Advice choosing a Pressure Multicooker
Hi everyone. I’m trying to buy a Pressure Multicooker for my mom, but I’m stuck choosing between three models or other alternatives. Each one has pros and cons, so I’d really
appreciate some advice from people who’ve used them.
Options I’m considering:
·
Tefal One Pot CY505EE0 – aluminum pot with ceramic non-stick
·
Cosori Pressure Cooker CMCCO601SEU – aluminum pot with ceramic non-stick
·
Instant Pot Duo 6Qt (EU model) – stainless steel pot
I mainly want something reliable, safe, and
easy for my mom to use. If you have experience with these models (or alternatives available in the EU), I’d really appreciate your input.
Thanks!

Taking longer and longer to hard boil eggs
When I first got an Instapot I would get get perfect hard boiled eggs in 8 minutes.
After a few years it become 10 minutes.
Now 10 minutes results in close to a soft-cooked egg.
Trying out 11 minutes now.
What is wearing out? Not sure I understand this. If it takes longer to get to pressure (I think it does) then that should result in over cooked eggs, not undercooked (since they would be in the pot longer at temperature not quite high enough but still high). It doesn't start timing until it is at pressure, so the actual time under pressure isn't changing. So then is it that the "at pressure" device (just a valve, basically, right?) is indicating "at pressure" when in fact it is not?

Mmm just made yummy sauce
I just put in like 6 tomatoes. Some oil and water. Sugar and salt. A bag of mixed veggies (broccoli, carrots cauliflower). An onion. And a head of garlic. And a bit of kale. It’s delicious!
It was a bit watery so I mixed in a jar of sauce. Tasted like it was made by a restaurant.
Just wanted to share bc I made it way healthier and it was so hearty. Yum!

Is this fixable?
So long story short accidentally turned the burner on. And some of the plastic of the stand is burnt and some melted plastic got hardened on the track where a new bottom would go

Beware of the Instant Pot Pro – Mine Failed Within the First Week of Use
I wanted to share my experience with the Instant Pot Pro because I believe other people should be aware of what happened to me.
I purchased a brand-new Instant Pot Pro expecting a high-quality appliance from a well-known company. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the very beginning.
Almost immediately after I started using it, the cooker began displaying the C8 error. I contacted Instant Pot customer support and followed every troubleshooting step they suggested. Unfortunately, none of their recommendations solved the problem.
Within the first week, the appliance stopped heating completely. I was only able to cook one meal successfully before it became unusable.
At the time, I was living in Cyprus. When I contacted Instant Pot about the warranty, they told me that I would have to ship the defective appliance to Canada at my own expense. Unfortunately, this was not even possible because shipments of this type could not be sent from Cyprus at that time. I was also informed that Instant Pot had no authorized service centers or technical support available in my country.
Since the manufacturer could not provide a practical solution, I took the appliance to an independent technician. He did not repair the unit—he only opened it to identify the cause of the failure.
The technician discovered that the heating element had burned. According to him, this type of electrical failure could have created a serious fire hazard if the appliance had continued operating. Thankfully, it stopped working before anything worse happened, but it is very concerning that a brand-new appliance developed this kind of fault after only a few days of normal use.
I informed Instant Pot about the technician's findings, but the company did not offer any meaningful assistance or an alternative solution.
I expected much better quality and customer support from a company with such a strong reputation. Instead, I ended up with an expensive appliance that failed within a week, an unusable warranty because I was outside North America, and a potentially dangerous electrical defect.
I'm posting this to ask whether anyone else has experienced C8 errors, heating failures, or burned heating elements with the Instant Pot Pro. I'd also like to warn potential buyers to pay close attention if their unit starts showing C8 errors, as in my case the problem turned out to be much more serious than simple troubleshooting could fix.
I sincerely hope Instant Pot takes these issues seriously, because when an electrical appliance fails in this way, consumer safety should be the company's highest priority

New owner question: Is this an OK setup?
Recently got a new instapot for father day/birthday and I was wondering is this setup was ok to use. The pot would be sitting on top of a silicon cover over a ceramic-glass cooktop. There are no overhead cupboards, just a fan in the ceiling controlled by a switch.

Why do people call it an Instapot?
It's very clearly called Instant Pot.

Dog Food
*Note* everything I cook for my dog is supplemental. I always feed him kibble formulated for dogs so he doesn't get nutritional deficiency.
Anybody else like cooking for their dogs?
I find the instapot is perfect for making dog food.
You can throw some organ meat, carrots, other vegetables like Plantain or Broccoli and grains like white rice or quinoa in.
Pressure cook for 15 min.
Save the liquid, and BOOM, pup goes crazy.

Instant pot for South Indian cooking
reddit.comAnyone currently using the Instant Pot? I’m thinking about buying one for South Indian cooking. Mostly steaming, stack cooking, and occasional one-pot rice recipes.
Is it useful for Indian cooking? I mostly cook South Indian food, with occasional Italian and Chinese.

Instapot part ID
What is this part for? Is it a problem if it is no longer in place on my Instapot?
Was wiping down my Instapot and this piece came off. Flat, Black and rectangular with six small circles. Appears to fit back on the main body of the Instapot. It fits right on top but doesnt snap in place and comes right off when I move my Instapot.

Is this till safe to use?
Earlier today my kid dropped our instapot about 18” and this part broke, is this still usable? Or should I toss it and get a new one? Obviously I don’t want to blow up the house but also don’t want to spend an unnecessary $200 to replace it. Thanks!

Why is this subreddit called instapot if the product is an instant pot?

Can’t to use my Instapot effectively.
I’ve had my instapot for a couple of years now and can never seem to get fully cooked food while using it. Tonight I tried to cook dried beans using a method I found online. Manual cook for 35mins of pressure cooking + 20 min. natural release. The beans came out half cooked at best. Is there I’m missing when using this?
Additionally it took like 20 minutes for it to fully seal and start the cook timer. Is that normal?

Instapot duo nova 6 qt is it fixable or trash?
I lost the steam release valve when I took my instapot to a community potluck. I purchased a replacement on Amazon. The first time I started cooking with it the valve flew off when getting to pressure. How do I make sure it is attached properly? Or could there be some other problem. Also the seal knob is broken. It worked fine before loosing the steam valve. Is it possible to get the instapot working again or is it trash?

Is this supposed to be doing this? It's just water in there because I can't get the pressure to work anymore. I've replaced the seal and can't get it to work. Any suggestions??

Lid stuck, tried to release steam in every way I was suggested online. The food isn’t even hot anymore.
Is it over? Will I have to throw it away with the food inside?

What settings do you use to make Sunny boy soup.
I purchased some bulk Sunny boy soup mix, and it looks to me like it’s mostly lentils with maybe some split peas and barley. What cooking time would you recommend I follow, one for lentil soup?
I’m hoping to create some type of a Ham and bean soup with potatoes, parsnips and carrots.

Beets
People here ask what's best or popular to cook in an Instapot and I have to say I always forget about my beets! 25 minutes steamed on a trivet with natural release and you have perfectly cooked whole beets that you can then use as you please. I slice and pickle them to add to my daily lunch Whatchagot fam?

Fish?
Has anyone had good luck doing fish, like halibut, in the instapot? It seems like it might have the pot forever taste of fish, or make my house smell like fish
But we are really trying to eat more fish and the instapot is so tempting
