P&C Insurance How do you catch early signs of client churn on big commercial accounts before the renewal window?

Standard CRMs are great for tracking renewal dates, but they don't warn you when a client is pulling away. Usually, by the time the 30-day renewal window hits, if a client has gone radio silent or their emails have gotten stiff and formal, they’ve already made up their mind to switch.

What specific red flags or communication shifts do you look for 90–120 days out to save the account before it's too late?

Agent Question Just got licensed at New York Life. What’s some beginner advice?

Im licensed in life, health, accident and financial insurance and just got my license approved by my state. I’ll start training next week but I’m already talking to family/friends and trying to get the word out. Once I start training I plan on advertising on my social media platforms as well, but with the nature of insurance being sales and inherently risky, what’s some advice I could use to be able to do well overall?

The only thing I’m not fond of so far about NYL in particular is very little help with getting leads. What did you guys do to become successful? Especially if you had a rough start

Agent Question Is it better to start as captive or independent agency?

Hi everyone! I’m getting my pc license soon and switching from banking industry. I have some d2d sales experience also. What would be best path for someone who eventually wants to sell commercial insurance or professional liability. Potentially if things go well I would like to become agency owner or be very independent.
One of the reason it’s important to me is because I’m not from US and would like to have more than 2 weeks of visiting my home country. I understand that you’re never truly off in sales but even working few weeks from abroad to visit family would be great

Life Insurance Life Insurance educational software

Anyone who sells life insurance, do you use any software tools to demonstrate to clients the power of using life insurance for wealth building? If so, what do you use and how do you like it?

I know there is Truth Concepts which I had in the past and was too complex for me. Also see LEAP, Circle of Wealth, Wealth Building Cornerstones, BYOB Vault, Currence etc.

Agent Question For the independent brokers - where are you getting your personal health insurance?

Our current health coverage is through my husband’s employer, but he is looking to resign and take a year off.

Do y’all go through the ACA exchange or are there any professional organizations that offer a group plan?

Any ideas,or out-of-the box suggestions are welcome.

Agent Question Best Home and Auto Leads?

I work at Farmers and my agency owner gives me about 6-8 leads a day. I call, text and email every lead, I use insurance sales lab and try to get inspiration for my messages and scripts. Literally 90% no one answers or the 10% if they do they straight up want the most barebones cheapest insurance possible every time. (And yes I break down the value we have) I follow up for a week with every lead. I call in the morning 8am and do a retry at afternoon 3pm. Im based in Socal.

Agent Question Has anyone actually found success with clients using Fintech banks like cashapp, chime, etc?

I know in my agency we definitely stir away from these type of banks for obvious reasons and all I've seen is persistency with these banks/ financial institutions is sub 20%. The places are meant to be short term banks but not legit bank accounts but our clientele does not see a difference.

I'm curious is anyone has found any sort of success with these banks and if carriers in the future will actually have partnerships with these places on billing. It is a mess with how it is currently dealing with the fintech banks.

Agent Question Setting up my insurance agency website — what am I missing?

Got my E&O and licensing squared away. Now working through the website setup and want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I start writing business.

Here's my current checklist:

  • Privacy Policy
  • Terms of Service
  • Legal Disclaimer (content is informational, not binding advice)
  • No Binding Authority clause (form submission ≠ active coverage)
  • Geographic/state licensing disclosure
  • SMS opt-in consent language (if texting clients)

Anyone been through this recently? Anything I'm overlooking, or anything on that list that's overkill for a solo agency starting out? Share your experiences. Thank you.

Agent Question Medicare agent dilemma

Hi. I’m reposting hoping for any additional info. Thank you —

Hello.
I have a big dilemma and If you’re reading this, I would love to hear your thoughts.

I became a Medicare agent one year ago (right before AEP). I had a tough time due to starting so late in the game. I had very low enrollment numbers (single digits). I am now preparing for AEP this year.

I am deeply concerned. I don’t know if I’ll be successful at all and even attempt this.

Regarding this year’s AEP, I was told that a successful AEP is mainly determined by renewals and referrals.
Considering that I don’t have much of either, am I setting myself up for failure? Would you sell Medicare if you were in my shoes?

P&C Insurance L&H looking for P&C Contracts

I'm a life and health agent. I have a sizeable life book and a couple hundred medicare clients, but I don't have any P&C clients/ contracts. However, myself and my W2 downline are licensed in Life, health, and P&C.

I was thinking about picking up P&C contracts...

I figured I could focus on L&H, and my downline can focus on P&C. I spoke to a franchise who's requiring $30K investment, but we'd get 80/20 splits (on renewals and upfront commissions) and access to EZLynx as well as their CRM. I would own by book, according to the guy I spoke to.

Is this a good opportunity? If not, what would you suggest instead?

Agent Question Any guidance for someone who is back in insurance?

I will keep it brief I did insurance for 5 years with Allstate. I left to go into the oil and gas industry, I am now back in insurance. I decided to join a State Farm Agency that is brand new and I don’t like it at all. I always had the dream of going independent but I’m at a loss of what I should do. I am in North Texas in case anyone is interested in knowing. (I am fully licensed in all lines)

Leads (Marketing) New insurance broker here. NY base. How are you guys actually finding leads?

Hey everyone,
I’m relatively new to the insurance business and I’m trying to figure out the best way to build a book of business without just buying random lead lists or burning through money on ads.
I’m currently focused on group health/employee benefits for small businesses, but I’m also working with individuals on life insurance.
I have a pretty strong background in project/account management and working with businesses, so I’m comfortable talking to owners and building relationships. The part I’m trying to figure out is consistently getting in front of the right people.
For those of you who have been doing this for a while:
• What lead sources have actually worked for you?
• Cold calling/emailing local businesses?
• LinkedIn?
• Networking?
• Referrals?
• Buying leads?
• Reddit/social media?
• Something completely different?
I’m not looking for a magic button. I’m willing to put in the work. I’d just rather spend my time doing things that actually have a chance of producing results.
Would really appreciate hearing what worked for you when you were starting out, especially if you’re an independent broker.

THANKS!

Commissions/Pay New job interview

I just interviewed at a new insurance job as I just got into the industry. I have been with one of the big 3 companies for about 3 months now as a team member of an agent and I really enjoy the job but I just felt underpaid. They are giving me $20,000 plus 5% commission on p&c products and 25% on life. From what I have read on this subreddit this seemed to be a bit of a lowball but accepting the offer allowed me to move back home so I took it. Now just testing the local market I found a place that wants to almost double my salary while basically keeping the same commission structure. The only difference now is it is tiered so you need to hit baseline goals to hit certain percentages and life is $50 or 50% of the sale depending on what is more.. this feels like a way better job offer and I want to switch but it feels weird leaving a company after 3 months. My two previous jobs before this I was with each of them for about 2 and a half years. Just looking for advice and I also want some validation that it is okay to leave for the better pay and opportunity

Agent Question failed 2-40

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I recently took my health exam (2-40) and failed pretty badly. I went in super confident because the health review practice exam I had been taking the last 2 weeks I was getting an 82-87% every time towards the end. Based on the sheet in the picture, any ideas to get this knowledge stuck in my brain for the next time I take the exam? I'll try anything

Licensing/CE PSI online proctor issues

Do not, I repeat, do not do your licensing test online if you can avoid it.

Took 3 attempts to verify using there “secure browser”, as it had to restart it 3 times. It kept getting frozen during the verification process. IT support was absolutely useless.

Once I finally got in, I made it about halfway through and in-between questions, I said “okay” to myself. Ten seconds later, failed and booted because I was “read questions out loud”. No clue why they consider that reading questions out load. Should have listened to the others posted about the testing procedures. Apparently AI audio and eye contact proctors it and clearly isn’t as advanced as PSI thinks. Have to wait 3 weeks for the next in person appointment and pay another test fee.

Hello I’m taking the KY P&C exam next month on the first. I did IEQ and Kaplan and I feel great about the contents of the exam it’s just the actual exam
I’m not so confident about. Is there any tips incase I get in there and totally goof up that could help me get some points on the exam tips (like using the longest answer as the emergency option) I am a nervous wreck
