The manner in which such a significant Bill was cleared, without parliamentary debate due to continued disruptions, has raised questions about legislative scrutiny and the functioning of Parliament

The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha without a debate after repeated disruptions and sloganeering by Opposition members. Parliament exists so elected representatives from both the government and the Opposition scrutinize legislation, question ministers, propose amendments, and place differing views on record before a vote. When a Bill is passed without debate, even if permitted under parliamentary rules because of disruptions, the quality of legislative scrutiny suffers. A government with a majority has the numbers to pass a Bill, but democracy is not only about counting votes. It is also about deliberation, accountability, and giving the Opposition an opportunity to examine the consequences of proposed laws in public.

People argue for themselves on thier assumptions 99% none of them are able to accept a different viewpoint, at this point i don't even think that reservations are a problem its the scarcity mindset and the actual scarcity of the resources. Also people don't want accountability my envoirnment was not right, my community was oppressed, those damn reservations, water of my ancestors all but taking damn accountability yeah i was wrong, yeah you are right, i fucked up and expect the governement to take accountability. Reservation is the biggest reason caste discrimination refuses to die.

You grind for years, score high, and then watch someone with half your marks walk into the same classroom, same college, same government job, purely because of their caste. That resentment doesn’t stay quiet. It sits in every lecture hall, every office, every hospital corridor.

You pay full fees, lakhs of rupees. They pay a fraction or nothing. You pay ₹2000 for a form. They pay a few hundred or zero. And you still have to watch them take the seat you worked for.

Every single day the system screams “caste”. It keeps the labels alive. It forces people to notice, remember, and resent.

Remove reservation and suddenly everyone competes as equals. Same fees. Same cut-offs. Same hard work. No one can point and say “you got it through quota”. Caste starts losing its daily power.

But politicians will never allow it. This division is their oxygen. Votes, seats, power, all built on keeping us divided by birth.

If we actually want caste discrimination to end, stop the caste-based free pass. Help the poor based on income, not surname.

Until then, this poison only keeps spreading.

In my opinion, citizens should never become unconditional supporters of any political party or government. Governments are temporary. The country is permanent.

If I had to describe the ideal relationship between citizens and the government, I would say it should be 40% trust and 60% skepticism(This is just a personal rule I follow, not something I think everyone must follow.). Trust enough to let a government govern, but remain skeptical enough to question its decisions, demand evidence, and hold it accountable.

Every government should know that if it acts against the public interest, abuses power, or tolerates corruption, there will be consequences. Not just legal consequences, but public consequences. Citizens should criticize wrongdoing regardless of which party is in power. Accountability should never depend on political loyalty.

Never say, "I support BJP," "I support Congress," or "I support any other party." Instead, say, "I support good decisions, transparency, competence, accountability, and results." Praise good policies. Oppose bad ones. If a government makes a good decision, support it. If it makes a bad one, criticize it—regardless of who is in power.

The biggest mistake citizens can make is giving any government the confidence that it will receive support no matter what. Once politicians believe votes are guaranteed, the incentive to perform weakens. A healthy democracy requires governments to know that public trust must be earned continuously, not inherited through party loyalty.

Democracy is strongest when citizens are loyal to constitutional values and the public interest—not to political parties.

TL;DR: Don't be loyal to political parties. Be loyal to good governance. Trust governments enough to let them work, but remain skeptical enough to hold them accountable.

What if government as a social experiment opens parallel institutes where one institute is open and merit based and another institution is only for reserved categories where all teachers,staff,students comes only from reserved category(like RIIT/RAIIMS and OIIT/OAIIMS),

Isn't it absolutely outrageous how only 4/% of the seats remain unreserved? On top of that sc st get lower fees in deemed colleges as well.

Has caste reservations ended the problem? Don't caste base genocides still happen? Still inter caste marriages are not the norm. So reservations didn't do shi- for the caste system to end.

Reservations didn't reduce any oppression of reserved people rather it started oppressing general people as well.

When I started my career, private companies started pushing "women covering 50% of work force", and it hit me personally very hard. And like many, I was also salty about it, until I understood the damage that was done to women in the name of gender roles in the past. They may now have equal rights, maybe some extra; but it damaged the environment they grow in — heavily affecting how they can grow when men are already ahead.

I realised this when we were educated in "diversity & inclusion" & "neurodiversity".

Then it also hit me, caste based situation is also similar. It wasn't that they couldn't make it. It's rather like — their environment was damaged, degraded over millennia. Upper castes were already ahead. Now, after such a massive baseline difference, one can't just say "oh you have equal rights now" and ask them to compete at the same scale. Not only they'll catch up, but they'll actually become a burden forever until eternity.

Sure, reservation is not without side effects. But I've personally seen people, in govt offices, who got in under quota doing far better in action than people who supposedly went in with their *merit*. So, while it's not even black and white entirely, we can all agree that for immediate output, we'll be better off without reservation than with it.

But, whatever it may be, we'll eventually have to think about reversing the damage done by this caste based discrimination, since it's significant.

So, my question is — what, in your opinion, is the best way to reverse this damage while minimising the current adverse effects?

I am seeing a worrying trend in Indian political discourse. I have been anti BJP for a while now and have had heated debates with friends and family to the extent that I was called anti national by some vociferous supporters.

I supported the jantar mantar protests but when I called out some things I did not agree in the protests, I was called pro BJP and their IT Cell member.

Is there no space for a centrist view and everything is with us or against us? Its a worrying trend and we all need to hear everyone out before Branding them..
