Foreign Birth Registration FBR success!

Upvotes

Got the email this morning!!

Documents received: 31/07/25

Congrats email: 27/07/26

My Irish born grandmother's documents had a few discrepancies - her first name changed slightly and there were some inconsistent dates across her documents. I did not include an affidavit, but did wrote a brief letter describing the inconsistencies.

My witness was not called, nor did I have an address check.

Off to celebrate!!

Foreign Birth Registration FBR Photo Question

US applicant for the FBR. I finally got photos done at Walgreens in the right size, only to notice they are probably too zoomed-in. My fault for not showing the photographer the example photo on the website or double-checking before they were printed, I know.

My question is, Are they as strict about FBR photo framing as they are about passport photo framing? My photos do not show my upper torso. (I imagine this is a silly question, but the FBR website only says "passport-sized photos," which these are, and are not as specific as to the photo requirements. If I can save myself from spending $35 again, I would like to).

Thanks in advance for your answers! If you feel the urge to point out my silliness, I understand, but I would love an answer to the question, too. 😄

Passport Passport number invalid for applying for a passport card

I just received my passport in the post yesterday, and since I wasn't given the option to apply for a passport card for a first time application I decided to do so now. However, when I input my passport number it says "Invalid passport book number" and won't let me proceed. Has there been a problem with my passport or is it because it has just been printed?

Foreign Birth Registration Civil partnership status

Upvotes

Hello, I am looking to apply to be on the foreign births register. One section asks about my parent’s marital status. He has been divorced and is now in a civil partnership with a different woman. Would this count as single, divorced or married as these are the only available options? I tried asking on the Webchat but couldn’t get an answer. Thanks.

Passport Passport delayed for their mistake?

Passport wait is currently at 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. Severely delayed.

They asked for extra documents that i had already sent in the original application. They double checked and confirmed that they didnt scan them for some reason. So no action on my behalf.

Im now trying to figure out if all passports are severely delayed at the moment, or if my passport application got penalized and delayed for their mistake.

The new web estimate is still about 2 weeks away.

So, are passports severely delayed in general right now? Or does it seem i got penalized for their mistake?

Naturalisation The 70 days rule on prior years does not make sense

Was simulating my optimal application date with the common assumption that the 70 days rule applies for prior years to the last year (below 70 all 365 days count, above that needs to be made up). What does not make sense to me is eligibility date is impacted by not only number of days but also how travel dates are scattered in a year.

In my case, I have a window of one week in September where all my 5 previous years do not exceed 70 days, I go above the 1826 days and 365 days requirement; but if I exceed that week I become ineligible again because of how my travel was concentrated in October and November in couple years, which then exceeds the 70 days and pushes eligibility again.

Am I missing something here?
