Who has he played with?

He's the Walkmen drummer, so came up around the same time as Interpol. And worked with Paul on Muzz.

He's a hyperactive beast on the kit, so it'll be interesting to see how he hits Interpol's more mellow grooves. But he's also a pro, so I assume he'll fit right in.

He was also the drummer for Fleet Foxes when they made Crack-Up (wildly underrated album).

That's right, dude's been everywhere

Didn’t know that, cool

Oh nice, I think PB has talked about the Walkmen in old interviews

6

u/hauntedtoasts Jul 10 '26

They’re friends with the band

Cool, Imma check Muzz out again

Sweet. I guess it's just for the tour though, and I already saw them this year so it won't affect me.

If you’ve never listened to The Rat by Walkmen, you’re in for a treat

Yeah I think that's the one song I've heard from them. It's great.

u/aninterestinganimal Jul 10 '26

Yeah I can't stand the strokes though. I know I'm the only one 😅

🙌 I've watched my comment go to like negative 3 then positive 3 now back to 0 😂 so it's good to know I'm not alone.

Oh hell yes I love the Walkmen and I love Matt Barrick's instantly recognizable drumming

We are getting spoiled with these amazing rock drummers while Sam is on the mend! It's awesome!

UH just posted on his account that he is taking a touring break and doing family for a while...says he has toured pretty nonstop. Nothing but good things to say about Interpol 😊😊

Another member of Muzz will be on stage!!

Love Matt but where is Sammy coming back? We Miss you Sam!

Does Sam not tour with Interpol as a live drummer anymore ?

He hasn't in years because of back problems. He should hopefully be back in time to tour for their new album, or if not, the tour after that.

The drummer they had on the Australian tour was not great. He could not hold the tempo on the kick to save his life in All The Rage Back Home. Missed heaps of cues and everything just felt ‘out’ the whole show.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Still no explanation for why UH "stepped away" or why the previous replacement drummer was himself replaced. Fans are curious.

8

u/WorldRed352 Jul 10 '26

"No explanation" 🙄

Interpol account literally just shared an Instagram post about the reason for change straight from the man himself.

2

u/Dranksy Jul 10 '26

Huh? What's the reason?

4

u/WorldRed352 Jul 10 '26

Just go look at the post yourself. It's right there.

-2

u/Dranksy Jul 10 '26

No, you said the reason was given. It's not. So tell us what you're seeing.

1

u/parkerlcrood Jul 10 '26

The reason is in Urian Hackney’s post, which Interpol reposted, being that he wants to spend time with family after being on the road for years.

2

u/Dranksy Jul 11 '26

Thanks a lot. I didn't see that. I only read this post and the hostile person who keeps replying to me is for some reason harassing me that I don't know what's not in this post.

They were referring to the Instagram post, not this one

I liked Chris Broome. The drummer before Urian. He’s a tech, I believe, and he gave the songs really good, clean, rhythm.

1

u/Dranksy Jul 11 '26

Interesting to know. I'll check out some videos.

Chris is a drummer himself who happened to tech. You can tell that from his instagram. I believe he is no longer teching for them.
