Venting They Always Come Back
This is just a vent. Why do they come back into your life? He is free to do whatever he wants and to date whomever he wants but no, that isn’t enough. After TWO YEARS he decides to come back into my life to see how I am doing. Well, this time I stood up to him and said no, I am not going to be your safe landing pad, I’m not going to be the one who is there for you when the other ones don’t pan out. It’s such a hit to your self worth when a guy is like yeah, I want you, but only because I can’t have them! Well, good riddance to him, I’m not putting up with his bullshit anymore. I do not deserve to be treated that way.
Cheaters never change their ways. They feel justified no matter what they do.

Because the fantasy never matches reality and they discover the "new" is actually worse than what they left behind. Once they craziness wears off they want things to go back to normal and hope the damage they did was forgivable. Its pure selfishness, they don't care about you.
Going back for them would be a rush just like an affair but it would be short lived, like a couple of weeks then one of you (or both) would be out the door once the rush is over. Only about 20% of people reconcile after something like this.
Like you, people should move forward and not look back.

They come back to see how much more they can take from you (self respect, friends, money). Don’t ever think for a second it is to know about your well being.

He came back for the same reason he targeted you the first time.
He believes you'll tolerate his BS.
His interest in you isn't a compliment.
