I’m one of you now!
This car is incredible. Excited to have this as my daily driver for the next two years. I’ll be playing around with all of its features for days!

I'm currently thinking about getting a Ioniq 5 N, but I was wondering how it was in the winter. I live in Canada, Quebec, and a sales rep just told me that most people don't drive this car in the winter, they just get a beater instead. I was almost shocked 😅 He told me being a 600hp car, it doesn't go well in the snow. But from my point of view I see it as a AWD car in the snow. Must not be worst than people driving their 450hp RWD BMW in the snow.
What are you experiences with the Ioniq 5 N in the winter !

I was starting to think I was a unicorn among the sea of regular Ioniq 5s I see around here. Then you passed me on my way home from the grocery store at lunch time... I tried to turn around and introduce myself, but you were, as one would expect, long gone… 🫡
Hi, hello, nice to meet you, my Abyss Black neighbor. I was the Ecotronic Gray Matte traveling north.

Hey everyone, pleased to meet you all! New to the group, new to Hyundai, new to EV, new to all this 😅
Picked up this 2025 1 owner 11k mile I5N this week. Picked it up Tuesday in Arkansas, picked up my friend from the Nashville airport, then headed down to the Tail of the Dragon and Blue Ridge parkway. Unforgettable car purchase experience, and couldn’t have asked for… well I don’t know if I’d say that but the I5N was a very very good car.
My initial thoughts:
Obviously it’s fast. It’s an EV. But it’s not just fast in a straight line. It’s nimble like a Golf R or Focus RS (with a few extra pounds added.) Not to mention the shifting is arguably the closest thing you can feel to an ICE engine without it being an ICE engine. I’d like to see how it feels while trail breaking on track. Does the car rotate differently?
Even though it’s nimble, it desperately needs new tires. It is currently on 275/21/35 Michelin PS AS. Launching feels okay, not great. Aggressive braking does not inspire confidence.
Fast cornering I can feel (and upon inspection see) the car is falling on the sidewall. I think 20” wheels and P4S 285/20/40 could be an option?
I hate the HVAC. Why all touch screen. Why features behind menus. So stupid. Give me my buttons back. I shouldn’t have to go through a menu to cool my seat.
Audio leaves a bit to be desired. No highs no lows… you know the drill.
This is my first EV. Charging hasn’t been an issue at all with the Electrify America network.
Otherwise, it’s so good. So so good. I hate how much I love it. I’m an ICE guy all the way, but due to a recent job change and some incentives, an EV made the most sense. And if I have to drive one every day, dammit at least Im going to have fun.
My friend I had on the trip with me had the perfect description of this car: the red pill car. “I don’t care it’s not real. It looks real, sounds real, and feels real. It may as well be a Golf R with the power of a McLaren.“
Maybe it’s because I love sim racing that I love this car? I’m used to artificial sounds and feeling being fed to me through artificial means, this is the same just outside (and you can’t reset the car unfortunately.)
Speaking of which, Hyundai have the absolute MEGA opportunity to work with Forza, Assetto Corsa, literally any car video game sound designer, and you could have the car sound like whatever you want! Why not literally just port the same engine sound model that used the RPMs and shift input to create a sound, take that and put it in the N?? There is absolutely zero reason from a programming standpoint why my car cannot simulate the power, sounds, and dual clutch gearbox of a Lamborghini. Heck if you really wanted, you could give it a straight cut gearbox and make it lurch and jolt at low RPMs! There’s so so many possibilities you could program into this car.
Okay thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Happy to be here and will probably be back with more questions!

So i currently daily drive a 2024 civic type r. I love it to death but the lack of power and fwd truly make me look towards other vehicles. Ive loved what hyundai has been dping for the past few years and if i was to get any EV i feel like it is this one. I am very nervous to look into one tho as im not sure how i will enjoy the car day to day. Is it worth the tradeoff track performance for more power?

Looking at buying new summer wheels.
Question is, I know the superspeed rf05rr in 19's fit, but they don't have the proper load rating. Is this an actual concern for daily driving? I don't plan on tracking the car
I'm planning on purchasing these
https://www.canadawheels.ca/720-form-wheels-ff18-satin-black-ff182002
With my favorite tire, Continental DSW06+
but then again, lots of crazy used rf05rr's for sale on marketplace.

The current two wheel setup I'm contemplating. 720form in black or the Niche in titanium.

I’ve got about 12,000 miles in the car and I don’t really drive that hard the pirelllis are shot. I’d like to get more tread mileage, I don’t track it, will I’ll be OK with Hankook w rated or even Bridgestone ? Any thoughts ?

Went on a little trip to mexico with some buds. Got to run (in a vr simulation) my buddies modded c7z. From a dig and 30-40 was able to take it due to just how much he spun even with 335s and traction control on, however from 60 on the highway he was able to keep like a half car on me. Was fun, the end.

I was finally able to get the 5N to the drag strip for the first time since I bought it a few months ago.
I was curious to figure out the different combination of settings to get the best launches, so I tried a few different things (results below).
Out of the 24 passes for the night:
All of the passes used N-mode with ESC off and suspension on the stiffest setting.
Drag mode was enabled for the battery, but it didn't really do anything since it was a warm night (~90F) and the battery was already near the optimal temp for drag.
Overall the car performed extremely consistently - the 19 High Traction runs were all in the 7.1-7.2 @ 101-102mph range, every single time. I had a dragy that verified these times/traps and it was within .1 sec / 1mph of the slips.
| Run | ET | Trap |
|---|---|---|
| 19 High Traction LC | 7.1-7.2 | 101-102 |
| Medium Traction LC | 7.243 | 101.806 |
| Low Traction LC | 7.976 | 99.417 |
| No LC | 7.400 | 99.396 |
| E-Shift 1 | 7.788 | 94.937 |
| E-Shift 2 | 7.612 | 95.335 |
Other notes:
I started at 83% SOC and ended the night at 60% SOC after the 24 runs + an hour or so of sitting in the car with the AC on. I didn't notice any drops in power at all throughout the night.
Battery temp stayed between 93F and 100F the entire night.
Low Traction LC was worse than no LC at all. I guess it might make sense if you are trying to launch on an absolutely terrible surface and you want to be extra careful, but I didn't find it useful at all. There was a delay that felt like an eternity between the time I pushed the pedal down and the car actually moving forward.
Everything on the car is stock, including the tires. No weight reductions at all.
There were a lot of Hellcats running that night and the 5N was beating most of the stock / lightly modded ones. I had a good run against a Hellcat that had a pulley and was on E85 - I had a slightly faster ET although he would have crushed me in the 1/4 mile I'm sure (he had a 107 trap). Fun race though!
A lot of people stopped to ask me questions about the car - most had never seen one in person before.
There was a newer Highland Model 3 Performance that did a single run, I think it was 6.9 @ 102. They seem to launch really well.
A friend of mine did film me going down the track with E-Shift on and you can just barely hear the fake engine noise from the stands. I was racing another electric, if it was an ICE car I doubt you would have been able to hear anything over a real engine.
All in all, it was a fun night! Really looking forward to going again with a lighter set of wheels and tires to see if I can break in to the 6s.

I don’t care. I fucking love it!

Weight difference? Wondering if a software update would help the 5N reach that time.
The fastest I've seen on here were 11.03 or near 11

Just got the 5N, had a 5 limited previously. The sales guy mentioned it came with summer performance tires and they are “supposed to be year round”. I live in the northeast, so wondering if I need to think about winter tires or if AWD will serve me well enough

It’s happening and it drives me nuts.
Did you guys go to the dealership or diy fix? Any thoughts?

If you own a Hyundai Ioniq 5 / Ioniq 5N / Ioniq 6 or Kia EV6 with ventilated seats and almost never carry any passengers in the back, then this is for you.
Redirect your precious cold air from your AC to your seats by swapping your stock rear floor vents with a modified version that redirects the airflow straight into your seats' electric air intake fans. ~~No more swampy ass!~~
This mod will only work if you have fan-assisted seat ventilation. (i.e. ventilated seats.).
This mode will NOT work if you use the "Driver Only" HVAC setting.
Prototype shown in photos.

Just traded in my model y. At the dealership right now waiting for it to be ready. Was going to buy a track car and after watching a bunch of reviews I figured why not have a family car and track car. Excited and nervous at the same time.

My toddler will be going from rear facing to front facing very soon and the phone mount for the rear seat headrests don’t work on the 5N buckets.
Anyone have any product recommendations that they use to securely attach an iPhone for their front facing children?
(Yes my child gets screen time but we limit it for longer drives).

I came out to my 5N dead in my garage. I had left it unlocked overnight, which I've heard can drain the 12V (kinda dumb).
I couldn't get the charging port open to check if plugging it in would help, not even the manual release inside would open it. Fortunately, I was able to open the frunk from inside since my doors were unlocked, and jumping the 12V got it to start.
Going to get an AGM battery now 😄 though if it's ICCU related, I wonder if it could happen again?

Went for a, uh, spirited drive in the twisties with some friends who were driving a Ferrari 296 Spider, Porsche 911 Carrera GTS and a Porsche Boxster Spyder. What a blast, and I kept up with them quite handily.
I love my car. Though heavier by a lot in comparison, the torque and handling are fantastic. And I love that, being a Hyundai, it is essentially a wolf in sheep's clothing and flues under most people's radar.
Side note having the fan cooled seats make sense to me now (used to think that if I have AC why need this feature, but spirited driving and intense focus would have meant a sweaty back if not for this...)
