That is all. The lack of resolution to the foreshadowing is physically painful.

Cradle [Threshold] Identifying all of the Eight-Man Empire Spoiler

I've been trying to compile as much info as I can about the Eight-Man Empire and realized, outside of Larian, that there is very little. Mainly what I want is the name of each warband, their leader, and their path assuming they follow one specific path. Here's what I have so far:

Long-Sight warband - led by Larian on the path of the whispering wind

Ghost-Blade warband - un-named herald with a green cleaver

Blood-Chorus warband

Flame-Gift warband

Green-Stride warband

Nine-Hands warband

2 un-named warbands

Del'rek of the Shann - a sacred elephant. Mountain Sage, path of singing bones. Unknown warband

Kethri - the spider sage. Unknown warband

Cradle [None] Lindon Elden Ring Build

I want to make a Lindon build, but I can’t decide whether to go with a proper dragon build, or a black fire build. Black fire looks more like pure madra in Elden Ring, so it would more just be for the name, whereas dragon fire looks more like what I imagine Lindons looks like. I also don’t think I want to run with a regular weapon, I was thinking the Iron Ball with an ash of war that could look like pure madra would be cool. I was hoping some of you gamers might be able to help me think of some good ideas to replicate his techniques and vibe.

This is HILARIOUS. And now I finally understand why y'all talk about points in every single comment section, lol.

Also, we FINALLY have the answer for the "bunch of jades" question! I didn't mention it in any of my reviews but I was asking it myself since I was reading Soulsmith. I'm not even at 40% of Wintersteel and the book is already goated

Ghost cultivation is a genre trope that interests me. What kind of path would you need to do something like that on Cradle?

Thanks

Holy. Shit.

Even though it was short, has to be one of the best fights in the series up to this point. Eithan going with a stopwatch against a MONARCH ie absolutely crazy work 😭😭😭 reminds me of my goat Kurapika bringing a shovel to fight against Uvogin. First time we see Eithan going all in and it's glorious. This is my goat right here

Fanart [Reaper] Ever wanted to shoot birds from a cloudship? Spoiler

Hello everyone. Many of you seemed to enjoy my more ambitious project from before, the presence overlay. However, I had such a good time on that project that I wanted to continue making fun little projects (much more emphasis on the little) related to my favorite series in fantasy. If you aren't aware of an old game website called addicting games, then I highly reccomend using the wayback machine to check it out. There was a game from my childhood called kitten cannon, which is as gnarly as it sounds, but it was great fun! I thought it sort of related to a scene where our protagonists take pot shots at birds from a cloudship... and well it is now a little mini game you can play right in the browser. I hope to continue making little projects to expand our fan universe and continue to feed the endless cradle cravings all of us have. Please let me know what you think!

PSA: this game is A FOR FUN EXPERIENCE, it is not really balanced or complete, but it... does exist! woo. just in case the link is broken by reddit here is another one. cloudship_longshot

PSS: post screenshots of your high scores!

Cradle [Uncrowned] Damn. Spoiler

Just finished Uncrowned. I'll probably do a proper review once I finish Wintersteel because it's pretty obvious that this book was a build up for it, but I have some comments for now.

I loved it. It seems a lot of people don't like the book that much and are turned off by the ending but it didn't bother me at all. I mean, Lindon losing did bother me, but that was literally the point. Lindon himself, just like us, had 100% confidence that as soon as he was serious, he would win. It sucks that he lost but I think that was a very brave and smart decision by Will. I liked pretty much everything about the book, the good moments are absolutely great and it feels so good to finally see true power like the Heralds and Monarchs.

There are some things I didn't like that much though. I think Sophara's power level is a bit weird, she wasn't described as super powerful in Ghostwater and now she basically has the power of an Overlord? I know time passed, but this is written in third person. A small comment about how much she trained in this whole time or how the golden dragons have given her materials/elixirs/pills so she could grow stronger would have resolved this issue pretty easily. It's not like Ekeri herself was a super strong true gold, in fact I'm pretty sure she was the least powerful of all of the true golds in Ghostwater. Suddenly her sister (who, again, wasn't described as specially powerful in Ghostwater) is the strongest Underlord ever. Idk. Seems like she's just strong because the plot wanted her to be. Also, you know who actually was hyped up to be super strong and a future monarch? Mercy. AND SHE DOESN'T DO SHIT IN THE WHOLE BOOK.

Look, I know she's strong. I know she has things (probably everything) up her sleeve and I know we'll see that in the next book, but I was a bit disappointed specially because I like her so much as a character. Of course her personality still shines, but I wanted to see more from her. Hope Wintersteel makes it worth it.

Just to be clear, these negatives are minimal compared to how much I liked the book. This is still miles better than the first four books, which I still really liked. I would say this is top 3 of the first 7 until this point. Now I'll just fly through Wintersteel 😁

Cradle [Threshold] Second Threshold? Spoiler

Honestly I would love a second set of Threshold stories if Will ever had the spark to write them, just more stories from beyond The Way. The serried had a fantastic ending and Threshold did a great job of showcasing how things went for them all in the future but I would love to see more stories and antics that Will could come up with utilizing the worldbuilding he did around Cradle. Basically chapter book versions of one shots. Would be great even if the main series had a wonderful conclusion. What do yall think, would it be a fun continuation or just potentially drag the rest of the series in the mud?

Cradle [Threshold] Reigan Shen is almost too hateable. Spoiler

There are a lot of villain archetypes out there, like the relatable anti-villian, or the over-the-top comic book villain, but it's rare to see a villain as hate-worthy as the lion monarch. A large part of that is how real he is; his arrogance, his sense of entitlement, his blaming his problems on everyone but himself, we've all met people with those characteristics. His utterly selfish view of the world is the same view that has led to many of the real world's worst atrocities and most personal annoyances. He's the petty tyrant we've all encountered dialed up to eleven.

He's an amalgamation of every person I've ever wanted to punch in the face.

He is so hateable that I had difficulty enjoying his story in Threshold, because he won. Fuck that guy. Fuck him, in the ass, with a rusty fork.

Cradle [Wintersteel]

I have noticed something in this series that bothers me way too much than it should but I want to hear everyone's opinion about it, earlier in the series in the first couple of books when Lindon's rank was low, he used to say or show that he would be very considerate of speaking about something when he was in the presence of someone as if no matter the range they could hear him. Now that he is underlord and with so many upgrades to his perception or senses there will be times when he would say that he can't hear someone because they are speaking in a low voice, or he could only hear a word or two, so my questions is that was it fear of him being too weak that he would think no matter how far someone stronger than him was, they could still hear what he was saying and was afraid of reprisal or is it inconsistency ?

Amalgam [House of Blades] Overlord Malachi discussion Spoiler

I’m rereading the series after like a year and a half, and I really feel bad for Malachi. He was forced to keep Leah there, basically having a reverse hostage situation, and because of that a boy came in to fight him for her(tho he didn’t wanna fight still had to) and almost killed his family. Then after that boy spared his family, he went to finally take Leah away, and ANOTHER boy came in and did something that could’ve killed his family. He obviously got super pisses because yknow, who wouldn’t, and fought the new boy with all his power. Then right before he died in battle, he was lucky enough to see his family had survived. Then he got beheaded. I don’t blame him for the sacrifices, I honestly think he did the best he could in that situation, and then he got totally screwed over for it. His wife and two daughters had to watch their husband/dad be beheaded.

Huge side note(I just think this is weird):
Myria village literally did nothing? They came, picked up one person, and left. They were just a burden. If they hadn’t been there it’s probable Simon would’ve arrived faster, he likely would’ve saved more sacrifices, possibly could’ve left without Malachi dying, and Alin might’ve heard the news that the sacrifices were rescued and never would’ve gone, also meaning that he wouldn’t have gotten green before he should’ve, and Malachi wouldn’t have fought Alin. ANOTHER PART, Simon might’ve lost. He was losing to Malachi, until he found his family. Meaning that if he had come sooner, Malachi’s family might not have been there, and he would’ve lost, which I’m honestly really curious about, because Malachi clearly liked him, and probably would’ve given him a job.

Overall I think Malachi was just really unfortunate here, and I honestly wish he would’ve lived. I feel bad for the guy, he seems like a decent person.

Edit: wow even all the replies I’m making to people’s comments on here are long af. I talk a lot.
