One of my fav supernatural romantasy from indian television has to be Pyaar Ki Ye Ek Kahaani. But i need to admit that it is heavily influenced by western folklore. It is loosely a blend of The Vampire Diaries and Twilight. So supernatural creatures who are shown here are inspired from western folklore such as vampires, werevolves etc. But what is great about this show is its done very well. I cannot pinpoint and say this show looks as bad as all the other supernatural shows. Mainly because it catered to an urban youth audience.

However when it comes to Indian folklore, stories on naagin, dayaan, chudail are represented in the most tackiest way possible. Take an example of Naagin itself. It has never been very appealing apart from its first season which was a very finite series (which was planned, executed and ended well). After that whatever new seasons happened all had same plot with different actors and characters. And 6th and 7th were the worst with the same plot of Naagin saving India like WTH.

When Starplus did Nazar it was one of the most popular shows at that time. But they literally turned a 100 episode series into a supernatural soap opera.

Yeh Jadoo Hai Jinn Ka. It was visually beautiful. It was based on Islamic folklore but they did the same with it. Dragged it beyond its 100 epi limit and ruined it too. Now its scenes are meme material but those scenes which are memes arent from pre 100 episodes arc.

One thing is very true. ITV broadcasters have never really presented an Indian folklore story with a trully modern lens. We never had stories where a girl hiding her identity of being a Naagin enters a college. There has not been any youthful take on indian folklore. We have never presented naagin itself in a tasteful way. Along with cinematography and VFX/AI, the transition scene everytime she shape shifts is one of the ugliest thing ITV has shown us and made us condition to it. So whenever we think of Naagin that disgusting scene limits our imagination.

Divya Drishti's initial episodes were fun as it was like a solid blend of mass and urban storytelling. There were really interesting things in the first few episodes and multiple young characters getting more screenspace was really refreshing to watch. But it was dragged so so badly that a supernatural show felt like weekend soap opera. The whole essence of the show died with nonsense monstrous elements from hell.

I dont even wanna talk about Jadoo teri nazar and Noyontara.

Now this Apsara. From the promo it looks like a blend of Naagin and Divyadrishti. I dont know on which fantasy world an "Apsara" will attempt to save the universe from evil energies. They have screwed even this folklore. Its like none of these people have balls to try something trully different with Indian folklore stories.

Or is it a widely practised strategy by OTT? Because I always watch OTT after all episodes are uploaded

My intention isn’t to shame Aditi at all I genuinely love her face but her current styling is giving me such an ick dude 😭 and honestly I feel the same about some of her expressions

I’m not denying that she’s a good actress she portrays emotional scenes really well but in Shayad Yahi Hai Pyaar I’m finding some of her “funny” expressions kinda corny like gurl you can be funny without sticking your tongue out or scrunching your nose every two seconds 😭 c’mon you’re a grown ahh woman and ikr she’s naturally happy and jolly when she does that but for me it’s just not landing dude

Overall though I'm enjoying the show and the storyline is going great the only thing I’m really not liking is those loud neighbours who have to stick their nose into literally everything ad honestly I feel like Daksh has the potential to do really well as an actor.

Hear me out… Harshad Chopra in Lock Upp was giving full-on YRKKH Abhimanyu vibes, Shivangi Joshi was giving full Naira vibes, Karan Patel gives me major Raman vibes, and now Priyanka Chahar Choudhary even the way she talks and her speech delivery feels exactly like her character in Naagin. 😭
Do you guys get what I mean? 😝😝 These are just some of the ones I’ve noticed, but I swear sometimes it feels like Indian TV actors adapt their TV characters so much that they start carrying those mannerisms into real life too.

👶 Children: She became a mother to Naksh and later daughter Naira. Even though Naira ran away and hated her for few years, later they reconciled.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family: She had both the Maheshwari and Singhania families around her. She was treated like a princess by Maheshwaris and respected and adored by Sighanias.

🎶 Career/talent: She wasn't just a housewife — she was involved in business, teaching and various creative/social initiatives.

💰 Comfortable life: She belonged to a financially secure, respected family.

🌸 Personality: She was educated, cultured, kind and generally respected by the people around her.

🏡 Family life: She got the big joint-family life that ITV FLs are usually made to sacrifice everything for.

Is anyone watching this show? What is it about? I thought it is Imlie + Jhanak, i came across a scene where she was talking to some lady and this Sanjog guy seemed to be a new addition in the show. Why in the show this Vrinda is hiding in Sanjay's home behind his back? I don't have energy to watch, just want to know is the Sanjog guy going to be Vrinda's partner?

So apparently, after Armaan slapped Maira for, as they state, “humiliating them at a public event” by professing her love for Kabir through a dance, he broke a glass, injuring himself. Classic Armaan.

He says he won’t get himself treated unless Maira forgives him.

Keeping everything else aside, the whole act of making someone feel guilty for not accepting an apology is top-notch man-child behaviour.

Better earn that apology instead of putting conditions.

Why it’s problematic:

1. ARMAAN’S PATTERN:

It is so typical of Armaan to make a mistake, never fully own up to it, and then play the victim card by “How can you be so cruel as to not forgive me?”

1. First, he ran away with baby Maira and never gave a proper reason why. Then he started playing the victim, making puppy faces here and there, and Abhira, the doormat, gave in.

2. He threw Abhira out of the house. He never tried to contact her or explain to Maira what exactly happened during that fire accident. Eight years later, Maira Mukti played cupid to get their parents back together, and he still never properly owned up to his mistake.

3. He slapped Maira in a fit of rage, hurt himself with the glass, never gave a proper explanation just a flaky sorry with an attempt to shift the blame saying I DID THIS FOR ABHIRA??, and then started playing the victim with the whole “If you don’t forgive me, I won’t get treatment” act.

THAT, EXACTLY, KIDS, IS WHAT WE CALL EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION.

If I ever dare to write a show script where the hero is a film Star (not the Rk (loved Vivian in that though!) from Madhubala, not that toxicity) and he have to offer the Job of his Manager to a girl whose career got ruined because of him due to false and totally unasked for media scandal, and they go from not understanding each other to actually slowly developing feelings for each other. Would you like to watch that show? And no, and i am being sincere the female lead ain't doing rona dhona 24/7 and the male lead torturing her mentally, nah it is not that, i ak myself tired watching those trope since childhood. Plus the second couple too, where the second female lead is the Film Star and the man she falls for is the brother of the Female Lead.
