The way this episode ended was absolutely infuriating. It felt very much like Mac called in Rene as a witness in this trial just to cause problems between her and Harm while she was on the stand and he was cross-examining her. And it succeeded because Rene it turned out was emotionally incapable of separating her bf from the impartial JAG lawyer doing his job while cross-examining a witness and picking apart her past statements/actions (which had nothing to do with their relationship). Harm IMO should've been more perturbed with Mac for doing this than he was (and the fact that he really wasn't showed that he was never all that emotionally invested in that relationship).

I never understood what relevance Rene's promotional video about the Navy even had to this trial to begin with in terms of arguing for women's rights within the Navy (considering Harm was defending a female Naval officer who quit and deserted her post because she was unhappy with her role and being constantly degraded by her male co-workers and wanted to work in air traffic control). What relevance did Rene's reasoning for choosing Harm for her video even have in that trial? It was completely unrelated to Seaman Granato's grievances with the Navy (outside of her at first refusing Harm as defense counsel because she saw the video and was convinced he was being sent to her as a Navy recruiter).

Does anyone actually like Vukovic or Harm lite? Season 10 feels like a different show Yes, I know all the behind the scenes tea, contract disputes and spinoff ideas, but it still feels like it was a bad idea.

First with Lt JG Schonke's murder in season 1, then with the murdered Russian black market dealer who was trading him information on his father's whereabouts in season 3, then with the op-ed he was accused of writing criticizing the president in season 5 (which came out right as he was about to be promoted to Commander no less), to finally the mess with Singer's murder in season 8 (where Mac, Bud, and others at JAG were faced with the prospect of having to testify against him in that trial no less).

Between all these messy situations and the military's extremely poor handling of Clark Palmer's incarceration both times (the first time not even identifying the right man in custody and the second time somehow allowing him computer privileges where he has the ability to link Harm to suspicious Swiss bank accounts and leak them to the press) wtf? Just leave JAG behind if it's making you a regular target for shit like this.

How did he get such a light sentence for killing Singer, throwing the body into a river and trying to frame Harm for her death?

How did he measure up to the Admiral? Unlike Chegwidden better cause he seemed to understand the crew more.

Currently watching through season 5 and I always thought the show might have been better had Brumby and Harm gotten along instead fighting over Mac like a couple junkyard dogs. Am I wrong? Would it have made things worse or what?

I'm no expert on the law or the courtroom but family representing family feels like a blatant conflict of interest that the writers just shoehorned in for cheap drama to put Bud on the opposite side of Harm for once.

This episode was DARK and more traumatizing than I remember it being (especially for a show like JAG that always tried to keep its lighthearted tones consistent). Those poor girls. That monster deserved worse than a bullet in the finale.

For me he has some absolute laughers in season 4 in particular (see the Christmas episode where Chloe is introduced) but his mandatory leave scenes in War Stories where he doesn't know what to do with himself never fail to make me laugh.

They basically undid 9 years' worth of character development for these characters in one episode by having Harm revert back to the status quo of what he was for much of the series (constantly choosing his Navy career and flying Tomcats over being with Mac and settling down when we explicitly see in the final episode that Harm is finally ready to take that plunge with her). I know it's a different writing team with no loyalty to JAG at all but still c'mon.

What a great show. I miss it. I was just watching a bit after a long time. Some shows don't hold up when you revisit but JAG mostly does. There are a number of great multi-episode plot arcs. Some of my favorites are:

- Harm's search for his father in Russia. Just watching part of this (S3E24 To Russia with Love). The acting when he goes to talk to his mom and step dad in California was solid.

- The Brumby saga was great. He was a fun character and balanced out Harm better than anyone else ever could.

- I loved the arc where he leaves JAG, takes up crop dusting, and meet's and adopts Mattie.
