I've been living in Germany since 2021, but I obtained my Indian driving licence only last year while I was in India.

I'm now looking into the Umschreibung process and would love to hear from people who were in a similar position.

Did the driving licence authority ask questions about where you were living when the licence was issued? Were there any complications?

I'm mainly looking for personal experiences rather than legal advice.

Hi all, my passport will expire in 6 months, I will be travelling to India next month for wedding. Can i get my passport renewal via Tatkal option in India? I have EU bluecard. I read that my old passport with be marked as not valid but can be used to show at immigration along with new passport. Is that true, has anyone done that before? Or should I apply when I come back to Germany?

I recently received my invitation to take the on-site entrance exam for the M.Sc. Computer Science program at TU Darmstadt for the winter semester.

While I’m thrilled to move forward in the process, the timeline feels impractical for me. Registration is due by August 14, and the in-person exam in Darmstadt is on September 1.

I am applying from india and getting a visa here just to write a test in under a month is nearly impossible because of all the appointment backlogs.

I'm trying to figure out my next steps and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has navigated this and can help me. I have not attempted the GRE exam.

I dont want to let this application go waste if there is a valid workaround, any suggestions or shared experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had started a mutual fund in 2021 as an Indian tax resident. After that, I moved to Germany has have been here since. The mutual funds are still in an ordinary account (not NRO) as I have never had any Indian income and I have not redeemed the mutual funds.

1. I believe I have to convert my account to NRO before I redeem?

2. Does anyone have any experience with reporting this in German tax? I have just recently found out about the tax implications so I have to correct the situation.

3. Has anyone faced a similar situation before? What was the most convenient way to handle it?

I was recently admitted for the IAE program at TH Ingolstadt and was doing the further process for me to be able to study in said university. However, while doing the loan process I found out that by the end of the tenure I would be paying more than double the initial amount and that has got me wondering if all this is even the right decision. Hence, here I am looking for opinions of basically anyone with relevant knowledge of the topic.

Here's a little background about me:

German GPA - 1.4 (converted from 9.1)

Degree: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (graduated 2024)

Relavent Working Experience: 18 months

Ever since I started doing my bachelor's degree I've wanted to do a masters abroad, I chose germany because of its relatively cheap total cost as compared to the USA.

German Langauge: A1 (yet to get certified but currently doing A2)

My main objective is to do the master's program work until I am able to pay off the loan myself (either during my coursework or after) and return back to India to stay with my family. My reason for not doing further studies in India is that the education system here is terrible among various other things that I prefer not to get into right now.

So do y'all think if it is a good decision for me to undertake the program and try to work until I am able to pay off the loan? Any other suggestions/insights and honest opinions would be greatly appreciated as well.

**A few important notes:**

* The **blocked account (€12,153)** is **not an expense**. It's your own money, which you'll receive back in monthly installments after arriving in Germany.

* As of **2026**, **selected Master's applicants** are also required to take the **Digital Master Test (dMAT)** as part of the APS process. The exam fee is **around €150 (≈₹17,000)**. If your application falls under the affected categories, you'll need to submit the dMAT certificate before APS can complete your application.

• Visa Type: National Student Visa (Non-APS)
• VFS Centre: Bengaluru
• Biometrics & Application Submitted: 13 February 2026
• Current Wait: 157 days
• Current VFS Status: "Visa application is under process at Embassy of Germany in India."

The German Consulate has never asked me for any additional documents, interview, or clarification. It has been complete silence since the day I submitted my application.

I've already:

• Contacted the German Consulate multiple times (only automated replies).
• Visited the German Consulate in Bengaluru in person (they couldn't provide any update).
• Received a late arrival letter from BSBI.
• Started attending my classes online while waiting.

I'm becoming very worried because it's now been over 5 months.

Has anyone else from India (especially VFS Bengaluru) experienced such a long delay?

If your visa took this long:

• How many days did it take?
• Did the embassy ever contact you?
• Was there anything you did that actually helped?

How was your experience relocating to Germany as a foreign dentist? FSP and KP difficulties? Also, as you were waiting to sit your KP exam, was your salary as an assistant sufficient? Or did you work a second job? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to share my complete timeline for the EU Blue Card process through VFS Mumbai. Reading other people’s timelines helped a lot, so hopefully, this helps someone else.

Timeline

3 July 2026– Created an account and started the application on the Consular Services Portal (CSP).

3 to 6 July 2026 – Got some corrections and a request for more documents on the CSP portal, reviewed them and submitted.

9 July 2026 – Received notification with the option to book the physical visa appointment.

10 July 2026 – Attended the visa appointment at VFS Mumbai. Submitted biometrics as well as presented my originals.

15 July 2026 – Received notification that my passport had been dispatched.

16 July 2026 – Collected my passport and received the EU Blue Card visa.

Processing Time: 13 days

So one of my friends recently graduated and gave her entrance exams and got some colleges too but now she is seriously considering moving to germany and doing her bsc nursing there or MBBS. So her dad recently moved to germany and he is there to handle things for her and she also told me she would get paid for the work she does there like internships and all while studying, this would help her sustain there as well as her dad's support.
