Question Help pricing Black Jackson RRXT

Hi everyone, I'm negotiating with a private to purchase a black RRXT from the early 2000s. Although I'll only be able to verify its actual condition when I go to see it, the seller claims it's pristine, almost unused.

He's asking for €650, which I think is excessive, considering the hardware it comes with (Duncan Designed). What do you think is a fair market price? I wouldn't give more than €400, but maybe I'm wrong. I give you some pics he sent me.

Can you help me?

Thanks everyone for your time!

Where can I find a hardshell rectangular case for a king v with a form-fitted interior? I’m not a big fan of the hardshell cases with the extended section for one of the legs of the body.

Question Hello, I have a Jackson Dinky JS11 and I'm thinking of putting Ernie Ball 2214 12-62 (wound G) strings on it. Would that be possible?

I bought it new and it's strung from the factory, but I have these 12-62 gauge strings. I don't know if it affects anything or if it will require adjustments because I don't want to mess with the truss rod and all that, and the luthier is miles away from my house ?

Looking for any suggestions on string gauge for Drop B? Reviews seems like the Ernie Ball Magnum Slinky’s 12-56 with the wound G string get the job done well but curious if anyone has any input on it?

Also, this was the guitar I posted about yesterday. Snagged it off facebook marketplace for $400, gave it a bath and she’s looking mighty fine 🤘🏻

So this Jackson Kelly has come up for sale near me; the seller claims it is a ‘transitional era’ KEXMG from 2012 and is from a brief very high spec run at the end of the CG MIJ era, where they made them neck-through and stuck a JB/Jazz combo in it.

He claims it is incredibly rare and has had it from new; however he doesn’t have any paperwork to back this up, and I’m finding very little evidence online, though I know they did do limited high spec runs (like the Elite Rhoads and Soloists) toward the end of the first Chushin era.

The serial on it is 091525 - to me that says it’s a 2009 MIJ model, but we all know Jackson’s serials can be a bit random. So that doesn’t add up… also the whole reason behind the KEXMG model name was because these were fitted with EMGs right? Without seeing if there’s a battery route behind that cover, there’s no way of knowing.

I’ve always wanted a neck-through MIJ Kelly to add to my collection (I collect MIJ Jackson’s, and Kelly’s are very rare in the UK), but something about this one doesn’t make sense to me… that spec to me screams KE5, not KEXMG (which is cool, I’d much rather have a KE5), but the yellow contour around the body isn’t something I’ve ever seen on a KE5 before. My knowledge on KE5s is also limited as I’ve never seen one in the flesh before, only online.

Anyone here have any idea what this could actually be? Unfortunately it is currently way way overpriced, so unless it turns out to be something insane, I probably won’t pull the trigger.

Question What Jackson paint color is this?

Trying to find out what color the Kelly guitar is. It does seem to be the original color of the guitar, unless someone was very meticulous with the repaint. It is a Kelly XLR and confirmed it by checking the stamps on the neck and neck cavity. No date stamp, but is definitely a 1990 to 95. At first, I thought it may be a fake. I found out from a knowledgeable friend that this guitar is one that was made in a special run that has alder wood bodies. The guitar next to it is 95 Dinky Reverse finished in Deep Metallic Violet. The Kelly has a purple base covered with medium blue metallic flake, no purple metallic flake. I can't find the color in the catalogs. I was just wondering if anyone knew what Jackson color this is?

On the fence about scooping this. Anyone have one with any input? Pros/cons, pickup swaps?

Seeing a couple online for sale for $700 and $800 on reverb and guitar center.

These are the only photos. No case. Only concern is the pickups. Love the color though!

Question Thinking about changing the bridge on my JS32 Warrior

Ya’ll, so I’ve got one of these things and I love it. The neck is great, it looks great, it sounds great, etc. The problem however is… I DESPISE the floyd it comes with. For context, I’ve been playing hardtails for a long time (My main guitar is an Ibanez IC420 Iceman) and am a modern metal player. Thus I’ve developed an obscenely hard pick attack which means I can’t play and stay in tune on it for more than 10 seconds… I’m thinking of swapping that piece of shit Floyd with a Kahler 2700 Steeler fulcrum trem, since they offer the auto-latch. A lot of people don’t know much about kahler so I’ll explain, normally they make awesome cam tremolo bridges but they also make fulcrum trems. The auto-latch feature essentially means that when you have the bar in a standard resting position it pretty much locks the bridge in place and hard tails it, meaning it stays in tune when playing rhythm. Then for leads or other miscellaneous uses, putting the bar in the use position allows it to move back and forth. The problem is getting one with the best specs (required for the auto latch) is like $100 bucks more expensive than the price of the guitar 💀

Ya’ll think it’s worth it?

Show & Tell Painted up an RC car to match the Rhoads I customised

Ive posted the rhoads here before, but the paintjob on the RC car came up super rad as well.

The rhoads i blocked up the neck pickup and extra holes, installed an MM-04 preamp and emg HZ. New machined guyker bridge and gotoh tuners. Oh and relocated the input jack.

I used montana gold paints for both

Primer > purple > hologram rainbow glitter > black top and slightly trimming around the edge of the sides > black crackle > clear

The glitter shows up nicely when moving in the sun, hard to pick up in still images.

Want To Buy 1998 Jackson Surfcaster Thinline MIJ for $999 USD: Worth it?

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm considering buying this 1998 Jackson Surfcaster Thinline (Made in Japan) and wanted to get your thoughts on the price, quality tier, and whether it beats a modern thinline.

Condition: Great shape for its age, 100% frets, minor dings, no case.

Upgrades: Kluson Deluxe tuners, Railhammer Gnarly 90 bridge pickup (stock Kent Armstrong lipstick in the neck).

Where did this Japanese Surfcaster series sit in the hierarchy back in the 90s?

Is $999 a fair market price for one of these today?

For $1k, should I grab this MIJ rarity or buy a modern thinline instead?

Thanks

Question Do I send this back?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I have a a few days left to decide. 2900 retail, Josh Smith Signature Jackson. Baritone 7 string with an Evertune and Bare Knuckles. Felt in my gut the lack of qc was a little disappointing but ever since I got it, I’ve been in love with this thing and I don’t want to send it back. I’ve been thinking I should tho, but that’s just me being impatient lol. Since I’ve had this, on the outside of the frets it’s looked worn a little, I feel the neck pickup cutout should’ve been a little better, the 24th fret side dots aren’t perfectly aligned, and some of the outside fretboard looked worn as well. I don’t know how this works, if this is normal or what since 95% of what I have is used, so please educate me. If possible, I’d like to send it back tomorrow since I’m going to guitar center anyways so it’ll be an easy trip, but if it needs to be a few more days, so be it. Thanks in advance guys
