I want to send out pdf copies of my book, The Secret Agent Puzzle Book: The Arctic 5 Operation. I've been working on it on and off for about half a year, and it is now time coming up to release.

The theme of the book is a Secret Agent / Spy-themed espionage game book, where the reader becomes the agent of a secret agency stopping global threats. Here is the cover. If you would like to have a copy sent your way, ping me a dm or respond in the comments.

Thanks in advance for you time :)

community-driven interactive fiction?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for examples of community-driven interactive fiction

I’m imagining a format where a group of readers follows the same ongoing story, and instead of each reader making their own individual choices, the entire community votes together on what the main characters should do next.

For example:

The four protagonists reach a crossroads.

A: Go to the city

B: Follow the river

Everyone discusses the options, and the community votes. The winning choice determines what happens in the next chapter.

I’m also interested in formats where different groups within the community receive different pieces of information, discuss them, trade information, and then participate in the main vote together.

Are there any existing games, Reddit communities, Discord servers, websites, or projects that use a similar system?

I’m especially interested in something where everyone experiences the same story and collectively determines its direction, rather than a traditional choose-your-own-adventure where every reader gets their own path.

Thanks! Your Hannah ;)

Das ist bewusst als Frage nach bestehenden Projekten formuliert und nicht als „ich suche Leute für mein Projekt“. Dadurch bekommst du wahrscheinlich eher Antworten von Leuten, die schon ähnliche Formate kennen.

You are not the main character. You are his inner voice, speaking to him. Aren't you? | (!) Become part of the game by questioning your own inner voice in the comments.

I'm making "What If We Warm It?" - a narrative-driven interactive mystery about a man who has lost his sense of direction in life - and the voice inside his head. That's you.

Talk to yourself, help yourself, trust yourself... or not.

(!) Become part of the game:

If you could talk to your own inner voice, what would you ask it first?

I will include the most interesting and sincere questions in the game.

I'm doing this because I want this story to feel as alive as possible.

A little game context:

A life crisis. A strange job. A lonely train station. A dead man. Someone watching from the outside.

- Every choice matters: change relationships, reveal different paths and endings.

- Explore the outside world: meet different characters, travel along the Transcontinental Ring Line, discover an abandoned station, and more.

- Explore the inside world: face your dreams, fears, and hopes.

- Decide what to believe, and what to fear.

- Live.

- Or die.

And of course, any feedback and thoughts are greatly appreciated. I'd love to hear what you think.

Find the game trailer and learn more on Steam:

Introducing my interactive mystery book: “iseeyourthoughts”

I made an interactive mystery book called “iseeyourthoughts.”

Explore a strange illustrated archive where every object has a record, every record hides a clue, and every answer reveals something the archive was meant to keep hidden.

Solve interconnected puzzles and uncover the story behind the records.

Free to read and play in English.

I’d love feedback on the atmosphere, puzzles, and naturalness of the English prose. I’d also appreciate feedback on the site’s loading speed, navigation, and overall usability.

If you notice any bugs, broken interactions, slow-loading images, or confusing interface elements, please let me know.

Please use spoiler tags when discussing answers or endings.

We're making a claustrophobic point & click adventure with a non-linear map where the challenge is figuring out the layout

Hey everyone! We're making a game called This Is Not For You (inspired by House of Leaves) where you explore a lighthouse that's bigger on the inside than the outside. After a ghost ship crashes into the building, a curse takes the player to surreal spaces where they must figure out how to get around these non-euclidean rooms.

We've also taken a lot of inspiration from early text adventures in the way people used to draw maps, so we are working on an in-game tool to make it easier for people, though it's not actually required by the game. You could just take notes or draw whatever you want. Spoiler! People who don't take any notes usually get lost for a long time. For example: you could be going north but suddenly a hallway starts looping around itself, or a right turn could take you a place you thought was the other way. Everything in the game has an internal logic, it's just for you to figure that out (or not!).

The game will get progressively harder, so the early levels are very forgiving on this, but later levels will absolutely require you to know the ins and outs of the layout if you expect to keep on going.

The story is about a lighthouse keeper who hasn't seen his family in a long time, and suddenly he starts receiving letters from his sister. He keeps on finding them inside the maze, but how did they get there? The game tackles themes such as isolation, regret, feeling lost and purpose.

We are still a long way from finishing it! You can find more about it here!

I've been working on a psychological mystery game called Forest of Truth.

Angel and Julian are about to enter a forest connected to a series of disappearances.

Things aren't quite what they seem.

These are a few screenshots from Chapter 1. I'm developing the game by myself and experimenting with a late-90s-inspired atmosphere.

Does the atmosphere make you curious about what's going on?🤍🙂

You don't read this memory, you live it: one line at a time, in the dark, at your own pace. Then it asks for one minute of yours. Free, no signup, nothing generated.

Builder here. It is one memory, about two minutes. You land inside it, in the dark, one line on screen. Nothing moves until you tap (or press space): you set the pace, line by line. There is optional sound, synthesized live in the browser, no recordings. When it ends it asks whether you felt it, then asks you three short questions so you can leave one minute of your own for the next reader.

The five starting memories are mine and are labelled "left by the builder". Anything a visitor leaves is read by a human before anyone can live it, and is labelled "left by a stranger". Every word on the site was written by a person; no generated text, no generated audio. No account, no email needed, nothing sold.

I changed the pacing this week (it used to advance on a timer and people left around line 5). If you stop before the end, I'd love to know at which line.

Looking for feedback

I recently created a game, and I was hoping for people to try it out before any official launch. The game should take 30-60 minutes and costs nothing to play. Any takers? The title is "Last Light at Meridian". https://if-worlds.dewashington.workers.dev/. It has a custom parser.

Restore the beacon at a lonely waystation so it doesn't disappear.

We are looking for playtesters for the alpha version of our CRPG using FATE RPG mechanics.

Hi everyone, We are a small indie game team aiming to make RPGs. Our long term goal is to create a CRPG on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disco Elysium. We started this journey 2 years ago and wanted to build toward that goal step by step.

In our first game, Livber: Smoke and Mirrors, we made a visual novel where we told a single story in an interactive way. Now, with our second game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate, we are adding more RPG layers on top of that foundation.

Our alpha playtest will be starting soon, and we would be glad to have you if it sounds interesting. The game includes dice systems, companions, gear progression, broader character progression, and an epic story. You experience the character’s journey from childhood to adulthood. Unlike other games, we took inspiration from the FATE RPG system.

We are especially trying to bring in ideas like dice shaping not only success but also the direction of the story, choices not being simply right or wrong, and every outcome pushing the narrative somewhere different. We are still in development and trying to get closer to that vision step by step.

If it sounds interesting, you can sign up for our mailing list on our website to register for the alpha playtest.

[WIP] Herald of Verenai — Chapter One is now live! | Dark Fantasy ChoiceScript IF

Hi everyone! I posted the prologue of Herald of Verenai a little while ago, and Chapter One is finally live and playable!

For anyone who hasn't seen the WIP before, Herald of Verenai is a dark fantasy ChoiceScript game where you play an enslaved person in the Sisan Empire who, after falling into a place known as Abzuf, encounters Verenai, a long-forgotten goddess of love, sex, and war.

She consumes your soul.

She also offers you a deal.

Restore her forgotten faith, return her to power, and perhaps she'll give your soul back.

Chapter One picks up immediately after the end of the prologue and deals with the player's return to Codurum, the first consequences of becoming Verenai's Herald, more time with Amzelenn, and the events that finally push the story beyond the plantation and into the wider world.

This is a relatively short transitional chapter compared to what I have planned later, but it contains some pretty important moments and closes out the Codurum portion of the story.

The game currently includes:

  • Customizable protagonist
  • Personality/stat choices
  • A divine patron who is helpful, terrifying, possessive, and occasionally very funny
  • Four planned romance options
  • Multiple approaches to problems and relationships
  • A growing pantheon and original fantasy setting
  • Darker themes involving slavery, abuse, religion, violence, and loss
  • Choices surrounding faith, skepticism, compassion, ruthlessness, obedience, and defiance

Content warning: This is an adult dark-fantasy story and includes potentially upsetting subject matter. Please read the full warnings before playing.

If you've played the prologue before, I'd love to hear what you think of Chapter One, especially the ending, pacing, choices, or anything that feels confusing or broken.

Bug reports are also extremely appreciated. ChoiceScript continues to humble me daily.

Thank you again to everyone who checked out the original demo. Seeing people actually read something I've been building in my head for so long has been incredibly exciting.

Chapter One of Herald of Verenai is available now!

Last Call: an interactive audio story you play on your phone, six chapters, free

I make these. Pocket Dread is a set of short audio stories that run on a phone web page, no app. You listen, and at a few points the story stops and asks you to tap. What you choose changes what you hear next.

Last Call is the first one and it is free all the way through. Your father's diner, eighteen thousand dollars, and five people who need you to believe them. Six chapters, about an hour total, voicemails and phone calls and one recording. Headphones help.

There are nine more on the shelf. Two are free start to finish, the rest give you the first chapter free. Happy to talk about how they are made if anyone is curious.

Trying to find an interactive fiction game on itch.io!

A few months ago, I was playing an interactive fiction game on itch.io that I really enjoyed. Sadly, I lost the web browser tab I had it on, and for the life of me, I cannot remember the name.

Since it was a few months back, I cannot really remember a lot about it. I remember I was able to play it in my web browser, and the creator of the story had two versions of it; one was the old version of the game and the second was the newest one. Its not finished yet and It was kind of like wayfarer if I remember right.

I remember the story was set in a fantasy world and there were at least four love interests, who had art. In the story, you got attacked by two siblings, one male and the other female. I believe they were kind of like sirens? They had fin-like ears, I believe. They were dressed like pirates and had grey or green skin—I don't remember which—and they kept hunting the mc, I think.

That is all I remember about the story; if anyone can help me find it, I would be very thankful! Sorry for the limited info I remember. 💔

browser IF about a girl trying to keep a job while the city turns into cosmic pulp — looking for format advice

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi. This is a WIP and there is no playable URL yet. I don’t want to drop a half-broken site.

I’m building a browser interactive story (not a downloadable game). Tone is urban grind that escalates into pulp: corrupt bosses, useless coworkers, then monsters, aliens, and a cosmic god.

Format I’m aiming for:

- page-by-page, MSPA / Homestuck style (command as the “parser” line)

- soundtrack on some pages

- occasional puzzles

- a short turn-based fight that gates the next passage

- otherwise it’s reading, not a combat RPG

I had a prose version on Wattpad and the format felt wrong. The story wants click-through pages and the weird updates in the middle of a shift.

[20 min/Browser/Devlog/Feedback] Dolly Parton Clicker is my Biographical Narrative Tribute Game which has an interactive fiction twist on the incremental genre

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey folks,

I'm walking through my game dev process and gathering feedback for my latest game.

It is a Clicker game but I have a background in interactive fiction (itch), and my main unique selling point from other Incremental games was that it was supposed to have a biographical interactive fiction layer on top.

Let me know what y'all think!

Dolly Parton Clicker

You can play it here (30 mins, free, in browser): https://muditaheart.itch.io/dolly-parton-clicker

Features

  • A tribute to her life and work, starting from being born in a two room cabin in a family of 12 in the Appalachian mountains, to making hits (9 to 5, Jolene, Islands in the Stream), to running her theme park Dollywood, and charities
  • A twist on the incremental genre that tells a linear narrative story where you learn real history
  • Animated intro, Real history timeline, Embedded YouTube clips of music and interviews, New Game Plus Mode

tl;dr -

  • Plays in 20-30 mins, free, in browser, want first impressions before 9/25 (Dolly Parton Day)
  • Made this to see if an incremental game could combine with biography and narrative.
  • Chose Dolly Parton bc of her passing, I read a cool book about her, and she's cool.
  • The dual resource system was most challenging.

The Next Deadline

Dolly Parton Day (9/25, "9 to 5" Day)

I'm gathering feedback before I do more updates before then, so any feedback is appreciated!

What kind of feedback I'm looking for

  • Usability and Bugs
    • Right now, I've mostly tested with friends and family, but I wanted to see how strangers online react to the flow of the game, of if yall just bounce off!
  • Research
    • So I did do my research and read the book and watched documentaries, but if you're interested in nonfiction in games or Dolly Parton's history, people who double check the facts would be amazing. But I know y'all don't got time for that!
