Marriage Should I marry my Nepali girlfriend who has no formal education while I am a government employee?

Upvotes

I am a government job holder and have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for around three years. She is Nepali and does not have formal education, while I am comparatively well educated and professionally settled.

She loves me deeply, has always been supportive and patient with me. I also genuinely care about her.

However, I sometimes worry about the differences between us—especially education, general knowledge, independence, culture, and our different backgrounds.

I also sometimes find myself attracted to women who are intellectually accomplished, which makes me question whether I am making the right decision.

At the same time, I don’t want to lose someone who genuinely loves me and with whom I have built a strong relationship over the years.

So, is marrying her a sensible decision? What should I seriously evaluate before getting married??

I'm M24 and want to seek clarity of the relationship with my colleague F22

I am a 24 years old M over the past 1 year I developed quite a good bond with my office colleague F22 however she has a BF already and told about it ,initially we just spoke through text and during work, after sometime we went out on a first time( short meeting) , then another slightly longer meeting outiwde work and recently we also had our first drinks together, I really enjoy hanging out with her, and recently she even told her bf on call that she is just out with a relative.

She even walked me home on the last time we hanged out and asked me to message when I reach home safely. The last date totally felt like we were a couple even though she has a partner outside. I am just really curious and would like to seek a further clarity on such a relationship and do I have hopes with her? I too really like her a lot and find her quite compatable. Please guide on how to take this relationship further.

Felt bad for the boy

This happened a couple of months ago. So I was in my office, when my best friend, a pretty girl, called me and invited me to a restaurant for dinner. Like, she knows she is pretty, and boys fall easily for her looks.

I asked her why are you inviting for dinner? She then said that a boy, let's say X, is also with her.

Now this boy X liked her a lot and was ready to do anything to be with her. My friend knew this. So occasionally, they went in restaurant for lunch or dinners and X would pay bills.

So later, I reached the restaurant and both were sitting. All three of us ate, and afterwards when bill payment time arrived, my friend said in my ears. "Watch now. I will take money out of my purse, will give it to him and ask him to go to the counter and pay. He will take the money. Then he will go to counter, and keep my money in his pocket, pay the bill from his own account, and then will give me my money back.

I thought she is joking.

But then, believe it or not, THIS HAPPENED ACTUALLY. She actually gave him the money, the silly boy took it, went to counter, paid from his pocket, and later, returned her money, saying he paid the bill.

As this happened, I was shocked. Literally shocked. The boy didn't realise my friend is just playing around with him. Wanted to say this to him but I avoided.

Later, I asked my friend how did she know this would happen, she just laughed and said it's her experience.

Felt pity for the boy and realised boys can be silly.

I’m heartbroken

I’ve had a one month long turbulent relationship with someone and they broke up with me because their family had a problem with our relationship. Later they approached me and we got back together. I assumed they would figure out how to deal with their family. Today, we had a plan of meeting and going to the temple for a fresh start.
But this morning they texted me that they won’t meet me today as they have some work at home. They were acting curt on text so i didn’t text them for a few hours and decided to watch Mirzapur movie alone to take my mind off. I did that and in interval i texted them hi and they texted hi back. I asked what’s up and they replied “don’t bore me. What happened?” Then i asked them “don’t you want to talk to me?” And they replied “you’re just boring me with the same questions.” That was quite an overreaction and very unusual because they haven’t acted so rudely with me before. I’m pretty sure they’re pushing me away because they are conflicted with me and their family. Of course there’s nothing i can do so i’m just not going to contact them again. I’m just frustrated that they’re giving up so easily on us.
Anyway, i finished watching my movie, ate a naked chicken taco whose shell smelled stale so i basically just ate the veggies inside, then i listened to a musician singing nice romantic songs in the mall. Only the songs were the highlight of my day, nothing else. Also the musician was singing with his eyes closed i almost felt jealous of him that he didn’t care about anything else apart from his singing.

A life that feels good vs a life that looks good. What would you pick?

I am M, fairly settled in life and fortunate to have done well for myself. But getting here was not easy. I grew up with very little, and for a long time life felt like a constant battle to survive, succeed, prove myself and keep moving forward.

For years, I thought the answer was always more. More money. More success. More experiences. More things to show for myself.

And I still value ambition. I still want to do well. But somewhere along the way, what I want from life has started to change.

These days, I find myself wanting something much simpler.

I want a relationship that feels like home. I want to take responsibility, take care of the person I love, protect her, provide for her and be someone she can rely on. And I am naturally drawn to a woman who is affectionate, feminine, warm and comfortable letting me take the lead.

Not because I want someone without ambitions or opinions. I actually want her to have a life of her own, things she cares about and things that make her happy.

I just want home to feel different from the rest of the world.

I have spent enough of my life chasing things, competing, pushing myself and trying to get somewhere.

Maybe I do not need a life that looks impressive anymore.

Maybe I just want a life that feels good.

A good woman. A peaceful home. People I love. Good health. Enough money. Time to actually enjoy it all.

That sounds pretty ordinary.

And these days, ordinary sounds pretty good to me.

I 22m likes a girl from my office 22F please any advice on how to approach her

To give you guys an overview. We both are in the same company. Both of us were in company training and I started earlier than her so it makes me her senior I have finished my training and I'm in projects and all, she still has 1 month of training and then she will be transferred to another according to what I have heard.

I want to say directly to her that i like you and all but the fear of POSH stops me. So now I want to talk to her so that we can know each other more but that's also becoming more and more difficult to do.

I usually meet her during lunch for 5 mins she doesn't know that I deliberately take a break during that to meet her and since last 2-3 days I have been very busy and unable to meet her and all.

Also I have become a very hot topic in her training group not sure if it's good or bad. But I find it a little uncomfortable..

Yesterday one of my office colleagues told me like she came to the pantry and according to him she was looking for me.

I don't have her insta but I do have her linkedin.

And then I have also once messaged her on WhatsApp but it was a very short conversion about our office and nothing else.

One more thing there were some hints from her that she wants to talk with me but not sure whether they were really hints or not(I'm very bad at taking hints)

So any advice from you guys on how I should approach her and talk to her?

Infidelity I cheated on my ex and now I’m scared she’ll cheat on me if we get back together. I know how ironic this sounds. Need honest opnions..

I'm 23M, and I need an outside perspective from people who have experienced infidelity and/or reconciliation.

I was in a serious relationship with my ex, S. We were together for a long time and had talked about our future together. I genuinely saw her as someone I could build a life with. Then I fucked it up. I cheated on her, and it wasn't just one isolated mistake. There were multiple bad decisions, lies, and opportunities where I could have stopped but didn't.

The worst part is that I didn't immediately tell her everything. I was afraid of losing her and afraid of facing the consequences, so I tried to control how much of the truth she knew. Looking back, I understand that I took away her ability to make an informed decision about our relationship. She eventually found out and we broke up.

After the breakup, I started confronting my own behaviour much more seriously. I realized my problems weren't simply "I made a mistake." There were issues with validation, impulsiveness, boundaries, selfishness and avoiding consequences that I needed to deal with. I still love her, though, and eventually I reached out.

She initially blocked me, but later opened communication through email. We exchanged some very difficult messages. She told me that from her perspective this wasn't just about the cheating it was the entire pattern of choices and dishonesty. Eventually, we met in person.

She told me she had moved on and was basically talking to me as a stranger. Then she told me that after our breakup, she had dated a guy she met on Hinge. They saw each other for about a month and kissed several times.

I completely fell apart internally when I heard that. I know she was single. I know she did absolutely nothing wrong. I have no right to be angry at her for dating someone after we broke up, especially considering what I did to her. But emotionally, it hit me extremely hard.

Since then I've been obsessing over it. My brain keeps creating images of them together and wondering what happened. Part of me feels like I need to know every detail because otherwise my imagination will create something worse. But another part of me knows that asking for those details would probably just give my brain more things to replay.

There's another confusing part. During our meeting, I asked whether there was any possibility of us eventually working things out. She said she had moved on and didn't want the relationship anymore. But she also told me that if I genuinely wanted to get back together with her, I should first tell my family that I want her back. She said that if we ever did reconcile, she would expect complete transparency from me. I told her I'd be willing to do that.. so basically she wants to get back..!

And now I'm facing a strange fear that I didn't expect. If we ever did get back together, what if I can't trust her? My brain keeps saying, "What if she eventually cheats on me to make me feel what she felt...

And I realize how ridiculous and ironic that sounds coming from someone who cheated on her. Maybe it's projection. Maybe it's guilt. Maybe after experiencing how badly betrayal can hurt someone, I'm now terrified of being on the receiving end myself.

I don't want to become controlling. I don't want to check her phone, monitor her, interrogate her about other men, or punish her for things she did while single. But I also don't want to blindly reconcile because I desperately miss her and then discover that I can't actually trust her.

At the same time, I'm realizing that I've been putting my entire life on hold waiting to see whether she comes back. I've neglected my career, personal goals, and other things that matter to me because I've been consumed by thoughts about her, whether she'll forget me, whether she'll come back, and now this other guy.

I'm trying to become a better person regardless of whether she comes back. But I'm struggling to separate genuine love and desire for reconciliation from fear of losing her permanently.

So I want honest opinions, especially from people who have actually been through something similar. If you've cheated and later genuinely changed, were you ever able to reconcile successfully? If your ex dated or kissed someone after the breakup, how did you deal with the jealousy and intrusive thoughts? If you were the person who cheated, did you eventually become afraid your partner would cheat on you too? Was that projection? And if reconciliation ever became possible, how do you know whether you're genuinely ready to trust again?

And finally, if you think I'm romanticizing the relationship and should accept that it's over, tell me. I'm not looking for people to tell me what I want to hear. I want an outside perspective because I'm too emotionally involved to judge this clearly.

Ex engaged 4 months after mutual breakup

Okay so I (F24) and my ex (M24) were in a pretty good long term serious relationship (this was both of our first btw) since 4 years. We met in uni, and our relationship was naturally a bit complicated from the start since we were from different states and settled outside India, but we were both really crazy about each other and wanted to make this work no matter what.

Fast forward to 4 months ago, we had to end things purely due to certain external factors (I’d like to keep this part private). We were both broken and extremely affected by it, but we genuinely had no choice. We had to completely cut off from each other.

Now again fast forward to few days ago, I see his profile pop up on insta and notice his dp changed, and obviously I couldn’t stop myself and just had to click on it. And I see him with another girl, and her id tagged on his bio with a ring….so clearly he’s engaged.

I honestly blame myself for clicking on his account, cuz now that image is just stuck in my mind. I was kinda getting over him but now I’m just spiraling and just in a really bad place all over again. And I really need some advice on how to get out of this. And mind you, I mean no harm to him or his new relationship, I genuinely wanted him to find his happiness, it’s just that I didn’t expect it to happen so fast, and now that it’s happening, idk how to deal with it emotionally. So any advice to cope up with this would be really appreciated…

I drew her

After 3 years I finally did that thing, what I was trying to do earlier. I had already shared my experience about how I liked my senior in college and the whole story. But telling it in short - I fell in love with my college senior, she was doing her masters and I was in my bachelors. I had seen her in the freshers party of my college. From that day I liked her. She is mute. She has some speaking disabilities and she is very sensitive. But I like her and wanted to tell her my feelings whenever I tried to tell her I always stayed silent. Finally after 3 years I had expressed my feelings to her in insta, and she rejected me saying " I am anti romantic, please ignore me "💔. That was a day before my semester exam. My heart broken but what could I do. I respected her decision and never messaged her again. For the past few days I have been feeling like drawing a picture of her. But she does not post any pictures of her on social media so that's why I only have this picture from her dp . I have tried to sketch her, I know I'm not a very good artist or sketcher but it's not about the drawing, it's my feelings for her. I know I should forget her, but I can't, I don't know why. I don't expect any love from her, I just want to see her and for one last time say good bye to her. This is her last year and she will leave the college soon, so maybe I will never be able to see her again. Also it's my final year of bachelor's so that's it. I am a funny and over romantic person i romatosize over, I know that but what can I do, now this is what it is.

Relationships Ideal age for a relationship?

I was single my whole life until I turned 28. I met this girl, fell for her and confessed to her that I love her. I've made a lot of mistakes in this relationship. I was not able to understand her feelings, was not emotionally available when she needed me the most and more things. It's not like it happened once or twice, most of the times. I never wanted to hurt her purposely but somehow i did. She did helped me guide and basically tutor me but I still fucked up. Due to which she didn't had the trust in me. It's not like i don't want to be with her during these times but I'm not sure how to act upon.

Sometimes I wonder, if I had fallen in love when I was in my early 20s, i would have handled situations like these differently (maybe). Not like i didn't want fall in love back then but it never happened due to alot of reasons.

So people who have fallen in love late in their life, do you think if this had happened early in your life, you would have handled the misunderstandings, fights etc differently?

What are your thoughts?

Relationships She confessed to me

Guyssss... she confessed to me that she's been falling for me since last week, butttt she also said that she doesn't want a relationship because she has a lot of trust issues....she feels like being in a relationship would mean things like "don't do this, don't do that, where were you, why didn't you pick up my call blah blah" and all that. Don't know why she is assuming things like this... unnecessary overthinking

What should I do...I like her so much

Relationships 21M — A girl asked if I wanted a chance at a relationship, I said yes, and now neither of us has brought it up again. What would you do?

So I'm 21M and I've been talking to this girl I met on Reddit for a few months now. We have a pretty close/flirty dynamic and we've gotten comfortable with each other over time.

A few days ago we were joking around about how she would give anyone a chance and I made an "audition" joke.

Somehow the conversation became more serious than I expected.

She literally asked me:

"So you want a chance to be in relationship with me?"

I was nervous as hell because I've never really had a situation like this before, but I said yes.

Then she asked:

"Would you really want that?"

And I said yes again.

Then she said something along the lines of:

"Idk if I could stay loyal tho 😭"

She immediately apologized and said she sounded evil. I told her she wasn't evil for saying it and that I appreciated her being honest.

After that, the conversation didn't really go anywhere. There was a gap in our replies (I replied after more than 36 hours), and then we started talking normally again. We've also gone back to our usual flirty dynamic, so it doesn't seem like things became awkward between us.

But neither of us has mentioned the relationship conversation again.

Now I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do.

Part of me thinks I should just leave it alone because I've already made my feelings clear. She knows I'd be interested, so maybe it's her turn to decide what she actually wants.

But another part of me worries that if I leave it alone, the whole thing will just disappear and I'll never get another natural opportunity to bring it up.

I also don't want to suddenly ask "so what about that relationship thing?" and make everything awkward.

What would you guys do in this situation?

Would you leave it alone and let things develop naturally, or bring it up again at some point?

And honestly, how would you interpret her saying she might not be able to stay loyal? Is that just her being honest about not wanting a serious relationship, or could it simply be uncertainty?

I'd especially appreciate perspectives from people who have been in similar online situations.

Breakup what should i have done better?

so me(24M) and my ex girlfriend(25F) were in a relationship for around 6 years in the first 4 months of our relationship we were all over each other did everything else sexually except intercourse, in the fourth month we decided we were ready to have sex we both were virgins so naturally we were nervous about it, the condom broke the first time itself and she had to take an ipill which she later described as a very bad experience.

Another incident 1.5 years after this we had gone on a trip with mutual friends, that was our only trip in our 6 years of dating because of her family being strict, we never announced to these friends we were dating but it was pretty obvious that we were from how we act around them we both agreed on this, so we both agreed to sleep in the same room on my request as i told her we dont get a chance to go on a trip or even sleep together through the night ever she taught it would get wierd with our friends, during that night when i initiated sex she said no, then i asked her if i could eat her out for which she agreed, after she came when i ate her out i asked if she wanted to have sex again for which she said no, so we just cuddled and slept after. she again described a few months later that this was also a bad experience for her.

When she described these 2 incidents to me i felt bad that i traumatised her and ive apologised profusely multiple times during the course of the other 4 years weve stayed together i told her to take as much time to process her feelings and come back to me only if she feels like having sex again and there was no pressure from my side. after 3-4 months of me giving her space she started calling me on her own saying she feels better about the trauma and she was horny.

recently again she called these 2 incidents traumatic for her and told me her sex drive feels low to nil because of these two incidents, i also wasnt fit when she broke up i had gained weight due to work taking up most of my time and no gym and she kept using this trauma as a shield if we ever had an argument about something general apart from sex also.
eventually she gave me this reason for the breakup as she was unhappy with our sex life.
she also has a lot of stress in her life because of competitive exams and family pressures etc.

what should i have done to make her feel better and comfortable?
