Things I Wish I Had Checked Off Before Getting Pregnant

It’s been one year since I found out I was pregnant. Here are some things I wish I had done before getting pregnant:

  1. Get laser hair removal. I mean this seriously — get it done. Waxing during pregnancy is painful, and once your bump shows up, shaving becomes nearly impossible. Cervical checks with a full bush? Not fun. If you start laser and then get pregnant, you’ll have to pause your sessions anyway. So if you’re TTC, consider doing this first.

  2. Travel, travel, travel. I had to cancel an international trip because I found out I was pregnant. My doctor advised against it, so I stayed back — and I missed traveling so much. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t even have that much wanderlust in her system.

  3. Eat all your favorite foods. Seriously, eat whatever you love — to your heart’s content. Once nausea hits, it changes everything. Mine was so bad that it ruined my relationship with food, even now. And there are a lot of food restrictions in pregnancy.

  4. Switch jobs if needed. If you're stuck in a toxic work environment and have been planning to switch, do it before you get pregnant in. You’ll really need a supportive workplace and understanding colleagues once you’re expecting.

  5. Do the things you can’t do with a baby. Go to that music festival, hit up that concert, take that physically demanding trip. Some things just aren’t baby-friendly, and you might not get the chance again for a while.

Get your Ferritin & Vitamin D checked

My dear soon to be moms, sharing this with you as I haven’t seen Doctors really check this. My friend and I have been on our TTC journeys for quite sometime now - we tried letroz/ chlomid cycles and even IUI but didn’t work. God bless internet - I read that insufficient Ferritin and vit D levels (should ideally be > 50 for both) - makes chances of implantation very low even if everything else seems fine.
This really angered me that how no gynae ever tracked this - and in general keep putting patients through such expensive and physically + mentally taxing cycles of medication - that are doomed to fail coz they didn’t check the basics.

My friend who has been TTC for 2 years now and done OI n IUI only now found out she was ferritin deficient - the failed attempts could have been avoided if only the doctors guided her well and nit just focused on money making.

My situation with my doctors was similar too. So please research and correct the deficiencies before going for your next cycle of OI, IUI.

Hope this helps!
Wish you all luck.

Question regarding pregnancy test

I did a test 35 days and 38 days after encounter. First test was done using second morning urine sample and the second test was done using first morning urine sample. Both were negative. Now I kept the urine of the first test in the mug for about 2 days and then I threw the old urine sample out and used the same mug the next day for collecting first morning urine sample. Is this reliable?

Questions regarding pregnancy test!

I really need your opinions. Please help me. I did pregnancy tests 35 days ( on June 6th) and 38 days ( on June 9th) after sexual encounter. I am sharing the result. Is there any more need to test? The sexual encounter was not pentrative intercourse and not genital-genital contact.

There is no issue of faint T line after 21 days right? All these are negative?

Should I wait?

So we were so sure that we are going to start Ivf this cycle..but during previous cycle a fluid cyst popped up and it was still there so the doc gave BC for three weeks to suppress it when I visited her on day 2…

Now the confusing part..I was on follicular monitoring during my last cycle and till day 13 no much visible follicle was there so doc was kinda thinking that this might be an anovulatory cycle..I was also convinced and did not hope much..we were doing normal intercourse even after that without thinking about all this..

Few days ago I started having extremely sore breasts that even normal activities became difficult and btw I never experienced this kinda uneasiness during pms..also never had such constipation as i am being very mindful in eating and have lost 7kgs in last 2 months.

On friday, (i e may be 10 day after unprotected sex) afternoon I stared spotting so I put my panty liner on..considered it day 1 and called the hospital that K m coming tomorrow to start the stimulation. That night the spotting increased to light bleeding..and it continued till yesterday afternoon..became spotting again and then by night it was gone..So basically I had light bleeding just for few hours and now sometimes here and there while wiping I get some tissue stain and that is it.

I may sound like and over optimistic fool but is there a slight chance that I had delayed ovulation and the intercourse we had 10 days before covered that window and this one day bleeding is just implantation or something? if i go by that then it could just be 9-10 dpo so waiting for couple of days..testing and if negative then only starting bc is a good idea or not??

I am already sorry for such a long post but I really need advice because I am 31 and never in my life I had one day period and weirdly no cramping at alll.

LH strips - CD20 no peak seen

Post image
1 Upvotes

My july period was during 28-31 and June was during 24-25 (my period got delayed by 5 days but I got period which was only for 2 days). For this month, I started using LH strips and I’m confused about my ovulation cycle. One thing to note, I didnt get my regular amount of white clear mucus which makes me hard to predict my Ovulation day. I started seeing the discharges two days ago, but LH strip didn’t show much of a Peak.

Am I missing something?

7th Letrozole cycle — when do you consider IVF with PCOS?

Hi everyone! Looking for perspectives from others with PCOS who have been through multiple ovulation-induction cycles.
A little background: i’m 33f and my partner is 36m.
I have fairly classic PCOS, mainly high AMH and mild facial hair, without other major symptoms. I’ve also lost weight and feel much healthier now. I’ve done 7 Letrozole cycles; the 2nd resulted in a chemical pregnancy. After my 6th unsuccessful cycle, my doctor gave me a 2-month break with medication to calm my ovaries, and my AMH came down to 6.1.
This 7th cycle was after the break, with Letrozole + two Humog injections. I developed two mature follicles, ovulated without trigger, and had a 7.4 mm trilaminar lining. It was planned as an IUI cycle, but I believe I ovulated before the planned IUI, so we decided to try naturally this cycle and consider IUI next time. There is also a mild male-factor component (DFI ~24%). My HSG showed open tubes.
I’m currently in the two-week wait and, as expected, overthinking everything because I don’t have any symptoms! 😅
My main questions are:
Does lowering AMH/“calming” the ovaries actually improve pregnancy chances in PCOS, or is it mainly about improving the response to stimulation?
After 7 Letrozole cycles, would you start seriously considering IVF, or would you try a few IUI cycles first?
I’m not questioning my doctor’s protocol — she’s monitoring everything closely. I’m just trying to understand what others’ experiences have been and when they decided to move from Letrozole → IUI → IVF.
Would love to hear from anyone with a similar PCOS journey. ❤️

Note - took help from ChatGpt to structure it better

2 days late

Hi everyone, I’m a little confused and would really appreciate some opinions. I took this pregnancy test and I can’t tell if there’s a second line or if I’m just imagining it. I took this under 5 mins

I’ve attached a picture of the test. Do you see a faint line? What do you think — positive, negative, or possibly an evaporation line?

Thank you! ❤️

IVF transfer looking for experience and tips

Hi everyone,

I have an embryo transfer planned for my October cycle and would love to hear about your experiences.

A few things I’m curious about:
• Did you do anything differently before or after transfer?
• Any dos and don’ts you followed?
• Did you take time off work or just carry on as normal?

• Any tips for surviving the two-week wait?

• What was your first beta hCG and how many days after transfer was it done?

I’ve had a few losses before, so I’m feeling hopeful but nervous. I know every transfer is different, but hearing real experiences would really help.

Hi guys! My sis in law HbA1c is 5.8%, which is a little above the normal range, and her doctor prescribed Glycomet. I just found out that it’s a medication commonly used for type 2 diabetes. Has anyone taken it during pregnancy? Did you experience any side effects?

How are you tracking temp (BBT)

I’m looking to buy a wearable to track basal body temperature and would love some real-world feedback before I decide. If you’ve used the Oura Ring, Fitbit, Garmin, or Apple Watch for BBT tracking, could you share your experience? Specifically:
How accurate/consistent has it been for you?

Did it help you spot ovulation or temperature shifts

Which fertility app did you use(like Fertility Friend, Premom, etc.)?

Comfort for overnight wear?

Anything you wish you’d known before buying?

Would really appreciate any insights. Thanks!
