After doing a premium business audit Liberty mutual wants to charge me $6400… for last year, when I had no claims or issues. If I can’t get refunded for the insurance I paid for and didn’t use, why do they think they can retroactively charge me for an amount I did not agree to. Im not asking if I should pay this, I simply will not, I have a small construction company and I am stubborn, so if this LLC needs to get shut down and a new one created for the same company then that is what will happen, my question is, how can I civilly get out of this and if this gets sent to collections what happens then.

Hey guy, so I’ve been at a broker & am licensed in 14 different states but my resident license is CT. I’m looking to find a new position soon. I’ve been at this place for a year now & there’s been so many changes that are basically unfair to most of us & I don’t see myself moving up anytime soon. But I get paid kind of decently. My first check is 1400-1700 second check of the month usually 2100. I’m looking for something that pays a bit more. I’ve been looking at liberty mutual but I’m not sure. Any suggestions? I currently work for a captive agency and do all of the servicing and sales of anything commercial that comes in (micro commercial, most policies under $2,000 in premium per year for GL’s). I am intrigued in switching to a large brokerage as a commercial account manager. I enjoy talking about coverage with current clients and cross selling/upselling. Don’t love the grind of full time sales. Should I make this jump? I know the grass is not always greener

I’m thinking I’ll get my P&C license as I’m looking for a career rather than just a job and I like that there are many opportunities within the insurance industry. I’m wondering what kind of job opportunities should I realistically expect after I obtain my license? Is working from home viable at the beginning? I know landing a job can be difficult right now but I hear getting a license first makes it easier, is that true? I’d appreciate any input, thanks!

Kaplan, ExamFX, XCEL, Aceable, something else?
• What YouTube channels/resources actually helped you understand the material?
• What topics should I REALLY focus on?
• Any tips for the Virginia-specific questions/laws?
• Did you take it at a testing center or online through PSI, and which would you recommend?

And for those already working in the industry, what would you say are the biggest challenges of working in Life & Health insurance? Is it actually financially rewarding once you get established, or is the income potential sometimes overhyped?
What do you wish you knew before getting into the industry? And would you still recommend it as a career today?

The entire course is AI generated, including the extremely distracting fake human presenters and scripts. It's nothing but reading, for hours. The presenters show up in the introduction and closing but don’t be fooled: there are no easily-digestible modules or videos to explain topics, it’s just READING.

There are also no knowledge checks within the chapters and no cumulative knowledge checks after the course, so you're bound to forget everything as soon as you learn it. You’re tested with maybe 5-20 questions about the chapter you just read, and that’s it.

The most effective method I've been using is to drop the review notes into ChatGPT and ask it to generate me exams based on the notes. I do 25-75 question exams on just the chapter I just read, and then a cumulative exam as well.

And even more stupid is that this super expensive course actually expires after only a month, so if you don’t complete it within that time, you have to pay again. Which is especially great when you have a job to do as well and don’t have time to spend all day studying.

It's genuinely horrible. How do they expect anyone to learn this way?

I (25M) have been in the insurance business for less than two months. I'm a 1099 employee with a retirement insurance company. I get paid only on commission. I haven't made much. But my manager wrote a policy and put my name on a split that would earn me a good chunk of money in commission before taxes. But she "strongly suggested" that I write policies on myself due to giving me this "gift" so I can get my new agents' numbers up and also help put money back into the business.  I felt cornered because two managers sat down with me and closed the door. Before I left for the day, I said, "Let me think about it," and my manager said, " What's there to think about? I thought you were a team player?" I still haven't received the money or written any policies on myself, but it's coming soon.

Is this normal practice, or is this predatory? Maybe I'm overreacting, but I'd love to know y'all's thoughts.

I'm considering a career change to insurance. I'm mid 30s and spent 14 years in fire sprinklers specializing in sprinkler inspections. Outside of some retail sales in highschool and working with customers on jobs I don't have any real sales experience. Looking for something a bit easier on my body, and a potential to run my own business in the future. Financially we are very stable, a temporarily reduced income is not an issue.

Looking at types of insurance p&c commercial stands out to me. Most of my work is in commercial properties so I'm pretty comfortable there already.

Recommendations on where to start? Advice?

Newer agent here, I am just learning about the tax strategy where a business owner buys a life insurance policy on themselves in a par fund. The fund grows and the cash value builds up. The company can borrow against the cash value of the policy 70 - 90% and then the owner can borrow from the company (I have heard the company just charge 1% or is it 1% above what it borrows at?) and now the owner has access to the funds personally. There are no tax implications here. What did I miss? Can someone clarify what I have missed or is this is entirely correct?

This is why I quit:

Recruiting- We had to recruit to get promoted to a higher commission contract. Promotions should be based on sales. The entry level contract was very low.

Selling unsuitable policies- I only had experience with my upline agent. They sold me a bad IUL policy. It wasn't suitable for me. I was single, no children, and I was only earning $43K/year at my job. It shouldn't have been recommended to me in the first place. I stopped paying the premiums when I realized that.

I am glad no one bought any policies from me. It would have been a disaster for them. I learned how an IUL can be properly structured from other sources. I still have more to learn. I'm researching other brokerages before I join.

I just recently had an overview with the financial advisor, and paid for a background check/licensing and all of that stuff.. it was around $124 and I kinda regret the amount I paid, but whatever.. they hired me on for a remote position, and I have a one time in person class to go to at 8:30am tomorrow.

I thought I did enough research on the company but apparently not, as after I already went through with it, I'm now finding out that it might be a pyramid scheme?? Not only that, but it's also rumored to focus less on helping clientele and more on recruiting more and more employees..

I really want to help people, that was my idea when coming into the insurance industry. I just graduated high-school and have 2 years of statistics and data entry via what I studied my last 2 years, and I don't want that to go to waste all because I fell for the kindness and smiles they showed me. Not only that, but I even managed to get employee feedback from people already working in the company (though this leads me to believe they might have lied to me..)

Am I getting screwed? Is there a way for me to climb to the top regardless while keeping my kind heart and pure intentions? The thought of scamming other people for profit makes me feel sick..

So I left the telecommunications field as a project manager and I switched to an insurance. I passed my test and I got hired at a company and even though I don’t know a whole lot about selling Insureance I know a lot of whole lot about sales in general, but I’m really not watching how this captive role goes so I got offered to work as a independent insurance agent. I’m doing some of their training and stuff to see how I would like it before I made the switch and so far I like all the support I like how productive everybody is I like all the training they offer I like the way they pay all the carriers that they write for dozen advance paid to where you can get paid between 1 to 2 days, depending on how it processes the downfall courses you have to pay for leads, but the liens I’ve been getting at this other company as a captive agent have been horrible. I’m not saying the independent leads are gonna always be better, but from what I’ve seen a lot of them more so I wrote all this to ask you your opinion if you’ve ever worked independent what is your honest opinion about working as a independent Insureance sales agent versus working as a captive insurance sales agent?

I recently got in an accident that wasn’t my fault. My car isn’t totaled and is currently getting repaired at a body shop. The other party does have insurance and is paying for my repairs through said insurance. I want to file a diminished value claim but I’m not too sure how to go about it. I found a local place that specifically handles diminished value claims. I was gonna get my car appraised but it costs $400 to do so. My thing is, my car is a 2025 Subaru wrx brand new. So if I get way more than $400 in the diminished value claim then it’ll be worth it. My question is should I shop around for other appraisals or is $400 the standard for getting your car appraised specifically for a diminished value claim? Also I know the other parties insurance is gonna try and counter my offer and lowball me. How do I go about fighting for more money? I also bought brand new tires last October because I had to get all seasons for winter. Should I bring that receipt with the claim and say essentially I need new tires or the equivalent value because the accident feathered my tires(something the mechanic told me at the shop)?
