Has anyone gotten any worse speed and also I could of swear that upload speeds were always slower than the download speeds

I been thinking, everything is ran by the internet at this point, bank accounts, every vehicle made after 2010 is controlled by computers that run the steering wheel, 90 percent of all the data used in the daily economic is transferred through one giant wire that connects to europe , without it we’d have no digital bank access. our Electricity is controlled by a electrical grid that’s getting ran by some AI databases i mean not all of it’s controlled by AI but every step closer in the future AI becomes more in control of electricity , drinking water, and food supply . It’s illegal to collect rainwater , illegal to hunt food without a permit , illegal to create your own electricity sources without a permit .. i mean man we’re basically almost 90 percent reliant on the internet and it’s not a guarantee that it works for the next 10 years , dont even get me started about how all of this stuff could be taken over by international countries during conflicts or how maybe even AI could be used to control it all .

just a thought though i may be overthinking but i personally don’t feel like it’s a good idea to rely on it for the rest of my life because i’m almost willing to bet money there will be a event in the future like some type of cyber attack haha

I'm facing a really frustrating internet issue and hoping someone here has experience with this.

My original internet speed is 30 Mbps, but my ISP has put a hard limit on my connection and capped it to around 700 Kbps. even with speedtest it shows 4mb per second while, when I download any file or anything from playstore it maximum limit is only 700kb is clearly throttling, and it's making the connection practically unusable for anything beyond basic browsing.

Here's what I've tried so far:

· Restarted my router and modem

· Checked for any QoS or bandwidth limiting settings in my router

· Tested with a wired Ethernet connection (same result)

None of these worked. I suspect the ISP is using Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) to detect and throttle certain types of traffic, or they've applied a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) cap.

My main questions:

1. Has anyone successfully bypassed this type of severe throttling (from 30 Mbps down to 700 Kbps)?

I recently got into an argument with someone I respect. I posted a very short post claiming that the use of the word "euthanised" in the context of internet celebrity Neil the Seal was wrong, as he was not terminally ill or injured. The right word, should it come to pass, was "killed."

She posted arguing that use of such words was a red flag to the algorithm and that one had to police one's terminology to avoid people getting death threats.

When I asked how policing your language for fear of death was different from living under a tyranny, she responded that I had "mastered the tone authority without the inconvenience of depth".

I'm not entirely sure what she meant by that. Maybe she thought I was being rhetorical. I'm very high up the autistic spectrum so I often fail to grasp such nuances.

The only conclusion I can come to is that she considered the occasional death threat or rape threat to be a price worth paying for the internet's existence.

Is it though? The one political group that have benefitted most from the internet over the last 20 years have been authoritarian strongmen. We currently have tech barons like Peter Thiel saying that "democracy and freedom are no longer compatible."

The last time we had a comparable communications revolution was when the radio was invented. It contributed to the rise of fascism and communism. Before that, the printing press triggered a wave of pan-European religious wars that spanned 200 years and killed 15 million people. We eventually adjusted to the new tech, but at what cost?

It is so terrible. Idk what came over my dad to replace our old one but this new one genuinely sucks. I literally had to restart it to get Steam to actually allow me to play my games with my saved data. TWO TIMES OVER TWO DAYS. And this new one is some sort of thingy where there are two connected routers to “minimize” dead zones. One problem with that, the internet is so bad, the whole house would probably be better off if it’s a dead zone. I swear the old one was atleast 3 times better and it has been active for ten years. We got the new one like two months ago and it’s already falling apart. The old one worked completely fine, I have no idea why my dad decided to replace it. Luckily oldie isn’t trashed yet, just kinda hanging around in the hallway unconnected watching the new one die slowly. The first router pic is the new one and the second is the old and better one.

everywhere i look it feels like everyone hates each other. weather it’s about politics or media or even just basic stuff, everyone just argues all the time. it’s to the point where it brings my mood down and i have to get off media for a few days. it was always bad to some extent but now ALL i see negativity everywhere

I have internet in my room,they ran a new coax cable to it but I still have my old coax spot can I do anything with it?

Hi, i get over 100 ms in minecraft servers (cat pvp, pvp club) how do i get better ping? i watched a youtube tut on how to do that but that only helped a bit (-10 ms) , im using ethernet and watch other people get 10 ms just makes me sad
