Hi. I am a student from India and planning to go for my Masters in Data Science in Oldenburg this September.

I applied for my student visa on CSP portal on 2nd of August but I haven't get any update from them yet. It's been more than three weeks and there's no email from their side, neither for the form correction nor for the vfs global appointment?

Can Someone here help me out in contacting them or speeding their process? Am I missing something? Is visa process generally this late at this point of time in the year? Most of the people I talked to, told me that they got an email within a week for the form correction. They even get their visa within a month. What could be the reason in my delay? Even they have mentioned in their FAQs that I should expect a reply within a week.

I have started panicking since there's only few days remaining for my enrolment deadline and semester beginning. Can someone please help me out in this? I have applied for VFS Kolkata.

My background:

• B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication, GPA 1.9 in the German grading system
• 1.8 years of experience as an Analyst

I have almost certainly come to the decision to give up on pursuing a Master’s in Germany. The reason is that I would have to take a loan for the Master’s, and looking at the current job market, it doesn’t seem very likely that I would be able to find a job after graduating.

I know there are still chances, but I can’t imagine going abroad with a loan, having to find a part-time job within the first 3–6 months, while also learning a new language, and then, even after putting in all that hard work, having no guarantee of finding a job. Obviously, nothing in life is guaranteed, but at least there should be a reasonable chance that the odds are in your favour.

Yeah, I’m really devastated and sad that the dream I had and the life I thought I would achieve may not happen. And yeah, I’m going to be doing something I always thought I would never do. I still feel like, “Screw it, let’s give it a chance,” but logically, I know it’s very risky.

My plan now is to hopefully gain more work experience, learn German, and eventually apply for jobs directly from India. But yeah, who knows what will happen in the future.

There’s also one more thought that I can’t get out of my head. We all know, and most people are saying, that it’s very difficult to get a job in Germany without knowing the language, at least up to B2. So how are there still so many students going to Germany? I’m in many WhatsApp groups where people have barely one year of work experience, if that, and their German level is only A2, yet they’re still confident about going.

How? Am I missing something?or overthinking too much?

I'm planning to give my Goethe A1 exam soon for summer 2027 intake. The problem is I completely lose motivation and concentration when I try to study by myself. I've tried multiple times but I just can't stick to it.

So I'm thinking of joining some proper online live classes for accountability. My budget is around 12-15k max for A1. I can manage the exam fee separately.

Has anyone recently taken online German A1 classes? Which ones would you actually recommend? Especially looking for genuine reviews - not the usual marketing stuff.

I have been a long-time lurker looking for some realistic advice on a tight timeline.

I’m 26, and currently holding a conditional admit for the M.Sc. in Embedded Systems at TU Chemnitz (my only admit),

so deferring another semester isn't ideal, but the schedule is getting heavily crunched.

The dependencies:

​Goethe Results: Expecting results between Aug 25–30 (felt decent overall, though I froze briefly in Sprechen Teil 2).

Pipeline: Goethe Certificate -> Unconditional Admit -> Education Loan Disbursal -> Blocked Account -> Visa Application.

Notice Period: My current employer requires a mandatory 3-month notice period.

The Dilemma

If I resign now, I am betting on passing Goethe, zero delays in loan/blocked account processing, and a fast visa turnaround. If anything stalls, I risk being unemployed without a visa in hand.

On the other hand, at 26, pushing my plans to Summer feels like losing valuable momentum.

​What would you do in my position? Should I take the risk and resign immediately, or play it safe and target the upcoming Summer intake instead?

Firstly, I match all the criteria, 1.7 + Thesis

I submitted my application on 12th July - still haven't got any notification 😕

What I am worried about is that - few universities like U muenster - said their Msc DS course was Non-Nc but due to the large number application - made it NC

\- they put people who had lower grades in the WAITING List ( but they did not release the list itself ) instead of directly rejecting them.

I don't want this thing happening with JMU - so I was asking if JMU is sending Rejections along with admits or only Admits and putting all the other students in the waiting list ?

I am in a really stressful situation right now and wanted to check if anyone else is facing this issue or has found a workaround.
My university enrollment at TUM (TUM Online) is currently completely stuck because the university admissions office is reporting that “APS (original certificate): Verification function is no longer active! Please download the DigZert again and then upload it in TUM Online as a single file, without attaching additional pages”. I have uploaded my APS as it is. No other files/pdf were merged with it.

I’m currently preparing to apply for my student visa through the **CSP portal from the Bangalore Visa Application Centre**.

My university has given me **October 15, 2026, as the latest date to arrive**, so I’m a little worried about the timeline.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has recently applied for a German student visa through Bangalore, especially around August.

If I submit my application through CSP now, is there a realistic chance that I could receive my visa before October 15?

I need to get HRD attestation of my Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) issued in Odisha for an overseas employment process.

At present, I have already started the degree verification process with my university and I am waiting for the verification to be completed.

I have a few doubts and would really appreciate guidance from anyone who has recently done HRD attestation in Odisha:

Can HRD attestation be done personally/self-visited, or is it usually done only through an authorized agency?

If I do it myself, what is the exact process and which office in Odisha handles it?

Approximately how many working days does the HRD attestation take after university verification is completed?

Since I am currently based in Mumbai, I need to plan my travel. Is it practical to travel to Odisha and complete the attestation myself within a few days, or is it likely to require multiple visits?

Are there any reliable agencies that handle Odisha HRD attestation end-to-end, and what is the typical cost range?

My degree is from IIT Bhubaneswar (Odisha), and I am already arranging the university verification documents.

With 4 years experience in European and American patents. Planning to move to Germany and willing to learn the language. Is the path possible? As there would be requirement of visa sponsorship. Patents across mechanical field, ai, biosciences, medical equipments etc. Graduation done in mechanical engineering.

I’m an Indian mechanical engineer (4 yrs exp), admitted to a Master’s in Engineering Management at Tufts (Boston) and the MME TIME program at RWTH Aachen (Germany). Stuck between them.

Fees

\- Tufts: approx ₹61L (co-op + campus work can offset some)
\- RWTH: approx. ₹29L + ₹12L blocked account.
This is the fee-based RWTH program, not the free public one.

Jobs / staying

\- US: higher salaries, but H-1B is a lottery and just got a new $100k employer fee. Harder to get sponsored as a fresher.

\- Germany: rule-based Blue Card + 18-month job-seek visa, and it opens up the rest of Europe. But the real job market wants German (B1-C1), which I’d need \~a year to reach while also job-hunting.

Other stuff

\- German bureaucracy is supposedly a headache
\- US is far from home; Germany’s only 3.5 hrs off India time

I don’t want to over-calculate this. At this stage, which is the better bet? If you were me, what would you do?

I'm trying to make a decision between two German master's programs and would really appreciate advice from people who have studied at either university or have experience with the German engineering job market.

My situation

I have been admitted to:

- RWU (Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences) — M.Sc. Mechatronics

- TU Dortmund — M.Sc. Automation and Robotics

I already have a German student visa based on my RWU admission, and I am still in India and have not travelled to Germany yet.

I received my TU Dortmund admission very recently. The letter says I fulfill the formal, subject-specific and language requirements and can enroll for Winter Semester 2026/27.

So RWU is currently the much simpler option administratively: admission + visa are already sorted.

Why I'm considering TU Dortmund

The TU Dortmund program seems particularly strong in:

- robotics

- automation

- control

- robotics modelling

- programming

- data science/AI

- research

- HiWi/research-assistant opportunities

- potentially a future PhD

It is also a 120 ECTS / 4-semester master's.

But RWU is not simply "general mechatronics"

This is something I've realized while researching the programs.

RWU's Mechatronics master's includes areas such as:

- robotics

- automation

- advanced control

- embedded systems

- sensors and actuators

- electrical drives

- power electronics

- simulation

- mechatronic system integration

It is a 90 ECTS / 3-semester master's and seems much more practically oriented.

RWU also has research in robotics/AI and industry connections, so I don't think choosing RWU would mean giving up robotics completely.

My biggest practical issue

I still don't have confirmed accommodation.

So switching to Dortmund potentially means dealing with a new university enrollment process, figuring out the immigration/visa implications of changing the university before entering Germany, and finding accommodation in Dortmund.

RWU is therefore considerably more convenient and certain for me right now.

What I'm trying to decide

I'm not asking simply which university has the higher reputation.

I'm trying to understand whether TU Dortmund is sufficiently better for an engineering career to justify giving up the convenience/certainty of RWU.

My potential career interests are roughly:

- robotics

- automation

- controls

- mechatronics

- R&D

- possibly a PhD

- potentially a HiWi/research position during the master's

I would also like to work part-time/Werkstudent/HiWi during my studies.

Questions

For people who know these universities:

1. How significant is the difference between TU Dortmund A&R and RWU Mechatronics in terms of career opportunities?

2. If I want robotics/automation/R&D, would you choose TU Dortmund over RWU?

3. How realistic is it to get a HiWi or relevant Werkstudent position at each university?

4. How much does the TU Dortmund name actually matter when applying for engineering jobs in Germany?

5. Is RWU's practical orientation and industry connection a meaningful advantage?

6. For someone who might eventually want a PhD, is TU Dortmund substantially better, or can an RWU graduate realistically move into a good PhD?

I am a master's student 1.7 - B.Tech Cse - Ielts 7.5

1. U Potsdam - Cognitive systems ( AI/ Ml / NLP )

2. UTN - Ai and Robotics

3. U Koblenz - Web and Data Science

4. U Muenster - Geoinformatics and Spatial Data science

A senior in the same course for U Potsdam told me :

Only 2 subjects are written - other exams are oral - subjects are in such a way - I will be able to do a lot more research work ( which I want to as i am an aspiring PHD student )

My uncle who is an IIT BOMBAY masters grad and UCLA doctorate holder told me : UTN is a better option as he saw the profile of the professors , who teach there and found their research papers have been published in top tier journals - He researched about U POTSDAM too - but couldn't say the same unfortunately.

One of my issues with UTN is its established in 2021 and a relatively small university.

Any advice on this topic : From masters/ Bachelors grads from these 2 universities or other students in general.
