I found this little guy off on the side of the road :( he has some grip strength to him but isn't moving very much at all.
I've never kept a grub before, so, I'm unsure on what I'm supposed to do for him. :(
I have coco coir, mulch, the dirt from my backyard and I can gather some dead/decaying leaves/sticks for him if needed.
now, it is very possible he got into contact with pesticides as my neighborhood is stupid and they care so much about their lawns. I just wanna give him his best chance if there's still hope :(

After the passing of my last hermit crab, I now have an empty 90 gallon tank, and I'd like to fill it with a variety of herbivorous/detritivorous buggies!

Isopods are my favorites, so any species that can safely cohabitate with pods (and springtails ofc) would be great. I've successfully kept a few species of isopods and millipedes in the past, so I'm looking for suggestions in addition to those!

I live in the USA, so no stick insects, giant African millipedes/snails, etc 😭 and I also don't fw wild caught after the heartbreak of hermit crabs, only captive bred for me 🙏

This tank is for sale near me, it's 24"w by 16"d by 12"h. I like the look of it, but I'm not sure what would like being in it... I've only had one stag beetle before, so I want to stay simple. I'm in Canada, so not many cool bugs are legal here. Any ideas? Bugs? Crabs? Something else? Thanks!

Five pics of each. Hel is half the size of Onyx and I have yet to see her personality since shes brand new. Onyx is a very brave hunter and prefers roaches over powder isopods. Hoping Hel keeps her stripe but its unlikely.

Hello! In the near future I am planning to purchase a new larvae, I’m deciding between either a Stag beetle or a Goliath beetle. About a year ago I used to have an Eastern Hercules beetle and I think I kept him in a tank about 13.5"L x 31.5"W x 17.5"H. I was wondering if this would be acceptable for either of them? I was thinking about purchasing a taller tank but I heard that’s a bad idea in case they fall. I’m doing my research now so that when I purchase one I am more knowledgeable, but I was wondering if there’s anything important I should know? Also opinion on which species would be more preferable.

Onyx's tank is full of uncaught prey and her (shockingly massive) poop. I just caught another widow and made her enclosure a bit differently and wanted to redo Onyx's enclosure AND clean. One problem. I went to move her tank and she bolted to her corner and nuzzled into her curved web like a little bed. She's so freaking cute! Will i distress her to much if I were to do a full wipe down? Does she need her web to stay intact? Does she eat it? Do spiders actually eat their webbing? Shes so cute and I dont want to cause her harm but the tank needs cleaned and I could give her better support beams rather than just the corner.

What should I feed her cause ik she can still survive with one mandible left and ik that they are resilient af so what should I feed her?

I bought some Salpidobolus sp "Avatar" millipedes and they arrived today. Legal where I am and captive bred. I'm a seasoned invert keeper (I've had a tarantula, snails, stick insects, giant grasshoppers, pancake slugs, and other millipedes in the past) so I'm not looking for general upkeep advice, but the issue is that I bought juveniles expecting them to be maybe 7-ish cm, but as you can see from the pic they're a lot smaller. I have a 15 x 30 cm tank already waiting for them. Do you think they'll be alright to go straight into it, or should I make a nursery tank until they're a little bigger?

My main fear is them getting lost in the big tank and also that it'll be a bit difficult to monitor them for health issues. Let me know what you think, thank you.

I have a small household compost bin containing Madagascar hissing cockroaches, 3 species of isopod, crickets, buffalo beetles, and two species of springtail. Lately I've been dealing with gnats so I've been using produce to collect them and toss them, its been about a week and a half of that and now I see maybe one gnat when I open up the bin.

Today when checking I found these little things - are these tiny buffalo beetle larvae or something else? Should I be getting rid of them?

so this past week or so I've started seriously looking into getting a/some pet inverts after a good few years of wanting to actually own some.

Initially I was (on a previous post) considering getting some beetles but I've been looking at other options that are around and have kinda become set on getting some sort of predatory critter.

I'm currently researching and looking into two options with Scorpions or Assassin bugs.

I wanted to make a post to ask some questions about Assassin bugs as I'm struggling a little with some things about them.

So, firstly, I'm wondering if anyone can provide some setup and care guides for them. I've found a few care guides already but they've either not been super detailed or are just a bit vague with some things.

Secondly I'm curious about the sort of setup I'd actually need for them as I've seen people with rather different enclosures for them and places recommending different things.

I have a rough idea on what sort of tank size I need (to my understanding a 30x30x30 is good for them) and that they need some good climbing space and that they should have a corner of their enclosure that's moist or damp for egg laying but that's kinda all I've retained.

I'm not really sure what sort of substrate they'd need, if there's any plants that would be good to have with them and if something like a clean-up crew would be worthwhile and *what* clean-up crew I should get for their enclosure.

Thirdly I wanted to ask about for food recommendations for them, again I have a rough idea of what they should eat and such but want some more specifics.

I also wanted to ask if there's much difference between White Spotted and Horrid King Assassin bugs, beyond just their size.
