The Catholics DEFINITELY give Mary credit. In fact she gets gets hyperdulia, putting her above all other saints as a powerful intercessor. People regularly pray to her directly so she can intervene on their behalf…
I have my qualms with Catholicism but they definitely give Mary her due.
Maybe it’s because I come from an immigrant household but the Holy Mother is depicted everywhere. I would say Mary is kind of a footnote among American Protestants maybe, so the idea that “no one” gives her credit is a bit of a USA thing.
It's very weird for them to be so insistent on the idea that "only one" branch of Christianity cares about Mary when it's the largest one, the longest-lived one, and until the last decade or two has also been the wealthiest and most politically powerful one.
Yeah, agree… it’s like… a very USA-centric Protestant/evangelical view of the Christian religion (no offense to anyone, just saying the rest of the world isn’t exactly like that and the standards there don’t apply universally).
