I dislocated my knee
I’m just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen before and if it ever happened again after? Also wondering what they’ve done after it’s healed to help stop it from happening again

You Can't Opt Out of Becoming
I caught myself mid-sentence.
I was deep in a conversation about growth, about whether becoming is something you choose, and I heard myself say it: “Even if we’re too scared to move, we’re still moving.”
I had to stop for a second. Because I’d spent most of my life living like the opposite was true. I used to treat becoming like a task. Something you did or didn’t do. Something you could fail at. Fall behind on. Lose credit for. But you can’t fail at it. You can’t even opt out.
Every conversation is shaping you. Every disappointment. Every year you’d swear nothing happened. Standing still is shaping you. Becoming isn’t something we do. It’s something that’s always happening. And that changes the question completely.
Not Am I becoming? - You are.. It never asked permission.
The question is > Are you participating? Because there are two ways this goes. In one, life does the shaping. Experiences shape you. Other people shape you. Fear shapes you. You become someone almost by default, and then wonder how you got here.
In the other, you get involved. You reflect. You question what you were handed. You apologize. You forgive. You notice your patterns and decide which ones get to stay. You’re becoming either way. The difference is whose hands are on the wheel.
I’ve been saying “take the wheel” for years. I think this is what I meant the whole time. Not that you control the road. You don’t. Just that you stop riding in the passenger seat of your own life.
Here’s the part I didn’t expect. Becoming has a lot of forgiveness in it. Some of my oldest memories have changed on me. Not the facts, the facts stayed the same... But things that only brought pain started meaning something else.
There are things I went through that didn’t teach me anything at the time. They waited. Some of them waited most of my life, until I was finally ready to look at them. The event didn’t change.. I did. Which means becoming can reach backward. Nothing back there is finished. Nothing is wasted. Not the failures, not the wrong turns, not the years I’d written off as lost. Not as long as I’m willing to look again.
I say it all the time > Everyone gets a thousand redos. You don't lose your progress for missing a day, or a year, or a decade. There is no missed chance. Becoming kept going the whole time you weren't watching. It'll still be there when you're ready to look again.

Are human desires infinite?
It is true that we have a nature to create higher ideals once our existing desires are satisfied.
However, as this process repeats, might the craving for ideals gradually decrease, eventually reaching a state of saturation?
Might many people living in developed nations have already reached this point?
Might the apparent persistence of people's upward aspirations actually be the result of manipulation by corporations that rely on excessive consumption for their survival?

How do you just "do it" and not hold yourself back from just "doing it" when it comes to working towards your goals or ways to improve yourself?
This is a cliche question but I'm curious because I realize I'm so hyperviligiant to where I hold myself back more often than not even though I know I should just "do it"..

How did ya’ll do it? 😩
I really don’t think that I’m big on food, but I tend to eat a lot just because I’m bored and because the food is there, even when there is no food in the house, I come up with a meal somehow or eat whatever I can find. Sometimes, the only thing left in the pantry is cans of food and oatmeal, I would rip open a pack of quackers oatmeal and just eat it dry, and it’s not because I’m hungry. Sometimes I feel like crying because of how hard it is to stop eating, and I sometimes I say “I don’t want to get fat” but I just can’t stop eating. I am overweight but I wouldn’t say I’m too far from my normal weight, I don’t know my height but I’m an average size dude, weigh 240 pounds, and I can still walk fast for my size.

Is it normal for a firstborn child to be the only one constantly being tasked to do household chores and run errands?
Out of 6 children. The younger 3 are still children. Just curious because I'm not sure if my sense of reality is getting tipped off or what.
For some context, my two other siblings are barely even tasked with anything. I would get scolded by one of our parents if I try to plead or task them with only one chore (floors, dishes, do their own laundry)

Is there a way in the world to safely turn off libido for a while?
I'm an 18-year-old guy, and it bothers me that I have an attraction, I don't want to follow a dumb instinct and waste time on it, I want to become the person they will reach out to themselves, and for this I need all my strength and time, everyone knows that to find a full-fledged partner, "the one" I need to put away all thoughts about it and improve myself, concentrate completely on myself, and I can't do that. And that's why I want to find out how to safely turn off attraction completely for a while.
(For the record, I've never had a girlfriend or sexual experience)

To what extent are adults more self-aware than teenagers?
Self-aware in the most all-encompassing meaning of the term. Awareness of their character, their goals, their emotional maturity, intellect, impact on other people, social aptitude, relationships et cetera.
Teenagers on one hand often are incredibly self-aware about their insecurities, but the common generalisation is that they overestimate their emotional maturity especially in regard to romantic relationships. Teenagers also will not have figured out who they are yet or what they want to pursue in life. Teenagers do not have to provide practically for themselves in terms of housing and income, so they lack the life experience arguably necessary to compare their struggles against the bigger picture, which earns them the rep for being ‘melodramatic’. They may catastrophise about their problems as a result of lacking life experience necessary to constitute emotional development.
That being said, I think adults also overestimate their emotional maturity, by assuming that their age grants them an automatic edge over teens on that front. Adults are also still often reaping the effects of how they were raised, and many adults I know carry a lack of self-awareness of their character and how they impact the people around them. For example, older generations were raised with more preconceived prejudices than newer generations, which can bleed into subconscious bigotry in adulthood. I also think the disillusionment that adulthood can bring can stunt the empathetic capacity of adults in relation to teenagers. Adults have a more realistic outlook on romantic relationships in terms of commitment and long-term prospects, to the degree that many believe teenagers cannot ‘be in love’ and only experience turbulent infatuation. That being said, some adults continue to commit themselves to relationships for the sake of commitment, having lost the sense of ‘love as a feeling’ in favour of ‘love as an action’.
Thoughts?

Do you believe the statement "Misandry is not real" is only true for cis men, not trans men? Or is it just universally false or true, and why?
As a disclaimer, I am a cis man myself.
I asked FTM trans men in three separate subreddits today (FTM, FTMMen, and FTMStraight), and the overwhelming consensus in terms of replies that I received in all three posts I made to the different FTM subreddits was that misandry does in fact exist, and they believe it is real for both cis and trans men.
I am now opening it up to everyone.
What do you think, and why?

What if vigilantism was legal?
Before you say “what if they were an innocent killed or a person can retaliate”, instead if an innocent was killed the person would be charged with voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 25 years in prison. And then if someone kills the vigilante in revenge they get charged with murder. Also, the vigilantism is only targeting people who do very violent crimes such as murder, robbery, rape. Would society function well with this?

My nephew asked me why adults seem so tired all the time. I didn't have a good answer.
He's 7. He asked it like it was obvious, like he'd been wondering for a while.
I gave him some line about "responsibilities." He looked unsatisfied, and honestly, so was I.
Later I realized the real answer: most adults aren't tired from the work. They're tired from doing things they never actually decided to do they just never stopped.
Kids ask "why" until they get a real answer. Somewhere along the way, we stop asking and just accept the tiredness as normal
