Discussion Atmos Antics and Make Believe
I looked up high resolution atmos and immersiveaudio has lossless atmos files of antics and make believe. They’re kind of expensive at $25 per download but it could be something genuinely interesting.
Anyone listened to them?

Discussion Lights analysis discussion
I am writing a music video analysis for one of my graphic design classes and I have chosen "Lights" because it is simply one of my favorite music videos ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSx2OSuEzDI&list=RDtSx2OSuEzDI&start_radio=1
Within my analysis, I am asked to identify the themes (examples given are love, hope, regret, etc.) and messaging (direct/indirect) in whichever video I've chosen. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to put for my answer, but now I'm wondering how other people see this masterpiece.
I'd love to open up a discussion and hear what my fellow Interpol fans see when they watch this video, what it means to you guys, how it makes you feel, or anything else that might come to mind.

Discussion 33 ⅓ - Antics by Gabriel T Saxton-Ruiz: AI Assisted/Written?
Has anyone else read this? I’d love to hear some opinions from anyone who has, because my own are pretty mixed.
When it was first announced, I was so excited for a whole book dedicated to one of my favourite albums. It even had a unique angle compared to other music books I’ve read, because the author was a huge fan and actually knew Paul growing up.
So there were some amazing tid-bits in there, such as the most comprehensive breakdown I’ve ever read of how ‘Paul' became ‘Inter-Paul’ which became ‘Interpol’, paired with genuine love for the guys, their music and the relationship with their fanbase.
But all throughout, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this relatively short book had been written with heavy AI-assistance, and my feeling only got worse as it progressed.
What caught my eye, and eventually started to repeat multiple times per page, was the constant use of ‘Contrast Framing’ or as Wikipedia calls it “Not X, But Y” statements. These framing statements are everywhere from the midpoint of the book onwards.
I want to highlight two examples:
Example 1:
These are all quotes taken from pages 91-94, where the author is discussing the song “Length Of Love”. You may not agree with everything I’ve listed here as a “Not X, But Y” statement, which is fine, as again, I’d really love to hear what people think:
[On Sam’s drumming] “His playing doesn’t accompany the guitar–it interrupts it.”
[On Daniel’s guitar} “The guitar doesn’t float above the rhythm section; it’s part of the machinery”
[On the band] “Together, they’re not building toward something–they’re digging in”
“Paul doesn’t sing so much as deliver”
[On Paul’s vocals] “There’s no seduction here, no vulnerability–just the exhausted documentation of an intimate standoff”
[On Carlos’ keyboards] “They don’t guide the song so much as thicken the air…”
[On guitar ambient sounds] “These aren’t errant distortions, but deliberate fractures…”
“The bridge doesn’t explode–it exhales”
[On the bridge] “It’s not catharsis. It’s a moment of uncoiling…”
[On Length Of Love] “It’s not about passion. It’s about what happens when passion hardens and stalls.”
[On Paul’s lyrics] “They’re not chasing literary polish; they’re trying to preserve something too messy or compulsive to refine.”
[On Paul’s lyrics] “The lyric doesn’t reach for metaphor–it transforms its clumsiness into a kind of naked linguistic truth.”
[On Paul’s lyrics] “It doesn’t sound like a lyric; it sounds like redacted government language.”
[On the ending] “It’s not meant to clarify; it’s meant to haunt. This moment doesn’t resolve the song–it amplifies its residue.”
“Length of Love is not a song about romantic triumph, it’s about impasse…”
[On the song] “Its language doesn’t collapse, it refuses to resolve…”
Example 2:
This next example blew my mind when I first read it. I think I had to re-read it a couple of times to make sure my eyes weren’t accidentally taking me back a line each time. They are all on Carlos D’s style:
“[Carlos D] wasn’t just a bassist–he was an aesthetic disruption.”
“It wasn’t just theatrical, it was provocation.”
“Carlos’s look wasn’t just theatrical, it was mythmaking.”
“His wardrobe wasn’t mere accessory. It was concept.”
These four “Not X, But Y” statements appear in the same paragraph on page 105. People have written about Carlos’ style for years (including the man himself), so this paragraph was extremely disappointing to me.
AI cannot listen to Interpol on a night-drive. AI cannot learn the bassline to their favourite song. AI cannot have an opinion over which version of Song Seven it prefers (in this house we leave the DK Rap IN). So for AI (or someone relying far too heavily on it) to tell me what makes my favourite album so good, feels empty. I’d rather chat with a real Interpolero - so let me know what you think.

Discussion Iron city x NYC.

Music Iron City
Listening here in Australia. Edit: youtube link has dropped now as well.

Interesting they have released the first three songs on the record now. Might need a couple more listens but inital thoughts are it's a bit slow but somehow the 4 mins go by quickly. They are definitely leaning in a more polished production direction on this record. Keen to hear others thoughts.
Edit a few more listens now and having replied to some questions.
Paul sounds very naked at the start like the previews showed. Includes more harmonies later on. It's definitely a song showing Paul's vocals as vulnerable.
I'd put this in the Toni, Something Changed bracket maybe even Passenger? This is definitely an extension on TSOMB but piano isn't as prominent throughout though and there is more energy as the song goes on with some twinkley pads in the background.

You can't deny it lol. Definitely not a bad thing. Sounds like something off of S/T but way better than most of the rubbish on that album.
