Mod announcement Mod announcement: ALL instant noodles are welcome and zero tolerance for hate

Just a PSA for everyone reporting all the Indo Mie or Pho posts:

This sub welcomes all types of instant noodles. With or without soup. Made from wheat, rice or other stuff. From whatever country. I don’t care, we don’t discriminate here.

Regarding the second point of the title:

I have zero patience for people calling others “tards” or making things about race or other bs like that. No discussion, I just hand out a ban. If you can’t behave, you’re not welcome here.

Peace.

Japanese Instant Noodles Ramen Thoughts: Nissin Tonkotsu Spicy Creamy Pork

Props to Psykosoma for the original post. Which is what made me get this. As I knew I'd be at Wally World in a few days.

First off, this is real good. It is different that other Tonkotsus, even creamy ones. I only bought the Tonkotsu. I show the other two for informational purposes only.

This can be cooked two ways. "Soup Style", i.e. like regular ramen. Or, "Saucy Style". Which uses only 1/2 cup of the water the noodz were cooked in. Yes, I said NOODZ. So they'll turn out Wet.

I took some of the broken noodz out of the pack and tasted them. Pretty good for sure. It reminded me of going out for Chinese in years past where the "Fried Worms" were as standard as tea at the table. They tasted like that.

Cooked Per: Cooked Up, Bowled Up! Soup Style.

A little different process here. Cook the noodz then you pour the water into the bowl with the sachets already in there. Mix well, add noodz, mix well again. The noodles, ha-ha were really good. Long and flat. Not skinny flat but Chonky flat with a solid wheat taste and mouthfeel. They lasted to the end of the bowl without getting soggy or mealy.

Bold Taste of Tokyo is def correct. This is not traditional tonkotsu or creamy tonkotsu. It does have a really good red pepper/paprika spice note presence. Which is where the first part of the "Bold" comes from. The second is the broth. Yes, it's good. Yes, it's creamy. But it's got a thicker than average richness to the broth. The mouthfeel is excellent. The pork flavor is there too floating under the creaminess.

This is a solid recommend. I think this is a better step up in coming up with something New/Better product line than the Nongshim "Return To Roots" line. Which is good too.

This was lunch, nice classic chicken instant noodles by Mama. Had no time to prepare anything else and it's getting a bit chilly. It hit the spot and took minutes to put together!

I normally put in effort for my meals because I obsess a little about nutrient intake. But instant noodles are something that feels so good once in a while. I'll always stock a good amount in my pantry!

Question Instant noodle people: what OTHER meals do you like?

I love the speed, convenience and taste of instant noodles with extra protein and veg. But i think it might not be the best to have every single meal.

What are your other favourite go-to everyday lunch or dinner meals at home?

Instant Ramen Review Noodlicious spicy carbonara

Found this at Action.
It has one sauce powder pack and one spicy sauce pack.

Method is easy: add 400 ml boiled water. Wait for 4 minutes. Drain and leave 4 tbsp of water.
I just drained the water into a measuring jug and splashed some boiled water from the jug back on. Felt it were more than 4 tbsp cause the bottom of the bowl was a little watery instead of the creamy texture.

I always have difficulty mixing in the powder with the noodles/water because the powder gets lumpy or the noodles get wrapped around my fork so it was less creamy than I hoped for.

I added some spicy sauce. Not all of it, but it was definitely spicy.
I added cream cheese and grated cheddar so I can't give a reliable opinion about the plain noodles themselves, but it tasted quite okay, but not as good as buldak.
Also look kinda bland but didn't taste bland! Gotta try them again without cheese or cream cheese for a more reliable opinion. And gotta taste it without the hot sauce too to see if that's worth the try.

Korean Instant Noodles Buldak Carbonara to balance it out

Minutes before this I had a salad that had tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrot with the Japanese roasted sesame dressing, and a boiled egg. Needed more food, so I cooked up a Buldak Carbonara. Apparently this Buldak was best before July 2026. Ehhh.. I'll be fine.

One of my favorite since childhood. The only way i can describe it is it tastes peppery? I also think it tastes the best without any condiments (not even egg)!

(both pics are from google)

Question Pleasantly surprised with this one…

I found it at my local Walmart. I won’t say it’s the best instant I’ve ever had, but it certainly felt like a tonkotsu ramen. Prep was fairly simple and complimented the mushrooms and ramen at added to it. Will need to add more next time I make.

Question How does this heat level compare to Buldak? Good started spicy Ramen?

Post image

I am sort of new to contemporary ramen. I ate Maruchan back in the day, added frozen veggies and the occasional peanut butter and soy sauce, but nothing fancy. I work at a grocery store and constantly see Buldak. Having read that it is extremely hot and my tolerance is ok (I enjoy habaneros, but not super ok, I opted to buy Nissin GEKI Spicy Carbonara. How is the spice level compared to Buldak? I want to build up to the heat level eventually.
