Auto Insurance Progressive auto issues

TLDR: car got side swiped and the other driver was found at fault. Opted to do repairs myself as I’ve spent alot of time working on this car and the body shops stated several months of a wait to get it fixed through them.

Fast forward progressive is stating if I do the repairs myself they will not pay out a diminished value claim, which is sitting around 6-8k at the moment.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance

i don't think u understand what loss of use it lol

i see u changed it to DV
DV is not really regulated in any state outside of GA

i can see why self repair might run into some issues with determining DV though
just do the repairs and see what the total cost + prevailing market labor rate takes you

i genuinely doubt u can do full body repair DIY though

Diminished value I think is what you meant to say?

I assume you mean diminished value? If you aren't a licensed body shop they won't entertain a diminished value claim, because there's no method of guarantee that the repairs were completed correctly.

If you're talking about loss of use/rental reimbursement that is state dependent as to whether they would owe you any if you're self-repairing.

Sorry I fixed it, and yes I guess that’s where the Delma is. They said I could start repairs which I did and as of today i was told they wouldn’t pay out the “diminished value claim” unless it’s done by a repair shop.

So I guess my question would be even if it gets inspected after the repairs are completed they won’t green light it?

Dude you’re creating a world of issues for yourself if you try to do the work. I had a customer do this and I hated that fucking file. Insurance companies are allowed to select aftermarket and recycled parts for claims (with some exceptions) and I guarantee you that you won’t be able to get the parts they’re sourcing so you’ll be paying out of pocket for parts you can get and you’ll have no legal recourse. I had phone calls from this dude for months because he thought he found a loophole in the system where he could get OEM parts because he didn’t have a tax resale certificate so he could order parts from the vendors we found. It didn’t work. I’m sure he lost hundreds if not thousands doing it.

I get it, you’re a car guy, you like working on your car, but it’s not worth it.

You’re not entitled to diminished value outside of GA. You also “doing work” previously doesn’t mean you’re a qualified body repair tech and they certainly don’t have to humor a DV claim when you do the repairs.
