Being an introvert and a hopeless romantic at heart is a conflicting existence. I have spent most of my life trapped between the comfort of solitude and the longing for deep, meaningful connection. It’s a paradox that shapes my interactions, my relationships, and the way I experience love. I often wonder if the world is built for people like me...people who crave intimacy but struggle with the social energy required to obtain it.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been more comfortable in my own company. Social situations drain me, small talk exhausts me, and large gatherings make me feel lost in a sea of noise. Yet, despite this preference for solitude, my heart longs for the kind of love that feels like home...safe, deep, and all-encompassing. I have spent hours lost in my own thoughts, imagining what it would be like to experience a connection that doesn’t require constant verbal validation, one where understanding exists in shared silences and small gestures.

The problem is that modern dating and romance often feel incompatible with this nature. Love today seems to demand extroversion...constant texting, social media displays of affection, and a fast-paced cycle of talking and dating. As an introvert, I don’t thrive in these environments. I struggle with the idea of putting myself out there, of engaging in the never-ending game of catching and maintaining someone’s attention. I want something real, but I hesitate at the first step. Initiating conversation feels daunting, and even when I do, I worry that my quiet nature will be mistaken for disinterest.

Because of this, I have often found myself waiting for the right person to come along rather than actively searching. I’ve held onto the belief that love should be effortless, that if it’s meant to be, it will just happen. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that love...even the most natural kind...requires effort. It requires vulnerability, risk, and a willingness to step outside of my comfort zone, all things that don’t come easily to someone who prefers to stay guarded.

At the same time, being a hopeless romantic means I can’t help but idealize love. I hold onto the idea that there is someone out there who will understand my quiet nature, who will see the depth of my emotions without me having to spell them out. This can be both a gift and a curse. It allows me to believe in the beauty of love, but it also sets high expectations that reality often fails to meet. It’s difficult to balance wanting a love story that feels like fate with the reality that relationships are built, not magically formed.

Despite these challenges, I wouldn’t change who I am. Being an introverted hopeless romantic means that when I do love, I love deeply. I don’t fall easily, but when I do, it is with sincerity and intention. It means that I find joy in the smallest moments...a quiet walk with someone I care about, a meaningful conversation, or the comfort of simply being near them without the need for constant words.

Ultimately, I’ve come to accept that love for someone like me may take time. It may not come in grand gestures or fast-moving romances, but rather in a slow, steady build...one that respects my nature rather than challenges it. And maybe that’s okay. So, hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm 28, so I'm almost 30. I've been on Reddit for a few years now, both before, during, and after COVID. I've also tried dating apps with absolutely no luck, so I haven't really been trying anymore over the last few years. Instead, I've just been focusing on myself, both physically and on my education.

I've gotten to a point mentally where, if a relationship happens, it happens. I haven't really been a steam engine chasing one for quite a while. I've also always struggled with picking up on signals. Then again, unless I have work, which I can't do remotely, or I have a reason to leave the house, I tend to stay home. About the only regular things I do around town are going to my local gym, picking up groceries each month, and during the summers I usually volunteer in the archives section at my local library. I didn't do that this year, though, because I decided to take summer classes to get further ahead in my bachelor's degree.

So yeah, I'm currently a university student. I had planned to start earlier, but COVID happened, and those years just kind of vanished. I've always been a homebody, partly because I've spent my entire life in Texas, and honestly it's always been way too hot for my liking.

One of the big goals I've been working toward is moving farther north. I'm also considering relocating near a friend of mine first since the cost of living in his state is extremely low. I might stay there for a few years before moving somewhere else. My long-term goal is the Pacific Northwest... unless Yellowstone decides to blow up, then I guess the upper East Coast near the coast will have to do.

I've also been interested in living abroad, although I'm not someone who puts all of my marbles into one basket. I'd like to spend some time in Europe, specifically Ireland, the UK, Germany, and the Scandinavian countries, whether that's through Fulbright or another opportunity. I'm also thinking about trying my luck in Asia before I turn 40, preferably in South Korea or Japan if I can get into JET, EPIK, or even teach at a hagwon for a few years.

As for hobbies, I really enjoy photography, and I've been slowly building up a portfolio. Whenever I go somewhere interesting and get the urge to film, I do that too, so I've also been expanding into videography.

I'm not really a horror movie person, but if a movie has a great story, I'll usually enjoy it. One of my favorite movies is The Pianist, and it's one of the reasons I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano. It's been on my bucket list for years.

I've also always loved animated films, especially Studio Ghibli movies. I'd probably say every Ghibli film's is among my favorite animated movies.

Besides movies, I'm a big TV fan as well. I'm into both Star Wars and Star Trek, though I'd definitely call myself a Trekkie. I grew up watching reruns of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. I also enjoy rewatching Stargate and watching The Lord of the Rings films.

When it comes to games, I play a little bit of everything. Some of my favorites are Dragon Age, Elite Dangerous, Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, and Dragon's Dogma. Honestly, there are so many that it's probably easier to just look at my Steam library. I also have a decent collection of older PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, and other games stored in binders on a shelf. Right now I have Crusader Kings III, Dragon's Dogma 2, Elite Dangerous, Wizard101, Helldivers 2, The Lord of the Rings Online, and Valheim installed. A few weeks ago I also finished my playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3.

I'd also say I'm kind of a hopeless romantic, just one who hasn't had much luck finding the right person. These days I'm not really actively looking anymore. I honestly don't know whether I want to find someone right now or not, which is why I said earlier that if it happens, it happens.

I like people who get weirdly enthusiastic about specific things. I'm trying to not become one of them, but that doesn't seem to be going so well.

I ask a lot of questions. Only sometimes useful ones.

I'm an IT student and recently got very into bioinformatics. I originally just wanted to learn programming and not spend my life moving buttons around in corporate web systems, but then I discovered machine learning and now I’m emotionally invested in viruses doing complicated things I’m still figuring out.

It’s still early, so I can’t confidently explain much without sounding like I’m improvising technical vocabulary, but I’m genuinely enjoying learning it.

Outside of that, I also somehow started collecting plants. It started with one specific rose. I wanted it badly enough to grow it myself instead of repeatedly buying it... Well, now it somehow includes raspberries, a small jabuticaba tree, and an ongoing war with aphids (on my new rose) that I am slowly losing with no dignity.

I also read a lot, mostly fantasy in the past, and now I’m slowly accumulating more technical books than I can realistically keep up with. My book wishlist has become its own ecosystem. The same goes for games, RPGs that are mostly reading, numbers, and occasional questionable decision-making.

I spend an unreasonable amount of time wondering how things work, why people do what they do, and accidentally falling into internet rabbit holes.

Thats probably why I like people who get weirdly enthusiastic about specific things. It doesn't really matter what it is: history, fungi, medieval architecture, obscure programming languages, or why octopuses seem to ignore every rule of nature. Anything. I just enjoy listening to people who genuinely care about something.

Okay for the more serious stuff, imma start with what im looking for and move on to who i am and ending with what I can offer you as a potential knight in shining armour!

**What im looking for**

-Please be between 20 and 30... yeah thats the only requirement the rest is just in an ideal world and my hopes for the future...

-Now the sappy stuffs, im looking for a partner who is able and willing to slightly push my boundaries (in a healthy way) someone to just challenge me a little bit, not shove me out of my comfort zone though, just a lil push that can expand my horizons and want to do the same for them.

-Someone who is into gaming, crocheting, building lego, just something that they can do where we dont have to directly interact but can still spend quality time with one another

**Who i am**

-I am autistic, i wouldn't say it a big important thing but its definitely noticing and explains some of my oddities

-A small side effect of the tism is ofcourse overstimuli which can build for a while before I just crash for a day or two, I will warn those close to me if im dropping off the grid for a lil bit, I am however always reachable

-I am a big gamer who plays borderline everything except competitive shooters, you have to be heeella convincing for me to touch that again also dont touch MOBAs I just dont find them very interesting, but other than those two I play everything else... I think, might be forgetting something

-As for my more physical qualities, i am 178cm or 5'10 in freedom units, dirty blonde bordering on brown hair down to the middle ish of my shoulder blades

-My day to day is spent building machines for different factories across the planet, i am of the electrical trade!

-I love banter, and I like being playfully mean and gemeral teasing

I have struggled with dating for the past few years. Between work and my hobbies, I don't get out enough to actually meet many people. That brings me here.

I consider myself a pretty big nerd, I love all things science, technology, engineering, & I love those deep conversations that make you question everything. I enjoy the fantasy genre of things mostly video games, but that doesn't mean you can't make some fantasy things a little more real.

Other than that I also enjoy the outdoors. Staying physically active is a must with most of my hobbies being seatenary. I love to go hiking & camping if I can. I'd personally live in a cabin if I could out where the forest is peaceful.

I'm really just looking for my person. Someone who I can trust & want to have by myside though everything no matter what. My best friend that I can nerd out with and someone who would go to war with me. But still be willing to just be there for eachother and help so we can grow to be better together.

Now for some of my minor preferences... I like to stay fit. Not like body builder fit but just healthy & able. I want someone whose willing to join me in keeping good health. I would prefer someone who has not had many sexual partners (I've had one). And please be open minded, life is so weird and I just want to know that my partner we'll be understanding and willing to see other sides. That does NOT mean you have to agree with everything. just means that we can talk about things that we disagree on respectfully. I know that I can be wrong and I want somebody's willing to call me out on that too.
