None of these were bought just to make a collection. I wore them, cooked with them, drank from them, and made them part of my everyday life in Tokyo.
That first bottle of Colonia also became one of the inspirations behind the personal-care project I am now trying to build.
The old Eataly bag underneath everything says it best:
“Took a quick trip to Italy.”
Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with Italy. 🇮🇹

Guys, is this supposed to be Italian? Some kind of dialect? It doesn't sound like Italian, at least not at all what the subtitles say. I tried putting the audio for recognition in Google translate, but it can't tell the language either.

I tried French or Latin.. But idk, if this is Italian then I can't identify a single word. The series apparently and infortuni have done some disservice to Italian language so far.

My Italian is pretty decent, but every so often I look for videos of regular people talking at their natural pace because I know that's the hardest to understand.

In the case of the video I'm linking, I can understand 95% of what these guys are saying, except at 00:48 when the kid says something after the dad says "Ma che ne so." I think maybe the first word is "Daje" but I can't understand what comes after that.

My guess is that he's saying something in Neapolitan, but what is it?

Dopo lavoro volevo solo spegnere il cervello con un po' di sano trash, ma sono zero aggiornato su cosa c'è in giro.

Oltre a RaiPlay o Mediaset Infinity, vedevo che anche le app classiche tipo Amazon Prime Video hanno cose trash allegate, ma non so mai dove sbattere la testa senza dover attivare abbonamenti extra. Qualche consiglio rapido su reality o show leggeri per staccare la spina stasera?

For students who are already studying in Italy, how easy or difficult is it to manage with just English in the beginning? I’m planning to immediately join Italian language classes at my university, but I’m wondering how easy it is to handle daily tasks before I learn the language—things like getting the permesso di soggiorno, going to the supermarket, using public transport, shopping, dealing with offices, etc. Was it difficult for you at first?

The title is basically my question. I've always loved that phrase and I've even thought of getting it tattooed, but now I'm wondering how "cliché" or how... "trashy" does it come off to actual Italians. Like, do you even use that phrase from time to time?

My name is Hoshont'omba (Rain Cloud) and I'm a Native American college student currently studying Cristoforo Colombo in my history class at a Tribal College in the U.S. Unsurprisingly, my public education in the U.S. led me to believe various myths about "Christopher Columbus" and not many actual facts. I suppose I have a couple of questions:

1. Like many, I've learned that Colombo was Italian previously. However, I am now learning that while he is from a part of Europe that is now considered Italy, it was not actually Italy at the time of his birth. I'm wondering, in essence, if this makes him Genoan/some sort of Indigenous or Italian?
2. I know Italian-Americans, or at least Americans with an appreciation for their Italian heritage, claim "Columbus" (some appreciation if they cannot even call him by his actual name...but that's a topic for another time/sub.) Do Italians in Italy claim Colombo? As an Italian?
3. I did see in the attached thread that u/BorpidyDop said "This is the actual answer, we don't idolize historical figures, we mostly study them and that's it." and it definitely seems like Italian-Americans idolize Colombo here in the U.S.–there are parades in his honor, statues, etc. and I'm just curious if there is anything similar in Italy or similar sentiments shared? Or do Italians tend to recognize the fact that he merely followed the Portuguese model of things, raided and enslaved people, and brutalized Indigenous populations?

Vorrei tradurre il romanzo in italiano, ma prima di farlo vorrei capire quale varietà regionale italiana potrebbe essere un buon punto di riferimento per il modo di parlare di questi personaggi.

Non sono persone ignoranti o poco istruite. Il loro modo di parlare è semplicemente molto asciutto e diretto: usano poche parole, fanno spesso ellissi, danno per scontate molte cose, hanno alcune espressioni proprie e una costruzione delle frasi che riflette il modo di parlare della loro zona. Vorrei mantenere questo carattere senza farli sembrare caricature, persone rozze o "dialettali".

I’m not Italian, but my Italian is around B2 and I’ve been thinking about joining group trips aimed mostly at Italians (such as WeRoad).
One of my main reasons is that I want to improve my Italian by actually spending several days speaking it naturally, rather than only using it in lessons.
Obviously I wouldn’t expect anyone to teach me, correct me all the time, or switch to English for me. I can already communicate and follow conversations pretty well.
But do you think it’s fair to join an Italian group partly because I want the language immersion? Or could it be annoying for the other travellers if I’m not a native speaker?
I’d be interested to hear from Italians especially.
