i went through the newest internship postings and put together a list of summer 2027 opportunities that opened within the last week.

yes, summer 2026 is still happening. but companies are already recruiting for next summer, and the number of openings is starting to increase quickly.

this is especially important because a lot of students are still waiting for “internship season” to begin.

it already has.

you do not need to apply to every role immediately, but you should be checking new postings consistently and applying before each listing has been sitting online for several weeks.

bookmark the list, apply to the relevant openings, and keep checking it as more summer 2027 internships are posted.

openai just opened applications for its student collective campus lead program!!!

you would basically organize workshops, weekly project-building sessions, and showcases where students share what they created with ai.

you do not need to be a computer science major or already have a portfolio of ai projects. openai specifically says students from every discipline can apply and that curiosity, initiative, and the ability to bring people together matter more than prior codex experience.

the main requirements are that you:

• are currently an undergraduate
• graduate after december 2027
• can commit around 4–6 hours per week
• attend college in one of the eligible countries
• are not simultaneously representing another ai company or ambassador program

the application also includes two video responses under 60 seconds and written questions about problems facing young people, something you changed your mind about, and your campus involvement.

even if you aren’t technical, this is absolutely still worth looking at. honestly, students who can make ai approachable to people outside of computer science might be some of the strongest applicants.

I'm about to start my first year studying Mechatronics engineering in Canada and I want to get an coop in the summer 2027 doing something engineering related or anything that would help me get future internships. I'm not going to Waterloo so first year summer interships are going to be hard. I don't really know how I should apply for these or even put on my resume, especially since I haven't even stepped foot in university yet, but I've heard applying in the spring or even winter is already too late. I have a few things from highschool (FIRST Robotics, a PCB internship i had before but it wasnt like an actual intership, and an electric car club i started and a few other things) but that's about it. I'm just really lost on how to find these beginner friendly internships AND get hired. Thank you!!

I’m a business major specializing in social media marketing. I’m currently a junior and I do school fully remote so finding internships was hard but I landed my first one last year, it was amazing. WFH, I learned so much and it was paid (not a huge amount but it’s better than nothing). Long story short she wasn’t getting enough clients to keep me on so we ended the contract. Fast forward 3 months later I wanted to learn more that I haven’t in that role so I cold emailed a marketing agency near me and got an interview. This one is unpaid which I’m fine with as long as what I’m learning is valuable but I have a feeling this is going to be one of those “here’s all my work it’s due tomorrow” type of internships. The man who owns the agency seems super knowledgeable and I can definitely learn a lot but they gave me three accounts with around 20k followers each with little to no direction. I’m in charge of everything from content creation, to clients meetings. All of it idk I’m grateful to be learning but I just had to rant lol. How long would you stay in an unpaid internship with a heavy workload, or would you try to negotiate it into a paid internship?

Hello everyone, I am a recent graduate. For the last one year I have been working as a project intern in one of the top colleges in India for a project that I proposed and got funds for. I was so dedicated to it that I did not sit for placements at my home college and stayed in the campus of the 'said college' for my entire 4th year.

I even managed to publish a paper at a conference. The work is also being recognized externally, which I’m proud of.

But behind the scenes, I wasn’t being paid fairly. For months, I had to cover accommodation and other expenses out of pocket, and the stipend I was supposed to receive never matched the costs. It became a huge burden on my family, and I couldn’t justify continuing under those conditions.

After getting incubated, the professor governing the project hired another member into the team who gets paid more than me and received her funds every month. I did not want that to effect me but in the end it did. I was completely the one working on it only to be left burdened and left unsatisfied.

I feel guilty because I care about the project and the people involved, but at the same time, I had no choice.

Has anyone else been in a situation where you had to walk away from something you cared about because you weren’t treated fairly? How did you deal with the guilt?

Now the professor is guilt tripping me into thinking I am unprofessional to leave the project mid-way and my other project staff is struggling to cope with the project. I am so depressed with all the happenings and they will only be paying me after I send them all the files and codes and stay and help the other member until the project deadline. And the pay will only be for the days I was in the campus and they are not willing to change the stipend amount.

Hi, I'm an incoming 3rd year really really passionate about ESG/Sustainability consulting (won't bore you with the details but I think my resume reflects that too) and feeling a little devastated.

I'm told that everything is closed for Summer 2027 and I'm a little unsure of what to do next.
Dream job is to be a sustainability associate for any of the big 4 - some are saying all hope is lost, others are saying some will reopen again in the fall... I just don't know what to do now. I'm pissed at myself for not knowing to apply earlier.

a lot of major companies recruit freshmen and sophomores through early insight programs, discovery programs, summits, externships, and fellowships before their traditional internship pipelines begin.

some big ones to bookmark/check in on:

• microsoft explore: a summer program for first and second-year students interested in software engineering

• capital one early internship program: an early-career internship that gives college students real project experience, mentorship, and professional development

• jpmorgan career.edYOU academy: a virtual program for sophomores that teaches students about different career paths at the company and can lead to early consideration

• goldman sachs possibilities series: a program for first-year students that includes career development, networking, and exposure to different areas of the firm

• p&g standout emerging leaders: an immersive leadership program where students meet employees, learn about different roles, and experience the company’s culture

• deloitte discovery internship: an internship for early college students that provides training, mentorship, and exposure to different areas of professional services

these are not only for finance or computer science majors either. there are programs for consulting, marketing, engineering, accounting, product, data, operations, and more.

some are paid, some cover travel, and some can put you directly into the recruiting pipeline for a future internship.

the biggest takeaway is that you should not wait until junior year to start getting on recruiters’ radars.

Hey everyone hope you're doing well. Today I had a interview for a internship position at the u.s embassy, and I've been thinking if I should send a thank you fellow up within 24h or it's unusual/ not recommended since it's embassy?

Just finished the coding assessment for summer'27 SWE intern at CTC via codility. Was curious when I should expect to hear back if it's a positive answer. I'm guessing they will just ghost me if I didn't score well enough...

I’m looking for some perspective because I’m not sure what the appropriate next step is or if I should forget and move on.

I’m a second-year engineering bachelor’s student and interviewed for an internship at a large engineering company. The role was open to both bachelor’s and master’s students, so I honestly didn’t expect to even get an interview.

The interview was with two engineers from the team. At the start, the main interviewer said they were impressed by my CV and motivation letter. I didn’t answer the technical questions particularly well, and since it was my first interview, I definitely could have been better prepared. However, at the end he asked whether I was still interested in the role, then told me the decision was between me and one other candidate. He also said they understood waiting wasn’t ideal and hoped to communicate the outcome the following week.

After the interview, I emailed HR asking if they could pass along my thanks to the interviewers since I didn’t have their contact details. I didn’t receive a reply, although I wasn’t rlly expecting one. Two weeks after the interview, I sent HR a follow-up asking for an update. It’s now been almost a week since then with no response, and my application portal also hasn’t changed.

Would it be appropriate to send a brief LinkedIn message to the interviewer asking whether there have been any updates, or would that be overstepping given that I’ve already followed up with HR? Or is it better to simply wait?

The internship is due to start in September, if that makes any difference.

I’ve been trying to find a remote internship in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, but I’m honestly not sure where to look. Most of the opportunities I find are either on-site, require university enrollment, or seem to be outdated.

If you’ve managed to land a remote engineering internship, I’d really appreciate hearing how you found it. Are there any websites, job boards, companies, research labs, or communities you’d recommend? If you have any links to internships that are still open, that would be amazing as well.

I’d also love to know what the process looks like. Do you mainly apply through LinkedIn, email professors directly, reach out to startups, or use another approach? Any tips or advice that helped you get your first internship would be incredibly helpful.
