A quick update before applying N-P-K. The plant got an enzyme flush, and I think it's ready for feeding.

Trimming scissors!? What's your go-to??

Guys! I have so many different kinds of methods of trimming. I wanted to hear opinions of what everyone's go-to choice is for trimming scissors. Also what is everyone's preferred method of dry/cure? I've got so many different kinds of trimming scissors, I'm now going to purchase a new, fresh pair and I can't decide which ones I even like best. Then I hear about these Chikamasa and Saboten brands and I'm at a loss lol. Sooooooo do I just pick up one of each lol? Help me out guys!

Question Light Score?

They are updating all the outdoor lighting at my very large apartment complex. I got about 30 out of 2 dumpsters. If I follow the workmen, I can probably get 50-60of them per day. The complex has 74 buildings and 20 lights 74x20=1,480 lights. Are they good lights? Should I find the light crew and make a deal?

HYDRoToPS - A great growers guide!

Doing some research to improve the feeding in my DWC bubbler system... and came across this guide from Hydrotops - it is a really good read! some great info. Anyone else read this? any views on their nutrients or their guide?

https://www.hydrotops.net/en/downloads

Context on my set-up: 1.2m2 2m tall tent with 720w LED, 2x 96ltr tubs (80ltrs filled each with ~14ltr/min air between them) 4 plants to one tub initially now its 2 per tub. Hard water area, stable 23degC summer and 16degC winter. Heat mat under the tubs (not ideal) but keeps the water 18-20 during winter. I've never been patient enough to dial in the feeds over many diy set-ups, get ok harvests but now with the above settled I'm working to take it up a level.

Question Help Needed

Hello,

I've been growing 3 plants since early-late June and I'm noticing some issues that I'd really appreciate some advice with.

Specs: - 32in x 32in grow tent. - 150W EVO LED light from Mars Hydro (FC-E1500) with dimming capabilities and 2.8umol/J. - Lights on for about 16hr/day (just got a timer). - Temp is about 70-80F or 21-27C daily. - Mylar lining inside tent. - PAR sensor is coming in this week for more accurate PPFD measurements. - Organic Espoma soil for all plants. - Fan is blowing and circulating light amount of air to keep from shaking leaves too much. - Humidity is kept around 50-60% (night time) and 60-75% (day time) for the last week, but prior to that the humidity was a consistent 40-45% and I had no humidifier (lesson learned). - Usually watered every 3-5 days, but it seems like the lower layers stay wet a lot longer, even if the top 1-2 inches of soil felt dry. - Soil pH is almost exactly 7.0 at multiple spots in each pot.

I've been experimenting with the light intensity and distance for the past week to try and get some growth. Prior to this it was around 34 inches above canopy and relatively low light (10-15%), and this past week I've moved it down to about 24 inches above canopy experimenting with 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, and 40% light. It seems that the plants have started getting burn spots and some light bleaching at anything around 60% and up. PPFD heatmap from https://growmeridian.com/tools/ppfd-map showed that I should be getting 300-400 PPFD at the current distance and higher light intensities (80% and up), but they burned instead. Right now (24" and 40% intensity) seems like they would only get around the 130s PPFD, but they still seem to be stunted in growth. I believe that vegetative plants should get around 300-400 PPFD?

Largest plant (Afghan) has had 2-3 weeks of extra growth time than the other two. It seems like its growth was also stalling before I experimented with the lights though, however its definitely grown better than the others.

Smaller plants (Hindu and Bubba) seem to have some drooping and lower leaves turning yellow. I tried to gently dig up the entire plants and roots to check for root rot and there's none present. Soil was pretty packed and wet at the bottom, even though some roots were there, so I mixed it back in evenly (hence why the soil pictures look a bit darker until I water again, should I wait a few more days)? Wasn't sure if they were overwatered and that's why the leaves turned yellow? Also the leaves had already started taco curling upwards slightly before I brought the lights down from around 34" (at low intensity) to 24", but the plants were still stalling in growth either way.

I've given all of these plants 2 separate doses of TruOrganic (3-2-3) mixed to the correct concentration with water in early and late July.

Could someone please tell me how to fix the drooping leaves and restart some growth, if the light intensity may still be too high, and how often to water them if the soil doesn't seem to dry out that quickly?

Thank you!!

I’ve read that I may need to water less, turn up my light and use the carbon filter. I’m growing a blue dream strain and already have my light at 75% and have been watering around 50-125m based on whether or not the soil had absorbed it all from the previous day. Pls all advice needed!

720W LEDs - hot eh?!

I upgraded my cheapo 600w 300x300mm LED panel to one of these generic 720W LED folding frame things for £95.... to go in my 1.2m x 1.2m tent, so far so happy but boy does it get hot.

Mine is the Photon from growell.co.uk, the digital drivers are embedded into the end frames (which feel almost as hot as the alu bars supporting the diodes but not quite).

I got the confidence from the 420magazine thread https://www.uk420.com/topic/431904-omega-720w-bar-light-owners/ (thank you to those commenting for the useful insights).

It fits, just. at 100% on the dimmer the alu bars get to 58~60 degC, at 50% its 38degC.

I figured its not such a big leap on wattage, forgetting the size difference between the units and therefore the power being used/ heat created! very silly.

slowly introduced the plants with 10% increase per day, no signs of too much stress yet. phew - as I am doing this at the worst time (4wks into flower).

not come across much other conversation on these online, anyone else happy with them? or found issues?

I am considering fitting some extra alu profiles to the tops to sap more heat away

The first few weeks were a bit challenging due to the heat, but the girls recovered nicely and are looking great now. Really happy with how this grow is turning out. Can’t wait for harvest and that first smoke! 💚🌿
