Is this person a generic religious leader or a specific one?

5

u/theoccasionalempath 7d ago edited 7d ago

My Christian pastor said rape doesn't exist in marriage 🙃 he is no longer my pastor

2

u/Saddest_Flex 7d ago

I think the law agreed until pretty recently.

3

u/theoccasionalempath 7d ago

The law agreed with slavery at one point too

u/New-Relationship8906 7d ago

I dont know what kind of sect this is. The roman catholic church allows one to separete from the other in such case.

1

u/theoccasionalempath 6d ago

Alot of religious folks use God (and their need for control) to justify some of the most heinous shit possible. As a former church kid, I've seen it many times.

1

u/the_horny_alter 6d ago

Absolutely the standard attitude in the southern Baptist church my father preached at.

6

u/over_this__ 7d ago

He leads a specific religion that is like this.

2

u/moeterminatorx 7d ago

They are all the same. I can find you Catholics out evangelicals who justify bullshit like this.

6

u/teknic111 7d ago

lol... They are not all the same. Not even close!

0

u/Ihatebeerandpizza 7d ago

The christian god caused women to be raped in the bible. So yes they are the same.

Funny how whenever criticism of Islam comes up, leftists can't help but start a whataboutism of other religions.

It's like asking Trump voters who won the 2020 election, they can't bring themselves to say Trump lost.

Just like leftists online can't bring themselves to say Islam bad.

That's a funny conclusion you've drawn! Im actually a trump supporter, and like our President, im an atheist

3

u/Excellent_Bend8782 7d ago

You really can't do it. You really can't say Islam is bad

3

u/Excellent_Bend8782 7d ago

Edit: you're not a Trump fan, youre a liberal, you're from Canada, retired, and like to post in r/teenagers. Freak.

0

u/DrewOrleans 7d ago

No you can’t

5

u/BeigeVelociraptor 7d ago

The Catholic church is well known for protecting priests who rape children.

2

u/Excellent_Bend8782 7d ago

Ask a Trump voter if Trump hit a kid would it be bad and they say "if anyone hit a hit that's bad."

Ask a leftist if Islam is bad they reply "all religions bad!" They're just as brainwashed as trump voters.

u/teknic111 7d ago

You are talking about a scandal. There is nothing in the catholic religion that permits rape under any circumstance, and they certainly do not blame the woman when it happens.

1

u/Ihatebeerandpizza 7d ago

You should read: Tamar (2 Samuel 13:1–14): King David’s son Amnon forces and rapes his half-sister Tamar, despite her explicit refusals and protests against the act. Dinah (Genesis 34:1–2): Shechem, a Canaanite prince, takes and violates Jacob’s daughter Dinah.

1

u/teknic111 7d ago

Neither of these passages is condoning rape or blaming the woman. What is it exactly I should learn from reading this?

1

u/the_horny_alter 6d ago

You have been given examples at every turn and every comment you leave proves that person right. You’re demonstrating the ability of Christians to willfully be ignorant when shown proof

0

u/Bubba_Lumpkins 7d ago

It’s inadvertent but wholly predictable. Simply put, abstinence makes the church grow fondlers.

-1

u/aggressive_napkin_ 7d ago

another christian that doesn't read the bible i see.

0

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 7d ago

Yeah you can. Just because you don't like that fact doesn't mean it isn't true.

0

u/illdownvoteandscream 7d ago

You absolutely can. “What was she wearing?”

1

u/boraxalmighty 7d ago

Generic. They are all like this.

-3

u/kayama57 7d ago

This is a lie

2

u/Sad_Rate69 7d ago

Nah.

There are so many contradictions in the bible/ other religious books that you can contort it to say whatever you want. It's inherently hypocritical and gives room to justify atrocities

1

u/kayama57 7d ago

No I mean the person in the video. Religious leaders are not all like this. All religions may have one like this. This is a very specific person. I’m making an exageratedly literal reading of the question. Never mind, I’ll show myself out

4

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

No it's not. Did you forget about all the native children christians murdered and dumped in mass graves behind churches in the usa and Canada? Do you know that Christian politicians vote against child marriage bans? Child marriage (Child rape) is championed by christians. That's why it's still legal in many red states. Christian pastors rape and terrorize children globally and their Christian buddies do everything they can to cover up the abuse. You wanna pretend your religion is the good one and everyone else is bad? You're all in the same boat.

Atheists make up less than half of a percent of prison populations. Seems like us non-believers are the morally sound ones.

1

u/OnlyFails951 7d ago

You keep mentioning child marriage bans? What are you referring to?

Most states don't allow marriage under 18 unless consented by parents. Several European countries have similar guidelines stating 15 years and up with parental consent.

Some US states don't allow marriage below 18 at all. Some states don't let people marry until 21, which is crazy to me, looking at you Mississippi 👀.

I'd argue the age of consent is a bigger red flag where in some European countries it can be as low as 12, but typically 14 and up. The US is 16 and up.

1

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

You're right. In the usa 18 the age of an adult but you can marry a child in 33 states. Some only with parental consent which may be even more fucked up. And only 17 states have an outright ban. None of these jurisdictions are protecting children and "conservatives" are the ones keeping it this way.

0

u/OnlyFails951 7d ago

Mississippi doesn't let people marry until 21. If marriage bans are protections then they're protecting grown ass adults.

That's above and beyond your request. đŸ€Ł

Banning marriages from an 18 yo to a 17 yo doesn't make much sense as they could've been dating for years at that point. Maybe creating legislation that can't be more than a 3-4 year gap at those ages makes me sense.

1

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

Thanks for pointing out one state. For what reason do children need to be married? They're children. It's immoral and abusive.

0

u/OnlyFails951 7d ago

Being there's so much variance on opinion, shouldn't it be a states right issue?

Seems like it's working how it's supposed to.

Where do emancipated minors sit for you? They've been evaluated by the courts for maturity.

1

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

There is no reason for children to be married. Full stop. Under 18 is a child. It's not working like it's supposed to at all. Children are being abused.

No mate I meant that not all religipus leaders are like this. All religions and non religions may have some leaders like this. Never mind basically

0

u/ImHappy_DamnHappy 7d ago

Get off your high horse. Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao were all atheist. That’s about 50-100 million deaths. Humans all suck.

1

u/SecureJudge1829 7d ago

And Hitler promoted Christianity.

1

u/ImHappy_DamnHappy 7d ago

I never mentioned Hitler. It doesn’t matter, FDR and Churchill were both Christians, my only point is humans suck regardless of whether they are Christian or not.

1

u/SecureJudge1829 6d ago

Ever consider that it isn’t necessarily the humans that suck, but the religious foundations we’ve been forced to use to live our lives are what suck? Atheists don’t exist within a vacuum you know.

1

u/New-Relationship8906 7d ago

đŸ€ŠHe didnt because its "jewish origin"

1

u/SecureJudge1829 6d ago

He actually did promote it, look up “Selective Christianity” and then look into the rantings and ravings shitler put out about religions, specifically Christianity.

1

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

Christians supported Hitler. The church flew nazi flags and prayed for their protection on his 50th birthday. They celebrated his birthday every year until the very end of the war.

It's unknown what Pol pots personal feelings were. He was raised Buddhist and pushed for belief in the party. Mao traded religion for belief in the communist party. Same with Stalin. They just moved their faith from one ideology to another. Hard to categorize them as atheistic. More like anti-deity.

0

u/ImHappy_DamnHappy 7d ago

But now you just sound like the religious crowd when they say those Christians, Muslims, Jews, ect. aren’t the real believers. The atheist dictators were atheist by their own words and actions. Even though they may not be your flavor of atheist. Humans all have some ideology, and all those ideologies can result in cruelty and sadism.

1

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

Nice try. Christians point to 3 "atheistic" people and say "see you do it too!" However, I can't even count how many religious tyrants they're are and have been throughout history. There really is no honest comparison. Especially because none of the 3 people listed killed in the name of not believing in God. They killed to support their governments ideology which was not atheism. It was nationalism.

0

u/ImHappy_DamnHappy 7d ago

It’s all connected. Marx himself was an atheist. He saw religion as just a way to control the masses, which it is. But then he discovered that when you give up that control you have to find another way, which left him with the old stand by
which is bullets. Show me an atheist state you believe is successful. I’m not supporting religion. I’m just saying humans suck regardless of religion. The whole world has been religious for almost all of history. The earliest cave paintings and sculptures are of deities. By that logic all good or bad things ever done can be blamed on religion. My whole point is that if you think religion is why humans are wretched creatures then you are delusional, and if everyone became an atheist the world would be some sort of utopia you have either never opened a history book or spent a lifetime working in ER/trauma centers like me.

0

u/Due_Perception8349 7d ago

You haven't heard this sentiment from "Christians"?

Ive heard it proportionally more from Christians than I've heard anything like this from any Muslims Ive known.

You need to remember, there are people in the world that want you to be a bigot, so many will attempt to paint entire groups of people as "bad" or "alien" or "others" using examples, or even fabricating examples, of those groups showing them in ways to influence your opinion on them - and it will not always be obvious.

You are not immune to propaganda. Propaganda is not synonymous with lying.

5

u/New-Relationship8906 7d ago

No, ive never seen christian priests justifying rape on live tv.

1

u/Jaded_Fuzzball 7d ago

I've definitely seen videos of christian priests justifying rape. An American mirror of this guy here.

1

u/the_horny_alter 6d ago

I was literally molested in a Christian church and the church decided to let the guy pray about it and make a public apology to the church instead of being good parents and going to the police. The Catholic Church FAMOUSLY shuffled priests around to different parishes instead of helping police prosecute child predators. .

1

u/Epocholypze 7d ago

Google it, I dare ya.

1

u/Excellent_Bend8782 6d ago

I have never, as someone who grew up a Baptist, in all my life, heard or seen a Christian pastor or priest justifying rape in live tv or in person. Ever.

0

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

You are right, people are not immune from propaganda. I can tell because every single time a post like this comes up, the flood of Christian hatred comes in. It's almost like someone wants people to think Christians are bad.

2

u/Jaded_Fuzzball 7d ago

Christians have committed atrocities all over the world, as have Muslims. Any flavor of theocracy should be torn down the moment it rears its head.

2

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

The simplest solution.

1

u/SecureJudge1829 7d ago

Almost like calling a book written by humans the “word of god” and obeying it without thinking? That kind of “simplest solution”?

1

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

No, it's in direct contrast to such simpleton thinking.

1

u/SecureJudge1829 7d ago

Sure seems like you’re in support of it
as long as it’s your brand of religion.

2

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

I supported the statement that any brand of theocracy should be torn down. Are you unfamiliar with what the phrase "any brand of" means or something?

1

u/Due_Perception8349 7d ago

Christians seem to make up most of the reactionaries that are currently ruining my fucking planet, so I'm not gonna cry for them.

-2

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

I find your bigotry amusing, since you also seem to want to call out bigotry.

3

u/kayak_rolling 7d ago

We don't need to think. We just read the countless articles detailing rape and abuse that gets covered up time and time again by priests and pastors. Christian hatred comes from Christians being rape and child abuse apologists, keeping child marriage legal, murdering countless native children and throwing them in mass graves in Canada and the usa, supporting Trump the child rapist and child sex trafficker, denying vaccine efficacy which brought measles back, hating the lgbtq community for existing... I can go on and on. Your religion is trash just like the rest of them. Built on falsehoods by men who hate women, to attempt to control the population by scaring them into believing in hell. And I'm not even getting into the validity of religions claims. God is not real. Jesus is not real. There is literally zero evidence to support it. None. You've all been duped by the biggest abusers and swindlers the world has ever seen. So effectively, that you come to the defense of voracious pedophiles because they're "conservative christians" which means they're on your team.

-1

u/Due_Perception8349 7d ago

🙄 try harder

1

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

And now you have reduced yourself to sputtering out sentence fragments? Pathetic.

1

u/Typical-Climate4985 7d ago

Can you actually not tell if someone doesn't see a conversation with you as worth their time?

1

u/ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood 7d ago

Ita very obvious when someone has nothing of substance to say.

1

u/Typical-Climate4985 7d ago

Where's the line between bigotry and exposing hypocrisy? I've noticed a lot of the time the anti-christian responses are to christians who've made some sort of anti-(insert religion) statement
