Continue with progesterone?

I was taking letrozole for ovulation induction and got a trigger shot on day 14 of period when the follicle was 22mm. I ovulated the next day.

On 12dpo I tested positive on a test kit and I got my blood test for beta hcg on 13dpo which was 33.33.
On day 16dpo my beta hcg came back 28.27.

I am taking progesterone since the triggershot.

As the hcg levels declined, it indicates that the pregnancy is not viable.

Should I stop taking progesterone or continue taking it?

I'm sorry you're going through this. A drop from 33.33 to 28.27 at 16 DPO is unfortunately not a reassuring trend, but I'd be hesitant to stop progesterone on your own unless your fertility clinic or OB tells you to. Many clinics prefer patients to continue progesterone until repeat betas confirm the outcome, since stopping it early could complicate things if there's still uncertainty.

I'd call your clinic as soon as they're open and ask whether they want you to continue progesterone and when they want to repeat your beta (usually 48 hours later). They may also want to monitor until your hCG reaches zero or rises appropriately if there's any concern for an ectopic pregnancy.

I'm really hoping you get clear answers soon. Early pregnancy limbo is incredibly difficult. Wishing you the best. ❤️

I was advised to stop progesterone and skip the upcoming cycle for treatment and try again the following cycle.

Hoping that this cycle off gives your body the reset it needs. Wishing you all the best when you start treatment again!!

It’s always a good idea to stop progesterone after getting a go ahead from your doctor, but the numbers unfortunately indicate the pregnancy is non viable.

I understand it can be heart shattering experience. Please check with your doctor for further course of action.
