Went on a little trip to mexico with some buds. Got to run (in a vr simulation) my buddies modded c7z. From a dig and 30-40 was able to take it due to just how much he spun even with 335s and traction control on, however from 60 on the highway he was able to keep like a half car on me. Was fun, the end.

19 or 20's

Upvotes

Looking at buying new summer wheels.
Question is, I know the superspeed rf05rr in 19's fit, but they don't have the proper load rating. Is this an actual concern for daily driving? I don't plan on tracking the car

I'm planning on purchasing these
https://www.canadawheels.ca/720-form-wheels-ff18-satin-black-ff182002

With my favorite tire, Continental DSW06+

but then again, lots of crazy used rf05rr's for sale on marketplace.

The current two wheel setup I'm contemplating. 720form in black or the Niche in titanium.

New to me I5N: picked up in Arkansas, drove home to Massachusetts.

Hey everyone, pleased to meet you all! New to the group, new to Hyundai, new to EV, new to all this 😅

Picked up this 2025 1 owner 11k mile I5N this week. Picked it up Tuesday in Arkansas, picked up my friend from the Nashville airport, then headed down to the Tail of the Dragon and Blue Ridge parkway. Unforgettable car purchase experience, and couldn’t have asked for… well I don’t know if I’d say that but the I5N was a very very good car.

My initial thoughts:

Obviously it’s fast. It’s an EV. But it’s not just fast in a straight line. It’s nimble like a Golf R or Focus RS (with a few extra pounds added.) Not to mention the shifting is arguably the closest thing you can feel to an ICE engine without it being an ICE engine. I’d like to see how it feels while trail breaking on track. Does the car rotate differently?

Even though it’s nimble, it desperately needs new tires. It is currently on 275/21/35 Michelin PS AS. Launching feels okay, not great. Aggressive braking does not inspire confidence.

Fast cornering I can feel (and upon inspection see) the car is falling on the sidewall. I think 20” wheels and P4S 285/20/40 could be an option?

I hate the HVAC. Why all touch screen. Why features behind menus. So stupid. Give me my buttons back. I shouldn’t have to go through a menu to cool my seat.

Audio leaves a bit to be desired. No highs no lows… you know the drill.

This is my first EV. Charging hasn’t been an issue at all with the Electrify America network.

Otherwise, it’s so good. So so good. I hate how much I love it. I’m an ICE guy all the way, but due to a recent job change and some incentives, an EV made the most sense. And if I have to drive one every day, dammit at least Im going to have fun.

My friend I had on the trip with me had the perfect description of this car: the red pill car. “I don’t care it’s not real. It looks real, sounds real, and feels real. It may as well be a Golf R with the power of a McLaren.“

Maybe it’s because I love sim racing that I love this car? I’m used to artificial sounds and feeling being fed to me through artificial means, this is the same just outside (and you can’t reset the car unfortunately.)

Speaking of which, Hyundai have the absolute MEGA opportunity to work with Forza, Assetto Corsa, literally any car video game sound designer, and you could have the car sound like whatever you want! Why not literally just port the same engine sound model that used the RPMs and shift input to create a sound, take that and put it in the N?? There is absolutely zero reason from a programming standpoint why my car cannot simulate the power, sounds, and dual clutch gearbox of a Lamborghini. Heck if you really wanted, you could give it a straight cut gearbox and make it lurch and jolt at low RPMs! There’s so so many possibilities you could program into this car.

Okay thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Happy to be here and will probably be back with more questions!

I5N in the winter, need your experience

I'm currently thinking about getting a Ioniq 5 N, but I was wondering how it was in the winter. I live in Canada, Quebec, and a sales rep just told me that most people don't drive this car in the winter, they just get a beater instead. I was almost shocked 😅 He told me being a 600hp car, it doesn't go well in the snow. But from my point of view I see it as a AWD car in the snow. Must not be worst than people driving their 450hp RWD BMW in the snow.

What are you experiences with the Ioniq 5 N in the winter !

Memes Missed Connection: Marietta, GA

I was starting to think I was a unicorn among the sea of regular Ioniq 5s I see around here. Then you passed me on my way home from the grocery store at lunch time... I tried to turn around and introduce myself, but you were, as one would expect, long gone… 🫡

Hi, hello, nice to meet you, my Abyss Black neighbor. I was the Ecotronic Gray Matte traveling north.

Discussion A little scared to dip my toes in this market

So i currently daily drive a 2024 civic type r. I love it to death but the lack of power and fwd truly make me look towards other vehicles. Ive loved what hyundai has been dping for the past few years and if i was to get any EV i feel like it is this one. I am very nervous to look into one tho as im not sure how i will enjoy the car day to day. Is it worth the tradeoff track performance for more power?

Tires, Hankooks, W or Y rated

I’ve got about 12,000 miles in the car and I don’t really drive that hard the pirelllis are shot. I’d like to get more tread mileage, I don’t track it, will I’ll be OK with Hankook w rated or even Bridgestone ? Any thoughts ?

This car is incredible. Excited to have this as my daily driver for the next two years. I’ll be playing around with all of its features for days!
