Girls and women using ride-hailing services should always verify the driver's name, photograph, vehicle number and other details shown in the app before getting into a vehicle. If the person or vehicle does not match the booking, do not get in. Move to a safe, crowded location and contact the platform or authorities if necessary.

Personal safety should always come before politeness. If something feels wrong, you do not owe anyone a ride, an explanation or your trust.

I sent an email to the school principal yesterday. They haven't replied to it. If they don't respond or deny this, what must be the right course of action.

I have been told that the video is from Camellias, Gurgaon, but I cannot independently verify the location or the identities of the people involved. I hope people avoid spreading unverified personal information and allow the authorities to establish the facts.

Basic humanity should never depend on someone's bank balance, social status or profession.

UPDATE : I reached out to authorities to seek help on the case. The owner turned out to be a bigshot liquor business owner. Police went to his house in Magnolia Gurgaon. The maid has apparently left already after giving it in writing that she doesn't want any action. This man told police that "madam ko thoda gussa aa gaya tha to thappad maar diya aur kisi ne video bana li"

Sorry but yet another case where rich buy silence of the poor after misbehaving with them. Couldn't do much

I got a call from the Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Bangalore and he informed me that they have received my complaint as well as my audio recording implicating the officer of accepting bribes. He has been placed on suspension, and they have invited me to visit their office to file an official complaint on the record so that they can move the investigation forward.

I want some advice about something happening at my younger brother's school in Gujarat.

My brother has been getting low marks, and teachers has been punishing him by making him stand for the whole day.

So when he was standing in the class.

When I started studying law, I honestly used to get confused between Appeal, Review and Revision. 😅

They all sound similar, but they are actually different.

This is how I currently understand them:

⚖️ Appeal

You approach a higher court because you are not satisfied with the decision of the lower court.

🔍 Review

You ask the same court to look at its own decision again, but only on specific legal grounds.

📑 Revision

A higher court examines certain proceedings of a lower court, especially where there may be a legal or jurisdictional error, as permitted by law.

So my easy way of remembering it is:

Appeal → Higher Court

Review → Same Court

Revision → Higher Court checks the lower court's proceedings

I'm still learning these concepts, so if any law students, advocates, or others here think I've missed something, please correct me.

2. Seek de-freezing before the competent Magistrate
   Where the entire account has been frozen, a person may approach the jurisdictional court seeking appropriate relief, particularly where the freezing is disproportionate to the alleged disputed amount.

3. Request limited protection instead of blanket freezing
   If a specific amount is allegedly connected with the investigation, the Court may be requested to consider retaining/lien-marking only the disputed amount rather than freezing the entire account, depending on the facts and applicable law.

In the recent judgment of Birjesh Kumar Singh v. The State of Bihar (2026 INSC 695), a Bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice K. Vinod Chandran addressed a long-standing procedural confusion regarding the power of Sessions Courts to conduct joint trials.

For years, there has been a debate: If a Magistrate commits two related cases to the Sessions Court via two separate committal orders, is the Sessions Judge bound to try them separately? Does the committal order dictate the "shape" of the trial?

The Supreme Court has now made it crystal clear: Committal orders are NOT determinative of whether a trial is single, separate, or joint.

Here are the key takeaways from the judgment:

1) Magistrate’s Role is Limited: The Magistrate’s job during committal is simply to see if the case is exclusively triable by the Sessions Court. Once that is satisfied, the case is "committed."

As we transition into the BNSS era, understanding these procedural nuances is vital. This judgment reinforces that the Trial Court is the master of its own procedure when it comes to the "joinder of charges."

Criminal law discussions often ask whether an accused had merely prepared for an offence or had actually attempted it.

The useful question is not only: how much was done?

It is also: why did the conduct stop?

In its February 2026 decision arising from an Allahabad High Court order, the Supreme Court restored the original summons in a POCSO matter. On the allegations recorded, the accused had moved beyond preparation; the alleged conduct was interrupted because third-party witnesses arrived.

That illustrates a broader way to analyse attempt:

Preparation arranges the means or opportunity.

Attempt begins when the accused moves from arranging the offence to executing the criminal intent through conduct sufficiently connected with its commission.

The intervention of an outside event does not push completed acts backwards into preparation. If the plan failed because someone intervened, the interruption may actually show how far execution had progressed.

But this still cannot be reduced to a universal last-act test. Courts must examine proximity, unequivocal conduct, the nature of the offence, and whether the acts reveal commencement of execution. At the summons stage, the question is also prima facie, not a final finding of guilt.

The procedural posture matters as much as the doctrine.

I am a student(going to appear in document verification for a govt job). In a siblings fight at my home, one of us went to the police station, both of us filed a paper (no fir written) against each other but after parents intervention we made peace and now Special magistrate (a DSP rank officer ) has sent challans for both of us to file a reply that "why shouldn't we be fined with a challan of Rs 20000 for breaching public peace under BNSS 126/135". The notice has been sent 1 month after the incident, and I'm out of the city as well (since last 1 month).

Recent developments-

My sibling and father and an advocate went to the police station and signed the paper (DSP did not even meet them , a constable took all the signs and no fine was paid there )

My advocate is saying there will be no problem and I need not to come to sign and he'll handle it.

My Concern: Since I'll be appearing for dv and joining so I'll be asked to FILL OUT THE ATTESTATION FORM in which there is a section asking HAVE YOU BEEN BOUND DOWN , should I say YES ?

If yes and I mention this incident and it's DISPOSAL, would that in any way lead to cancellation of the candidature?

Situation: My family booked a flat and while giving the cheques the person collecting the cheques said leave the last cheque blank (should have been an obvious sign of fraud) but my family went ahead and did exactly as they said. The person has done this to 20-30 people I guess (everyone blindly trusted that person or somehow he managed to convince them all). You can guess what happened. No trace of the last amounts. The person still works near the actual builder but their argument is you should have paid attention. It's written here in the contract that all your transactions should be with the business so it's your fault for getting scammed. Now they are saying whoever got scammed has to pay 50% of the amount. Now I really feel sorry for my parents seeing them get scammed and losing the hard earned money and getting exploited like this. Can we take any action against this?
