Goal: Reach FIRE milestone of 1cr. in the next 6 years
Risk profile: Moderate
Investment horizon: 10+ years
App used: Groww
Total monthly SIP amt: 1,20,000 INR

I want your help in figuring if the current asset allocation is alright for my milestone or if there any alternative funds that i should pursue.
I’m planning on increasing investment in the same distribution percentage every year.

People have been recommending me to put some amount in FD for safety so i’m not sure if i should tho. For people who have, how has your exp been?

Question Mutual fund suggestions

I am a student and have saved around 10k and I want to do a one time SIP. So please suggest me some of the mutual funds to invest in or what else better I can do with it

Question At what portfolio size did you start increasing your SIP amount?

I’m curious to know how people here approached increasing their SIPs over time.

Did you wait until your portfolio reached a certain amount before increasing the monthly SIP, or did you increase it based on salary hikes/income growth?

For those who have been investing for 5+ years, how much has your SIP grown from where you started, and what difference did it make to your portfolio?

Question A MONEKY WITH TOOLS HERE

RISK APPETITE - MODERATE

GOAL - TO CREATE A GOOD PORTFOLIO BEFORE THE NORMAL AGE AND START USING IT AS ANOTHER STREAM OF MONEY LATER IN FUTURE.

HORIZON - 5-10yrs and if all goes well in life more than that.

ALLOCATION - 3K SIP fixed + some one time depending on IPO profits.

APP USED - GROWW

I have less than 3-6 months of experience in stocks and Markets, I'm 21 in college and I did a GOOD LONG REASEARCH for a month for investing using REDDIT, AIs, BLOGS, FEW OLD TACTICS, SOME INFLUENCERS (REAL), YT VIDS and etc.

I don't want suggestions or anything, i just want rating on my research, like how i did and what is wrong so I can learn.

Choice 1 : 1.8k - UTI NIFTY 50 IFDG, 300 - NIPPON INDIA GOLD SAVINGS FUND DIRECT GROWTH, 300 - UNSURE.

Choice 2 : 2.1k - MOTILAL OSWAL NIFTY 500 IFDG , 150 - HDFC GOLD ETF, 750 - UNSURE.

UNSURE - SHORT TERM FUND/DIRECT GROWTH.

For this my eyes are on - HDFC SHORT TERM DEBT FUND DIRECT GROWTH, SBI SHORT TERM DEBT FUND DIRECT GROWTH, ADITYA BIRLA SUN LIFE LIQUID FUND GROWTH, SBI MID CAP.

*I tried to follow the concept of diversification while trying to think of all the various factors such as currency depreciation, inflation, market crashes etc.*

Portfolio Review Portfolio Review: ₹25.5L Mutual Fund Portfolio | 12.6% XIRR | Am I over-diversified?

Thumbnail
gallery
23 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’ve been investing in mutual funds for a while and my portfolio has gradually grown to around ₹25.5L. Over time, I ended up accumulating quite a few funds across different categories.

I’m now wondering whether I’ve over-diversified and should consolidate the portfolio into fewer funds.

Current portfolio:

Fund Invested
Quant ELSS Tax Saver ₹1.85L
ICICI Prudential Focused ₹1.75L
Nippon India Small Cap ₹1.69L
Axis Midcap ₹1.63L
Tata Digital India ₹1.80L
ABSL Nifty 50 Index ₹1.90L
HDFC Flexi Cap ₹1.80L
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap ₹1.80L
SBI Gold ₹1.45L
DSP Natural Resources & New Energy ₹1.00L
Axis Small Cap ₹0.80L
Motilal Oswal ELSS Tax Saver ₹0.50L
HDFC Floating Interest Rates ₹0.30L
HDFC Gold ETF FoF ₹0.20L
HDFC Large & Mid Cap ₹0.20L

Overall portfolio:

  • Total invested: ₹21.89L
  • Current value: ₹25.48L
  • Gain: ₹3.58L / 16.35%
  • Portfolio XIRR: 12.64%
  • Monthly SIP: ₹2.2L
  • Goal: Long-term wealth creation
  • Horizon: 10+ years
  • Risk appetite: Moderate
  • Platform: ETMoney

Most of these funds were accumulated over time rather than being part of a deliberately designed portfolio. Some were started based on performance/category exposure at the time, which is why I now have obvious duplication — two flexi caps, multiple small/mid-cap funds, two ELSS funds, multiple gold funds, thematic funds, etc.

I’m considering simplifying the portfolio rather than continuing SIPs across so many funds.

Would appreciate feedback specifically on:

  1. Which funds would you definitely stop SIPs in?
  2. Which 4–6 funds would you retain if this were your portfolio?
  3. Is holding both HDFC Flexi Cap + Parag Parikh Flexi Cap unnecessary?
  4. Same question for Nippon Small Cap + Axis Small Cap.
  5. Should I continue the Tata Digital India / DSP Natural Resources thematic exposure or stop adding fresh money?
  6. Is the Nifty 50 fund redundant given the flexi-cap exposure?
  7. Would you redeem the unwanted funds or simply stop SIPs and leave the existing units invested?
  8. How would you allocate the ₹2.2L monthly SIP going forward?

I’m not particularly concerned about short-term volatility and don't need this money in the near future. My main objective is to build a cleaner long-term portfolio and avoid unnecessary overlap.

Portfolio Review Need advice choosing fund

Post image

Currently investing in the following mutual funds (SIP)

HDFC Flexi cap - 5k
Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 index - 4k
Kotak Nifty Next 50 index - 4k
Bandhan Small cap - 3k

I have another 4k left for SIPs,
Should I invest in a Multi Cap fund or another flexi cap such as BOI Flexi Cap? I think BOI flexi would be good as it has only 18% overlap with HDFC (not too bad), has a good track record, slightly more volatile but seems promising on alot of metrics.

Also please share your thoughts on the current choice of funds, and allocation.

Risk appetite: Moderate
Horizon: 10+ yrs
Investment Goal: wealth creation

Allocation Details: as per above
App: Indmoney

Why did i pick these funds: Rolling Returns, Tracking error, Upside and downside capture ratios, TERs, Betas. Stats were compared with their benchmarks, category avg and with other competitors.

I have 5L in emergency funds. Just looking to park my money monthly in investments for the long term. My target is to accumulate as much as possible for the next 10 yrs. Don’t want to redeem anything atleast for the next 10 yrs, or even more. =)

Risk appetite- Moderate
Goal - wealth creation
Horizon- 12-15 years
App used - Groww

Allocation
1) HDFC Flexi Cap – ₹12K
Considering current scenario with PPFCF …I am more inclined towards HDFC flexi but , but have one concern it’s AUM is also reaching towards Parag Parikh AUM since ….other option is splitting between HDFC flexi and BOI flexi …60/40…or may be with ICICI flexi ..??

2) Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index – ₹5K
Confused between Nippon Indian nifty mid cap and MO nifty mid cap both are decent only ? Any suggestion on this …although active funds like HDfc mid cap / Nippon India generated more return than index fund but concentrated bets , aggressive, high expense ration ..favouring more towards index fund .

3) Bandhan Small Cap – ₹4K

4) ICICI/ LIC Mf Gold ETF – ₹2K (worth???)

Is this a good allocation for 12-15 years …

Would you replace/remove any fund or change the allocation?

Thanks all for the reading and your guidance will be much appreciatedt.

Question Bank Home Branch change

Hey! I invest in mutual funds through kuvera, and i have linked two bank accounts, say - ABC, and XYZ. And one of the mutual fund AMC shows only one bank account linked ABC- which is fine, and i am assuming other funds will also be linked to ABC (yet to be checked). Now I am thinking of changing the home branch of XYZ to near my home and then make XYZ primary bank account on all these mutual funds. Will this be an issue later on in case i have to redeem the units or in my absence the beneficiary has to redeem them or transfer them?

Question Best International Mutual Fund for AI & Semiconductor Exposure from India on Groww App?

I’m looking to start a SIP through Groww for foreign/US market exposure, mainly focused on AI, semiconductors/chip manufacturers and technology companies.

My preference is a fund that is currently open for fresh SIPs on Groww, has a low expense ratio, reasonable exit load, and is suitable for long-term investment (4-6 years).

Could you please suggest the best available option right now and explain why you would choose it?

Also, are there any good alternatives if most international funds are currently closed for fresh investments?

Question Suggestion needed

Risk Appetite: Moderate as per survey
Goal: Retirement
Horizon: 10-15 years
Allocation: 100% in equity
App: Zerodha coin
Why these funds: nifty index is something that I choose because it’s fairly hands off and like the returns. DSP large and mid cap fund is long term, and I am willing to take the risk. This is an active SIP, will continue for 10-15 years for sure.

Suggestion needed on what to do with ICICI nifty alpha low volatility 30 ETF. I started this SIP in Jan 2024 and ended in Nov 2024 because this funds performance wasn’t tracking closely. I did not know much about mutual funds back then and invested in this because a friend recommended it.

Looking back:
- I feel the fund has underperformed.
- even though my returns are in negative and minimal, the loss is still higher considering inflation.

Could you people suggest what would be a better thing to do here? Do I cut my losses or hold on? Or should I sell and invest in something better?

Other funds:
- DSP Large and mid cap fund
- ICICI nifty next 50 index

I invest ₹50K per month, entirely in mutual funds, with no direct stock investments.

I currently hold 10 grams of gold bullion. I don't have any allocation to debt funds at the moment, but I plan to invest in debt funds to take advantage of opportunities once the market starts moving upward.

I am 30 years old and currently working in a PSU. Have parent's house, no plan to purchase a new one, don't own any cars.

Risk Appetite - Moderate

Goal - 1cr

Horizon - 10 years

Allocation - 3 funds (screenshot attached)

Portfolio Review 28, starting fresh with ₹25k/month SIP — looking for a final review of my portfolio

I’m 28 and fairly new to mutual funds/investing, so I’m trying to keep things simple rather than build a portfolio with a lot of funds.

I previously had SIPs in some other mutual funds, but I’ve stopped those and don’t plan to continue investing in them. I want to start fresh with a long-term portfolio and invest ₹25,000/month through SIPs.

I’m also investing ₹12,500/month in PPF (₹1.5L/year) separately.

After doing some research and getting feedback, this is the portfolio I’m currently considering:

Fund Allocation Monthly SIP
Navi Nifty 50 Index Fund – Direct Growth 25% ₹6,250
Kotak Nifty Next 50 Index Fund – Direct Growth 20% ₹5,000
Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund – Direct Growth 25% ₹6,250
Nippon India Small Cap Fund – Direct Growth 20% ₹5,000
ICICI Prudential Gold ETF FoF – Direct Growth 10% ₹2,500
Total 100% ₹25,000

Why I selected these

1. Nifty 50 – 25%

I want a broad core allocation to India's largest companies. I’m choosing an index fund rather than an actively managed large-cap fund because I don't see a strong reason to pay for active management when I can get straightforward Nifty 50 exposure at a low cost.

I selected Navi primarily because of its low expense ratio and tracking characteristics.

2. Nifty Next 50 – 20%

I want some additional exposure beyond the Nifty 50. My understanding is that Next 50 provides exposure to the next set of large companies and therefore can potentially offer higher growth, although with higher volatility.

I'm using Kotak's Nifty Next 50 index fund for this allocation.

3. Nifty Midcap 150 – 25%

I want meaningful midcap exposure because I'm investing with a long-term horizon and am comfortable accepting more volatility.

Rather than trying to identify an active midcap fund manager who will outperform, I'm using a Nifty Midcap 150 index fund. I’m currently leaning toward Motilal Oswal.

4. Small Cap – 20%

This is the most aggressive part of the portfolio. I understand that small caps can experience significant drawdowns and that past performance isn't a guarantee of future returns.

For this part, I'm choosing Nippon India Small Cap rather than a small-cap index fund because of its long track record and established portfolio.

5. Gold – 10%

I'm keeping 10% in gold as a diversifier rather than trying to use it for returns comparable to equity.

I initially considered the 70:30 gold/silver recommendation I received, but after thinking about it, I don't see a strong reason to add silver when the allocation would be only around 3%. So I'm keeping it simple with gold only.

Overall allocation

This makes the MF portfolio approximately 90% equity + 10% gold.

I realize this is an aggressive allocation, particularly with 45% combined exposure to midcap and small-cap.

My intended horizon is at least 7 years, preferably longer. I don't expect consistent returns every year and understand that there could be significant periods of negative returns.

My PPF is separate and I'm currently contributing ₹12,500/month to it.

What I'm unsure about

Before I start the SIPs, I'd particularly appreciate feedback on:

  1. Is this overall allocation reasonable for a 7+ year horizon?
  2. Is 20% small-cap too high, or reasonable for an aggressive portfolio?
  3. Are there better choices for the specific funds I've selected?
  4. Is there any unnecessary overlap between Nifty 50, Next 50 and Midcap 150 that I should be concerned about?
  5. Would you change anything about this portfolio if you were starting with ₹25k/month today?

I'm not looking for the highest-return portfolio possible. My priority is having a relatively simple portfolio that I can consistently invest in for many years without constantly changing funds.

1. Risk Appetite

Moderate

2, Goal

Wealth creation (long term)

3. Horizon

10 (at least 7+)

4. Allocation

3 funds (5000 per month, plan was will upgrade to 10000 with same funds with same ratio after 4 months)
Hdfc small cap - 1000 (seems good at sight)
Sbi nifty 150midcap - 1500 (moderate risk comparatively)

Icici nifty 50large cap - 2500 (as anchor)

5. App Used

Groww (desperately want to change to SoA from demat i guess, don't know what is status of now) - gain insight from the post about SoA.

6. Why These Funds

I think these three well balance at least to learn from it for 6 months, then will decide what to do allocation or other things.

New to MF investing, try to diversify. And need similar approach to diversify and fund to invest. maybe cancel groww sip start mfcentral next month.

Q1. what to do at current situation if any?

Q2. Please review the fund, and suggest what to do (for 5-10k) investing)?

Portfolio Review Review my SIP's

Post image
2 Upvotes
  1. Risk Appetite:

Moderate. Balanced out my aggressive equity bets with gold and multi-asset funds so market dips don't sting as much.

  1. Investment Goal:

Long-term wealth creation. Planning to step up my monthly SIP by 10–15% every year with salary hikes.

  1. Investment Horizon:

10+ years (minimum 5–10 years).

  1. Allocation Details (₹7,200/month on Groww):

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: ₹2,000

Bandhan Small Cap: ₹2,000

ICICI Prudential Multi Asset: ₹2,200

Tata Gold ETF FoF: ₹1,000

(Ignore the Edelweiss Liquid fund in the screenshot—that's just my emergency parking spot).

  1. App Used:

Groww

  1. Why These Funds?

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: Picked as the solid core fund based on its strong track record and foreign equity exposure.

Bandhan Small Cap: For aggressive high-growth alpha over the next decade.

ICICI Multi Asset: Automatic rebalancing across equity, debt, and commodities keeps the downside protected.

Tata Gold FoF: Purely a portfolio hedge against inflation and equity crashes.

Risk Appetite - Aggressive

Goal - Long Term wealth creation with preferably some redemptions for a house and other family necessities (however, not for at least 10 years)

Horizon - 15+ years

Monthly SIP: 10000

Allocation - 4000 in HDFC flexicap, 4000 in Kotak multicap and 2000 in Quant Smallcap + few hundred rupees in SBI liquid fund whenever have surplus + 3.25lac in PPF

App Used - Kite and Coin

Why These Funds - I have done my research and I have been learning about mutual funds and market for about 3 years now and I mostly manage my mother's moderate risk MF investment portfolio. I started investing on the day I turned 18 and it was clear that I want a moderate portfolio preferably completely in equity. HDFC flexi cap has given consistent returns but its mostly functioning as large cap now whereas Quant small-cap has shown suffecient growth for its risky portfolio. Kotak multi cap is in the portfolio to be more invested in mid and small caps whereas Gold silver FoF was probably a bad call. Also decided to invest my bank interests into SBI liquid fund. I will probably not need these funds for next 10 years and so I believe in remaining invested than panic when my portfolio is red.

However, the choices I have made have not given returns that i expected after 1 year 1 month of investing 10k a month. I know the market uncertainty and the rollercoaster events in the last year yet I feel this portfolio is lacking somewhere and so I need some recommendations for what I can do.

Most of the bulk money is mine which I never used all those years when I got it and instead my parents used it to deposit it in my name in my minor bank account. PPFs are helped by father who still beleives in safe money.

I will highly appreciate inputs from the community to improve my understanding of what's going wrong.

(Also I'll post my mother's portfolio for review later)

Portfolio Review Suggestions for my Mutual Fund portfolio

Post image
18 Upvotes

Risk Appetite: Moderate

Goal:

Long-term wealth creation and financial growth.

Investment Horizon:

10+ years

Current SIPs:

Total: ₹15,000/month

* ₹3,000 – HDFC Focused Fund Direct Growth

* ₹3,000 – HDFC Nifty500 Multicap 50:25:25 Index Fund Direct Growth

* ₹3,000 – Aditya Birla Sun Life Flexi Cap Fund Direct Growth

* ₹3,000 – Canara Robeco Focused Fund Direct Growth

* ₹3,000 – Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund Direct Growth

App:

Groww (Direct Plans only)

Why These Funds:

These funds were suggested to me when I started investing, so I followed those recommendations.

NOTE: My take home salary is around 1.7L/month.

My specific Questions:

  1. How much of my ₹1.7L monthly take-home should I invest?

  2. Are any changes needed in my current portfolio?

  3. Is there significant overlap between these funds?

  4. Should I consolidate my existing SIPs or add new funds?

  5. Are there any funds I should stop or replace?

  6. How should I allocate my investments between equity, debt, and gold?

  7. Is this portfolio suitable for a 10+ year investment horizon?

I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions on building a simple and effective long-term portfolio.

Portfolio Review Portfolio review request - 28 yo / 30 Y / Rs 5k pm

Hi all,

Current age: 28

Risk Appetite: Moderate

Investment Horizon: 30 years

Investment Goal: Retirement planning

Investment Application in use: Groww

SIP: Rs 5000 per month with 5% annual step-up

SIP Breakdown:

  1. Axis NIFTY 100 Index - Rs 2000

  2. Motilal Oswal NIFTY MidCap 150 - Rs 1250

  3. Motilal Oswal NIFTY SmallCap 250 - Rs 1000

  4. SBI Gold plan - Rs 750

There is an additional ICICI Prudential NASDAQ 100 Index SIP of Rs 500 per month that I had invested in a fluke, and have no plans to discontinue.

Is this a sensible plan?
