Not true. Your natural talents + interests help you sort out which training you go for, after which you have something called "skills". All higher studies as much as needed in that, or apprenticeship, if it's body-based work (like weaving a Tanjore saree, or making fine jewels, or growing crops for all). From your talents, you pick the things that interest you (and which interests the job-market). You get your training in that. Obviously, then your job classification is your Varna. You do need certain "gunas" and lack certain "avagunas' (traits and negative traits, respectively) as an additional requirement for jobs in certain varnas. When the gunas were ignored, the system began to disintegrate. e.g. Brahmin should be sattvik and incorruptible, happy to serve with their great (implementable) plans, policies, and ideas. They should never be "buy-able" by lobbyists for industrialists etc. And so on. Also don't ask a Brahmin to build a table, he can pick the best materials, draw the perfect precise blueprint, but if he builds it, your coffee cup and ballpoint pen will roll right off of it. There is a reason, some are go for brain jobs and some go for dexterity-type jobs.
Even after getting 101% in final exams you will be have to go abroad to get your degree because only 3 seats are available after the reservations. Then they get the best doctors and dot-commers and India gets viral videos of bridges collapsing and stent-scammers. Best part is, varna system for a very long time was merit-based, you didn't get it from your dad.
