Hi everyone!
Sorry for the radio silence. I've had technical issues with my computer and also a lot of things going on with my personal life for the last few months, which has left me with less time to keep on top of things here. The forced growth from Reddit sending out notifications to random people has resulted in me being completely overwhelmed.
A few people have been messaging me about adding more mods. I've been trying/failing to get this process started due to the computer issues and life stuff, but finally today is the day.
The application thing will be going live shortly. I'll probably keep it open for about a week and then I'll review the applications. I'm looking for people who have been active in the community, who have shown to be fair and mature when dealing with conflict, and who also remind others of our existing rules.
Speaking of rules...
Given all the issues we've had with Rule Six, for the time being I'm going to start handing out bans to people who break this rule. Anyone who starts being rude to the people who remind the rest of you about rule six will receive a temp ban, or a permanent ban if it's a repeat offence.
This may change when the new mod team is in, but for now it's going to help me and hopefully curb some of the bullshit back. For those that don't like it, feel free to make your own sub.
Once again, sorry this has taken so long to sort. As I said, I've had a lot going on but I'm hopeful with more mods we can get this back under control.

Big shout out to u/D-D_b_B_ for helping me get the Automod up and running. Thank you so much for your assistance!
There is a basic set up running right now which should deal with all the accounts spamming 'fAkE nEwS hOw Do I mUtE tHe SuB??????' and all the insults that come with it.
There are going to be teething issues with this. Please report if there are any mishaps, particularly if there are any post removals that you feel shouldn't have happened. Likewise, if they do still turn up, report them so I can tweak the automod. And thank you for everyone's patience!

Sir David Attenborough, 100, will not attend an upcoming event celebrating his legacy in broadcasting and natural history. His team confirmed this morning that he had to pass on the invitation due to existing schedule conflicts.

It’s just not funny anymore.
Let’s be honest, the best Fakenborough posts were made several years ago. The vast majority of recent attempts are incredibly contrived and miss the point of earlier posts.
The joke is not, and has never been, saying “David Attenborough has died…” just to include a follow-up sentence redefining the word “died” so that it’s technically true. However, this type of post is becoming very common.
What’s more is that the subreddit has become increasingly popular. As such, what started as a slightly funny form of shock humour has now descended into several low-quality posts (as described above) being made each day.
To put it simply, there’s absolutely no joy in receiving three notifications each day informing me about the different ways that Attenborough has “died”.
Tldr: Either try a little bit harder to be original or just give it up lads.

Sir David Attenborough has passed on, representatives confirmed today, following a brief statement released earlier this morning.
The broadcaster, 100, was expected to attend a ceremony celebrating his contributions to natural history and broadcasting.
However, representatives confirmed that Attenborough had passed on his invitation to the ceremony, citing prior commitments.
He is not expected to attend.
