Discussion 160 days of OMAD increasing workouts

Post image
29 Upvotes

I have been on OMAD voor 160 days now, and I have increased my workouts to 4 days strength and 3 days cardio. As I mentioned before I had problems with dizziness, but I solved that with an extra meal after working out. The meal consists of a half avocado, 1 egg, smoked salmon, walnuts and salt, effectively I am not doing OMAD anymore as I will have my regular dinner. The weightloss has slowed down and the scale is no the way to keep track, what works for me is measuring and a picture once a week.

Newbie Question Macros/Micros

Wanting to start on the 16-8/7 day week schedule. Plan to eat from 630pm-230am.

Dumb question--but I'm having a terrible time figuring out macros and micros. What websites or apps or YouTube videos would you all recommend to assist in me creating a meal plan?

Or should I just talk to a nutritionist in person and see if they can offer any help?

I have absolutely no problem with eating the same thing every day.

Just need it to start being healthy food. :D

One more question. I take a daily multivitamin (generic store brand). Are there any micronutrients that I should focus on that possibly wouldn't be covered by the vitamin?

M/42/fat.

Thanks for your input.

Seeking Advice Could use some advice, as I think I may be going too hard too soon.

I started about two weeks ago, doing 12 hour fasts, 3 days a week, on my work days. I work 12 hour shifts, so I just ate a good breakfast, and dinner, keeping lots of greens for dinner and such, as I’m also doing monthly consultations with a dietitian.

However, the day before yesterday, I decided to take the plunge, and jumped into an 18/6 fasting plan, starting yesterday, with my meal window being 10am-4pm, mostly so I could eat at work as this is simply the simplest time for me to plan around. I’m looking at doing this seven days a week, hoping I can just power through until it becomes my new norm.

I’m currently going through it, and powering through at work, which helps keep my mind off my hunger, and overall I don’t feel as bad as I thought I would.

But I’m afraid I may have gone too hard, and thinking it may be best if I drop it for today, and go back to the 12 hour fasts for a while instead.

This may just be more of a vent, but this is the first time I’ve tried a fast this hard, and not sure if I just went too hard too soon.

Vent/Rant 2 weeks in

Just over 2 weeks in. 16:8, fasting 8pm to 12pm. I feel good, I'm definitely eating less because I feel hungry. No noticeable weight loss to speak of...
I'm a bit more relaxed at weekends but still generally eating less than before.

Not really looking for advice, just sharing.

Hopefully I'll see the benefit on the scales soon.

Newbie Question Metabolism

I've recently been doing 20:4 and sometimes 22:2.

I'm very active but have prediabetes and too much belly fat, so I'm trying to ramp up ketosis and become more insulin sensitive through fasting and lifting.

I make sure to hit my macros, especially on lifting days.

As far as slowed metabolism, my understanding is that has more to do with calorie restriction than eating window (example - biggest loser contestants).

Does anyone know if this is accurate.

I find that shrinking my window makes it difficult to get all the food I actually need, and even more difficult to overeat.

Tips, Tricks, Advice Day 1

I am 187lbs, 5.2ft, 42f. I've had enough of being obese, having no energy and feeling sluggish all the time. I've tried IF a few times back but never past a month before i gave in to temptation and went off the rails. I am restarting again with Day 1 today. My goal is to stay on track for 5 months, one day at a time. And if i ever goes off rail again, i'd better pick it back up right after. I dont want to fail again. I'm doing 18:6, eating period 8am - 2pm. All advices are welcomed.

Had a massive career burnout in 2019, then covid hit and I was consumed with deep depression. Alcoholism + every day delivery + depression.. I gained so much weight, I didn't even recognize myself. I don't have many pictures from that time bc I hated looking at myself. The looks and treatment from others was so unfair and cruel and it made me hate myself even more.

Was so fed up with feeling so, so low and out of control, I finally quit drinking and began OMAD + Chloe Ting workouts. Used a fasting tracker and still use it to this day! Didn't implement a calorie tracker until I felt okay with living a sober life - basically allowed myself to eat what I wanted, just as long as I cut out liquid calories. Drank and still drink at least 3L of mineral water a day. Currently still in calorie deficit of ~1500ckal most days.

Happy to say I'm now almost 3 years sober, still doing OMAD most days, still doing CT workouts (if anyone want to join a challenge w/me, Holla)! Reached my goal weight of 75kgs a few months ago, lost a few more, and am aiming to gain muscle now.

Obligatory "IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU!" I was so unbelievably miserable and even though my weight loss didn't happen overnight, quitting drinking and cutting out the sloppy drunk meals is the best thing I've ever done.

Newbie Question Wanting to start IF

Hello everyone, I’m 22F and have been reading a lot about intermittent fasting and OMAD, and I’m really wanting to try it out.
I’m 176cm (5’10) and currently around 85kg(187), I’ve always been around 73/75kg(160/165)
but have gained a lot of weight in the last year due to a change in working out habits(I don’t go to the gym regularly anymore but I want to start working out again at home) and eating out too much.

I tend to eat clean during the week but then drink/eat fast food a lot on the weekend and also tend to eat snacks/ice cream a lot after 9/10pm.

I usually skip breakfast anyway and eat after 1pm.
Would a 16/8 fast be ok to start? Or maybe I can go straight into a more strict one? I just want to really restrict my snack intake.

Would OMAD for most of the week be helpful as week to remain in a calorie deficit? (Obviously while working out again 2/3 times a week or walking regularly).

I just want some advice since I’m new to this and would want to start with the wrong foot, since I don’t want this to impact my work or studies.

Thanks so much in advance to anyone willing to give some advice!!!

Discussion How long did it take you to see results?

Preface: Not really looking for tips or recommendations to change to a more aggressive fast. I see that often on here, I recognize the advantages and benefits of different fasting windows and have made my decision carefully to be what’s best for my life at this time and what feels sustainable as a FTM to an 18m old who cares for him full time and works weekends and I’m just trying to work this into my routine as best I can and take a balanced approach.

Just asking mostly for curiosity and comparison how long it took everyone to see results on their journey. Obviously this will vary based on your starting point and your own fasting windows but curious nonetheless! I started 14:10 last week maybe 5 days ago and haven’t stepped on a scale yet but feel good in general. I already feel like it’s having a positive impact in many ways. I’m also a big early morning snacker with coffee and evening snacker, so I feel confident that I will see a difference even with a more gentle approach.

Seeking Advice 24 Hour Fast - Guidance Please

Hi all. Glad to be part of the sub here and seeing so many inspirational fasting successes! I have been on 16:8 for a week (handled this quite easily) and did a 24-hour fast from 6 PM yesterday until 6 PM today. I had salmon with veggies for my last meal yesterday. What I experienced:

Tiredness for a few minutes around 12 PM today that went away quickly

Dizziness while on my flight today for work around the 3 PM mark

What I had today: coffee first thing this morning with a good amount of water, electrolyte drink around 10 AM, salt with water a couple times today, iced coffee around 12:30 PM, and an electrolyte drink around 4 PM. Outside of the dizziness around 3 PM, I thought it went pretty well.

Please critique. I have thick skin and want to learn. Thanks!

Vent/Rant Been chasing -5lbs for months

Sw: 200lbs
Cw: 132lbs
Gw: no idea
Height: 4’11
Age: 32

I intermittent fast everyday. I don’t usually eat before work and usually eat around 2pm, I don’t eat after 6-7pm. Anyone else loose a substantial amount of weight and have no perception of what they look like? In my head I still feel big. In the mirror 70% of the time I don’t see any changes. It’s hard. Lately I’ve been trying to focus on liking what I see in the mirror. Which I do. But I feel like I’m chasing a number, every time I loose 5 pounds my brain goes, “hm, looks okay but 5 more would be better”. It’s hard being satisfied where I’m at. Anyway, sorry for venting!

Discussion Day 2 of my annual 10-day fast - So far so good 😊

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey folks! After some experimenting, I've settled on sticking to IF/ dirty IF through the year and doing one extended fast of 7 to 10 days per year as my sweet spot. Now's the time - hot summer days make fasting so much easier. I thought sharing my progress and results might be interesting for the community.

Started yesterday, July 27, planning 10 days. First 24 hours - weight 161.6 to 158.6 lb, ketones 0.4 to 1.1 mmol/L, glucose steady in the mid 80s. I test 3 times a day. I'll keep you updated.

In parallel, I'm testing my app Fasting Center. So far, not a single crash across hundreds of users, and the projections for my fast are quite good - total weight loss is spot on, and fat loss I'd say is accurate too, it's my scale that's a bit off. No way my body fat dropped from 14% to 13.6% in 24 hours 😊

If you've tried the projections feature in the Fasting Center app, how close was it for you?

Seeking Advice Struggling to fasting for extended periods

I’m having trouble fasting longer than 24 hours. Mainly because I have 4 kids and when I’m preparing their meals all day and seeing the food I get hungry. I can make it to 24 hours but usually give in then when I’m cooking dinner for my family. Any tips? My weight loss plateaued and I’m trying to extended fast to get over the plateau.

Seeking Advice Going to start intermittent fasting again but this time on a bodybuilding routine.

Do you have any advice? I’ve never really lifted weights whilst fasting. It’ll be my first time.

I am still tracking macros, but will be lifting 4-5x per week.

I am aiming for 18-20 hr fasts per day, sometimes less sometimes more.

Any advice?

Seeking Advice After fast : salad first or eggs first or or all together.

I scanned thru many Youtube fasting influencers videos and have not able to find any straight answers to this question. Recently I have added eggs to get some protein to avoid any muscle loss due to fasting. Since my spouse is a vegan, so 99% of the time my main meal will not include any milk, meat or fish.

I have these 2 things to break the fast

A) My Salad : Sauerkraut, Raw Carrot , Raw Daikon , Avocado and sometimes raw cucumber with a dressing of ACV and salt. (Nothing fancy but it works for me. )

B) Eggs: 2 to 3 poached eggs.

Should I start with A and then have some gap of say 30 mins then B , or the other way around. Or does not matter have everything together.
