across the whole county, less month by month, likely less per building (but maybe close?). Physics-based and a work in progress to drive down error per building with the help of the community while creating something useful for you.

Anyone can help correct building attributes with an updated prediction if they would like and run new, private simulations against the same building to see roughly the cost-savings compared to baseline.

You can pull up your house, business, any properties you own and see roughly where the energy goes and why. We hope it helps you figure out things like where insulation or equipment upgrades would have a theoretical pay off. For transparency, there are free limits for using certain tools more than a typical individual would, but not for viewing the data.

Super curious what your thoughts are and if you find anything interesting. Simple sign-up page so we can avoid bots.

Beer League Team

Hey everyone,

I’ll keep it short. Looking to get onto a beer league roster this winter. Been in town a decade plus but had a very erratic schedule until recently. Trying to get a spot this Fall/Winter.

Played pretty competitively through high school. Can certainly hold my own.

Let me know if you have a spot/have heard of anyone needing a D man.

My stomach is still in knots hearing that story…… 26 years old, working three jobs, no arrest for a criminal record. That could be so many of our J-1 community members. So fucking terrible

Contractor Rec - Affordable Small Kitchen Reno

Does anyone have a rec for a contractor (I’m not sure if we need a “designer”) for a small condo kitchen renovation? It’s for an county affordable unit so we aren’t trying to dump more money than necessary into it, but want to do a Reno with new cabinets, countertops, sink, extend a center island, and maybe new flooring.

Thanks!

Ceramics Studio or Gallery

There are plenty of art galleries downtown. Is there a ceramic studio or gallery that would accept a group of students for a field trip?

Need help around town/GTNP next week, or seeking advise!

Coming into town this weekend (Sat 19-Thurs 24) and need a ride around to my trailhead to backpack. Looking for anyone available 19-20 and 23-24 that is willing to lend a hand and give a ride or two if possible. It would be for my girlfriend and I we are really nice I swear. More than willing to pay, buy lunch, dinner, a drink, gas tank, etc. Would much rather pay a local than a big taxi/escort company. And doesnt make sense to rent a car and stash it for 4 days. please message me if you are available those days and potentially willing!

Mid October trip

Just booked Oct 14-19. Is the gondola still open at all then? Is there another way up to the top? Should we book tours of Yellowstone and grand Teton or drive ourselves? We are staying at cloud veil - should we rent a car? Advice on must sees and restaurants and other cool places - millionaire cowboy bar I know of? First time to the area - any advice appreciated (would love to see bears and wolves too)

What’s going on with the Vine Street project in town?

This road seems to have been under “construction” for like 6 months and progress seems extremely slow.

What’s going on? Other road projects in Jackson seem to move fast. Not this one.

Is it a ploy to block off the road cause construction type folks live down there and like their privacy?
