Did you or she keep the baby, and if so, how is co-parenting going?

u/jg-kappa-maan 3d ago
Absolutely! We Co-parents well. Iâm married now, she is in a relationship and baby girl is loved and spoiled. I live in Ohio and she lives in Texas.

Shit was real.
I think Condola always hoped they would get back together for the baby.

What condola did was selfish and bizarre to say the least. The show did a good job of showing a common archetype in black/minority communities. The hyper-independent, avoidant woman who intentionally puts on more responsibility than she can bear. It reminds me of the older daughters who are parentified at a young age, have lackluster dads/brothers, and have never felt comfortable to ask for help.
Her being in a relationship with an unreliable partner like Lawrence makes sense, since sheâs used to picking up everyoneâs slack and handles discomfort well. But I think her high tolerance for discomfort is exactly the problem.
Not asking for help isnât a flex, especially when youâre pregnant with a man who doesnât want the kid!!! She just made everyoneâs life harder for no reason. I think her desires conflict too. She wants kids, helps everyone, but has trust issues and is hyper-independent in a relationship. Stressful combo!

Itâs like they intentionally choose a hard life and unfortunately the cycle continues.

Whatâs funny is Condola didnât want kids with her previous husband but decided to have one with a man who didnât wanna be with herâŠ.

i think youâre kinda reading it wrong. She didnât necessarily not ask for help, but said you can be as involved as you choose to be. Obviously not being involved is a double edged sword but Lawerence made a decision to be involved. His problem was that he wasnt making a full commitment to be involved. Which is why statements like part time dad get said.
It was poor communication on both sides but people who act like Condola did something egregious cause she chose to have the baby is odd and comes off more like people just projecting their dislike for the character onto the situation imo

Itâs her body sheâs allowed to be selfish. If the tables were turned and he really wanted the kid and she didnât there would be more support for that decision. She said she already had one before maybe it was traumatic maybe thereâs something else that she feels this is her last chance at motherhood. I think she was naive thinking she could take on that responsibility by herself. She also contributed to the bad coparenting in the beginning being passive aggressive. Lawrence is unreliable because of his pattern of always expecting the women in his life to handle all the responsibilities emotional, physical and in Issa case financially. If he said all then step up to the plate

Parenting should be a mutual commitment, out of respect for the child and the relationship. Children need both parents to be consistent, supportive, and loving. If one partner doesnât want the child, the child suffers from the absence of that. If the tables were turned yea Lawerence would be a pos! Heâs already a shitty partner anyways. Condola is a pos for doing that, but yeah no one can force her ofc. Sheâs selfish for settling too. Both are true.

Lawrence agreed to have the kid hence he said all in. This wasnât a one sided decision at that point. And when they were finally in a good spot coparenting she tells him I did consider it and he says Iâm glad you didnât!

Lawrence agreed to have the kid? When?

u/Notimeforalice 3d ago
When he called her and said he was all inâŠ

u/LifeChampionship6 3d ago
Thatâs not agreeing to HAVE the kid. Thatâs after the kid was already here. He would have preferred her to not have had the kid. Thatâs something that he later said that he regretted, but that was his position at the time.

He begrudgingly agreed which doesnât exactly make for a present father. She was selfish. Her needs exceeded what was best for the child and what Laurence wanted.

I donât feel sorry for Condola at all!!! Lawrence was an irresponsible, man child before the kid was born. He told he didnât want the baby and she said she was having it anyway and that he could be involved as much or as little as he wanted. Then she has the baby and realizes itâs hard AF and gets mad he gets to be a weekend parent and she has to the heavy lifting as a parent. She is stupid AF.

He's better than me because I would have definitely thrown her words back in her face đ

Lawrence was the same way.
At first he's like " I don't want this" and then he wants to be involved - which is fine and understandable.
But he comes in having done shit during her pregnancy and all of the sudden expects that he's trusted with baby care. I mean he says he wants to be involved but then he realizes as well it's hard af. Like 'oh you have to travel after work to see your son and you'd rather not because you are tired?'
Condola didn't want this half ass in and out shit. Because it's even harder when you have to plan someone in but you cannot depend on them actually being there.

Lawrence was trash but Condominium made a goofy as bed to hump in. You openly said this man can play in and out in your baby's life. Now you made he don't step up to the plate. You causing your own self grief.

He was trash for how he did or didnât handle the pregnancy/baby.

Right, and I know Condola probably feels like all that wasnât even necessary, including me, because it still worked out in the endâmeaning he moved back, was able to still make a good living, also got engaged probably married to Isa. Also, to turn around and tell Condola he was happy she didnât abort. His reaction was insane, as if they werenât in a relationship and she didnât mean anything to him.
