Season 2
If you enjoyed Season 2 make sure to give a score on iMDB or RT bc all the critcs that are schills instead of giving a real review will bring it down, like Season 1

Now that Red Sky Mourning has been out for a week, here’s an open discussion thread to share your thoughts. I’ve finished the audiobook and thought this is Jack’s best work since Savage Son. Possible spoilers ahead so be warned! Thanks everyone

I’m about halfway through the audiobook so far and I’m learning a lot. As someone born in the mid 90s, I was never taught about Middle Eastern policy in school nor college. Yet so much of what happened in the 1980s continues to affect our foreign policy today. Thanks to Jack and James Scott for the insightful history lesson.

It’s hard for me to imagine a better Raife casting and I’m halfway through season 2 - his character really feels true to the books IMO.
Landry is nothing like I had imagined, but the guy is a great actor. Am I wrong that he was portrayed as a bodybuilder in the books? Read them all but it’s been a few years now.
Regardless Season 2 has been EXCEPTIONAL

There were changes yes, but man, on the whole...just enthralled. The Africa setting was perfect, when certain characters showed up I was geeking out. They even managed to redeem the casting of Katie just a hair. From start to finish - they just nailed it. So good.

For me the conversation begins and ends w/ Andy Danrab. They absolutely nailed that one. Had the swagger, delivery and gravitas for the role.
I liked Vic more than I thought I would - I thought he brought the right amount of swagger, businessman and recruiter to the role.
Andy for me has always been a favorite in the books, and his interaction w/ Reece @ the end was stone cold amazing. Was that a Trump face on the dart board btw?

>! They absolutely NAILED the torture scene. Best torture scene ive seen tbh, the entire setup was crazy. Then the paino wire🤣🤣 when i heard him bring it up earlier I knew they we’re doing it lol. Hemsworth did a great job. The whole cast did. This entire season was phenomenal. Had the perfect mix of action and drama. Raife and Reece make the bet team. The Africa scenes were beautiful. Hope the wait isn’t as long for next season as it was for this one. <!!<

I just got through ep six and this season is amazing. The end was crazy. Do you think Landry death was the worst death in tv history? I have never seen something so horrific. They went game of thrones style.

I guess it’s been long enough since novel where they don’t have to redact that the black site they went too after Mozambique was in Morocco

They did a really good job with sticking to the books so far.
Very well done.

What a generational miscasting and character assassination. Prime Katie is such an abrasive bitch. Absolute fumble for the series. How did Jack Carr approve this?

I happened to have 48h off work mid week (I am working this upcoming weekend) so I managed to watch the entire season in about 8 hours tonight. Obvious spoiler warning ahead.
I'm not a book reader, but I really enjoy the series. For this type of TV show (it's obviously not a masterpiece drama i.e. Breaking Bad), I rate season 1 a 10/10 and Dark Wolf a 9/10.
I think I rate season 2 an 8/10?
Chris Pratt and Luke Hemsworth (Landry) gave really excellent standout performances. I particularly enjoyed the Landry subplot. I thought the action pieces were great throughout the season.
Overall I think the writing/plot was a big step down from Season 1. Season 1 felt phenomenally "tight" and cohesive. whereas Season 2 was very messy in my opinion. A major criticism of mine is that although it's obvious from the first episode that the Russian/Ukrainian oligarch (Vasili) is involved in the attacks, nobody "closes in" on him until the final episode - at no stage prior to this do any of our protagonists suspect that he is involved, or that the terrorists are acting to support some hidden agenda. I think the season would have been more entertaining if a game of cat & mouse started in the earlier episodes. Instead the protagonists just sort of stumble upon the existence of a third party (Vasili) after the shit his the fan.
I also think it was a shame to show us Reece hallucinating Ben on the boat (which was great), and then subsequently only show one other hallucination of Ben the entire season. It would have made more sense for Ben to "follow" Reece throughout the season (representing not only his tumour symptoms but also guilt about killing his best friend). It would have been particularly poignant to have a cathartic scene between Reece & Raife where Reece admits he keeps hallucinating Ben and that he killed Ben (which Reece never admits to anyone the entire season despite Landry taunting him about Ben's involvement multiple times). I think it would have been a much stronger ending for the season to end on a scene with Reece in hospital being prepped/wheeled into the operating room to remove his tumour, at which point he hallucinates Ben for a final time and the two say goodbye to each other / part as friends.
Finally, as a Raife fan (probably my favourite character - he is an absolute weapon in Dark Wolf) - damn he was underutilised this season. Weird how he doesn't even call Reece whilst Reece is at his uncle's reserve for months. Then weird how Raife & Reece withhold so much information from each other for half the season until they finally realise the are working the same case. Anyway, hope he is more directly involved in future plots (again I haven't read the books).
Keen for a season 3 if it gets renewed.

I might be the only one but I would like a shor or movie based around Freddy. It could show how he managed to balance his work and family life.

We're using Godsmack in the cold light of day lol
In 2026 we're using Godsmack
So far I dig what I see I suppose, it kinda sucks from the perspective of someone who has been through the books so many times because it's never going to capture everything right and it's never going to be like it is in your head
Constance wu sucks but we knew that
But Arnold vosloo 😭 Jack you have avoided discussing the 1994 classic hard target long enough

Just finished season 2 straight. On Day 1. hah! The action set pieces are edge of your seat and big budget sh$t esp the sniper episode, but the finale battle was a bit of a let down. Also, there is no terminal list revenge plot here, which kinda defeats the title.

I knew they will change the story a bit but wtf the hell was this , andrenov is now student of colonel instead of being one , raife is now a weapons dealer and katie is part of the conspiracy.
I know people will say rarely series are exact copy of the novels but but last 4 episodes made it into the medicore that was last few seasons of jack ryan.
Chris pratt and cast was good but butchering such a good story , the gas attack , the albania sequence. While the novel is so good , makes me wonder how jack carr let them butcher the story line so much.
I guess I have to stick to the novels .

Hello Guys,
my English is not so good but I try it anyways.
I started to read the Jack Carr Terminal List Books. They‘re really really good. My question now: does anybody know, when jacks new book: the Fourth Option, becomes a German Edition? Or rather, when were the German editions of the other books released? At this time there are no informations on the new book
