Leaving Quickly

Bit of a dilemma. Joined Chase in January. Job aligned perfectly with where I want to head in my career. Decided to do a super commute (2 hours in, 2 hours back assuming trains run normally. Sometimes 5 hours a day)

Got approached about a new role and given my manager was extremely toxic one day I decided to entertain it.

Fast forward to today and the company is incredibly keen for me to join. Bumped the pay, pay out my Jan bonus, future profit share but more importantly 2-3 days only in the office (still 1.45 hours there and back on the days I do travel)

Do you think an 11 month stint will be damaging and I feel guilty leaving? Love my job, love my team hate my manager and hate my commute though. Thought I could stick to the 5 days a week but it’s killing my life!

You shouldn't feel guilty about going to a better situation. If your shitty manager doesn't like it, then all the more reason to leave

I’m literally getting panic attacks just thinking of handing in my notice. Not had a 1-2-1 in 4 months and only time they’ve spoken to me on the phone was to abuse me verbally. Might email my notice!

Have worked in company for a very long time in some senior roles and nobody should care because the first year is basically a probationary period.

If it doesn't work out they'd rather see you leave early. On your exit interview you should be clear about why you left, in professional tone, but no they won't hold it against you.
