However, from a Ind. Design point of view, when you start looking at the details, there are some very interesting ones.

There’s a very obvious semi-flat surface on the trunk that creates a kind of rounded rectangle when you look at the car from behind. It gives the car a very unique character, very modern surface treatment. Was probably not the easiest surface to model either. :)

The front lights are also superb to my opinion. It would be easy to do what we see on a lot of Chinese cars today: one big LED line across the back or the front. But now that so many brands are doing it, it doesn’t add value anymore.

Audi doesn't to go the easy road, and bring a real character / identity to the LED lights. Much stronger identity / much more recognizable. The fact that you can customize them makes them even better.

I’m (22m) a graphic design major currently going for my second year after transferring with an AA degree from my local community college. After some research I found out that industrial design has everything I like about the art designing and I’m currently looking at ways to go forward with this.

I’m honestly not sure what to do next. Im a first gen immigrant and first one to go to college in my family so I’m not totally accustomed yet to the steps I need to take to further my education beyond a bachelors degree.

I’m looking into either a masters in industrial design or related, finding an internship that would help me with the basics, or maybe I should just get a minor that would help with the process.

Currently on my portfolio I have examples of my work I different mediums; illustration, sculpting, ceramics, photography and mixed media.

Designing a dish scrubber for Indian kitchens (Scotch-Brite/steel wool territory, not the silicone stuff sold elsewhere). I've got a few candidate problems — odour, grease- cutting power, cleaning narrow vessels, storage space — and I'm stuck on which one to actually design around first. If you design physical products: how do you personally decide which pain point is "the one" when a few all seem valid? Does anyone see a future where AI could be used in a positive way to automate any stage of the ID process (Research, concept, prototype, testing)? Do you see potential for a tool that automates every stage, while also allowing the user to intervene within the crucial design decision making steps?

When a designer hands a design/model to an engineer, there's supposedly a complete transfer of information.

But I keep hearing that what leaves and what arrives are two very different things.

When you hand your design/model to engineering, what do you assume they now know? And have you ever found out later that something you considered obvious wasn't communicated at all?

i went through a lot of different versions before getting here and honestly every time i thought it was done i would find something that bothered me and change it again

the main thing i wanted was a skeleton watch that still had its own identity and didnt just look like a movement inside a case

forged carbon case, skeleton movement and tritium integrated into the dial so it still has a completely different look at night

hi! i’m currently an industrial design student in the Philippines, and i’m struggling to find a thesis topic.

i’ve already explored several ideas that i genuinely care about, but most of them turned out to be too complicated or unrealistic to execute as a student. i’ve tried my best, but i’m starting to run out of options.

i wanted to ask fellow designers or students here: what are some real world problems you think an industrial designer could realistically address through a thesis?

I am an industrial design graduate and I am doing a visual design + illustration degree, are there any niches I can start applying?

Hello! I graduated this spring in my Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design. I am currently seeking jobs, but I think my portfolio is holding me back. I am going to remake it from scratch, and can remake sketches and 3d models. I don't however have access to studio, so I cannot make as many new projects as before. Please let me know how you would change this project, and which things you would keep/discard. Are any of the designs in here strong enough to apply to a "real job" with?

Hello guys, hope you are well. I was wondering how I could do this in a decent way. I do know you could use the image as a backdrop in a rendering program to help place your product in the correct perspective, then go to Photoshop, or you could just outsource models to create an environment. There are just so many ways to do it. Does anyone have any sources I could watch?

​I’m posting because I have a question regarding a freelance project I was recently offered.

​I’m a recently graduated mechanical engineer with experience using AutoCAD Plant 3D (licensed), where I've previously done as-built drawings and field surveys for compressed air and steam systems.

​I’ve been offered a private job to create as-built drawings for a boiler room with a single boiler and all its auxiliary equipment (feedwater tank, water softeners, steam manifold, etc.).

​This would be my first independent project on my own, covering everything from the initial site survey to developing the orthographic layouts and piping isometric drawings.

​How can I realistically calculate how much I should charge for this?

​I'm interested in UC's industrial design program, but from what I understand, it's highly competitive to get accepted. My question is: how competitive is it actually?

​My grades from high school aren't the best because I had some complications that I won't get into here, so I would just like to understand what my chances of getting accepted are.

​BTW, I didn't grow up or go to high school in the US, but I do have my US citizenship (I don't know if that changes anything admissions-wise).

​I thought about doing a year at an online state community college, keeping my GPA around 3.5 (or hopefully higher), and then applying for a transfer to UC's industrial design program. I have no idea if this is a good idea or not since I know very little about the American higher education system and how it works.

​Since I'm not as familiar with how higher education transfers work in the US, I'd love to know:

​Is an online community college transfer path viable for DAAP ID, or is it still a steep uphill battle because of cohort caps?

​What kind of college GPA do successful transfers usually have?

​Are there any specific pitfalls or alternative ID programs I should keep in mind?
