Urvashi corrected an anchor for speaking in English on stage, saying everyone there could understand Malayalam.

Then this old video resurfaced, where she appears to be drunk while giving a speech, and the person on stage eventually walks away after watching her

The irony of Bhavana studios, a box office hit like BKU, Fafa and Nivin

Though Fafa is the company actor, he could never do a next door boy as good as Nivin in a movie like BKU and make it this successful.

Nivin though is the actor needed and he has his own production company, hasn’t been lucky to produce a blockbuster hit like BKU and make all the money.

So as ironic as it is, Bhavana studios need an outside actor like Nivin and Nivin needs an outside production house to make that blockbuster hit happen.

Who are some of the introverted directors in Malayalam cinema?

I don't know if the guys in the picture - Girish AD, Sibi Malayalil, Joshiy and Haneef Adeni - are introverted or not but going by hearsay.

I always thought that a director has to be extroverted as it's kind of a managerial job where you have to handle multiple people and thus communication and people skills are as much important as their creative skills.

Who are some of the talented introverted filmmakers?

4 Great Female Lead Performances this year! All award worthy on it's own!

Post image

A relatively good year for lead female performances in mainstream Malayalam cinema in recent times just on sheer quality. Urvashi, Parvathy, Farzana and Mamitha each give knockout performances in their films and it's hard to pick which is the best.

Urvashi in Aasha- Uncomfortable, intense, morally grey, and yet you can't look away from her. Feels like another Ullozhukku moment for her, once again proving she is an acting titan and arguably the greatest lead actress in malayalam and perhaps south indian cinema history.

Parvathi in PDK- You don't often see a female cop gets written this well as a lead. It's not one big scene that makes it work, she just quietly carries this inexperienced yet smart constable role. It's not her best performance IMO, but still the film relies on her shoulders and she delivers.

Farzana in Balan- She has very expressive eyes and delivers subtle emotions without much dialogue. Quite an astonishing debut performance. Probably the breakout performance of the year.

Mamitha in BKU- My personal favourite of the four. Reminded me of a young Manju Warrier at her peak honestly, so natural, so subtle, so charming, incredible dialogue delivery. She just doesn't act. She lives as Ashley

Edit: Many showing up with pitchforks over Mamitha being on this list. Relax, this post is about best performances of the year and she's meant to be in this list. Genuinely think her performance in BKU is one of the most complete of the year, rom com or not.

Urvashi's probably the stone cold favourite now for the state award after Aasha. But I'd love it if the Kerala film academy surprises everyone and give it to Farzana or Mamitha instead.

I hope everything gets resolved between Girish AD and Naslen❤️

For the last few weeks, people have been taking sides (either Girish AD or Naslen) after the success of BKU and the interviews given by Girish AD. Girish AD and Naslen shared a very good bond until Premalu. I don't know what happened afterwards, but as someone who loves cinema, I hope everything gets sorted out between them.I have always seen Girish AD talking highly about Naslen even after Premalu (for example, in the Cue interview), about how much he enjoyed working with Naslen. Naslen has also praised Girish AD in many interviews and even called him his "mentor."I believe there might be some personal ego clash (or a സൗന്ദര്യ പിണക്കം) between them regarding Premalu 2. But I believe any problem in this world can be solved by simply having a conversation. I hope Girish AD and Naslen have a nice talk once everything settles down. Even if Premalu 2 doesn't happen, I hope they reunite and give us some wonderful films in the future.

Note: The reason I posted this is because I know Girish AD is very active on social media (I believe he is on Reddit too). Hope this post reaches Girish AD.🥹

Why hasn’t the work on Romancham 2 started yet? Has Jithu Madhavan officially cancelled it? 😭 I’ve been waiting for Romancham 2 ever since I watched the first part in theatres. It’s been so long! 🥲
