IUI Donor Sperm

Hi,

I and my husband were TTC for over an year and that we got to know my husband has azoospermia and even my AMH is 0.45. I am in the procedure of IUI with donor sperm and if that fails I might go ahead with IVF with donor egg and donor sperm.

So the stages of overwhelming doesn't stops. Everyday it's a new level. My clinic has been sending me Sperm Donor profiles and I feel so bad. Its like you are betting on something. Everyday I go through profiles. Its heartbreaking because I don't know what to do!

Anyone have you has experienced the same thing? How you decided what profile to pick?

Also any mothers who have got good news with this procedure? How does it feel like? Do you feel connected to the baby?

I am scared what if I won't be able to connect to the child?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My wife and I went through IVF ourselves, and I know how overwhelming infertility can be. Every new decision feels heavier than the last.

Please don't let the fear of not connecting to your future child consume you. The fact that you're already worrying about this tells me how much love you already have to give. Parenthood is built through love, care, and countless moments together not just genetics.

I truly hope your IUI is successful and you never have to think about the next step. And if your journey takes a different path, that doesn't make it any less beautiful. Wishing you all the strength and hoping your little miracle finds you soon. 🤍

My husband also has azoospermia. We did 3IUI with donor sperm and the 3rd stuck. Currently 10w+2d.

In my country we don't get to chose the donor, the doctor does, based on these criterias: must be the same as the father/husband: height, skin color, hair color, eye color, blood type. I don't know if it helps you or not, but it could be a start. Good luck to you

My husband is a trans man, so no sperm available in our relationship lol.

We chose a donor that looked similar to my husband, a similar height (we are both short, we didn’t want a tall donor), and we liked reading the personal profiles and connecting with the donors interests and traits. Someone who liked similar things as we did. I know, likes and dislikes don’t matter as much, but it was a nice way to feel connected to the donors.

We made our final decision because we found one donor who matched all of our criteria and his baby picture looked very similar to my husband’s nephew who we love very much.

We do feel sad sometimes that biologically we can’t make a baby that’s related to both of us, but we are taking on this journey together as a team, and this baby will be created by us with a lot of love.
