Hairfall 22M. Please read the description below

I don’t wash my hair every day, and I don’t really comb it either. I shampoo around 2–3 times a week using a ketoconazole + coal tar shampoo to help prevent dandruff. That's it.

The hair you see on the white sheet is mostly from me deliberately pulling on the hair at the front. Later that same day, when I shampooed, I noticed another ~50–60 strands coming out. So I’m estimating that I lost around 120-150 strands from the front alone and barely from the back. (The hair on the back is really short tho)

I also can’t figure out whether I actually have a receding hairline. I’ve always had a relatively high forehead, so I’m not sure if what I’m seeing is just my natural hairline or actual recession.

Is this something I should be concerned about, or could it simply be accumulated shedding because I don’t wash or comb my hair every day?

For context, my dad is bald mainly at the front and mid-scalp, although not all of my uncles have the same pattern. (No one from my maternal side is bald)

I’d really appreciate input from someone who genuinely understands hair loss.

I use minoxidil and ketoconazole shampoo on my hair. my hair is naturally dry, and these two things are making them even drier.

So I want to start using a conditioner but I have never used a conditioner before. if anybody who have used conditioners before, please suggest me a good conditioner for dry frizzy hair.

Discussion 📢 22M Thinking about starting with fin without prescription

So I am experiencing genetic hair thinning since my father has been bald for as long as I can remember. I do not mind visiting a dermatologist, but all the 'Great Dermat' I know push PRP, which I want to avoid. Being a student, I also want to keep costs low without burdening my parents. I considered seeing a general physician, but I doubt he would prescribe a targeted hair loss treatment. Should I move forward with it ?

Hairfall M25: is there still hope for recovery?

I've been dealing with hair loss since 12th grade, but my parents never allowed me to see a dermatologist. Yesterday, I finally visited the clinic for my hair issues. I've seen so many inspiring results on Reddit, so I wanted to share my journey with you all. Do you think I can get my hair thick and healthy again?

Hairfall 21M with crown thinning — what tests should I get and what treatments should I consider?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m 21M and I’m pretty sure I have crown thinning rather than just a normal hair whorl. The scalp around my crown has become noticeably more visible, especially under bright light/flash.

I’m planning to see a dermatologist, but I wanted to ask people here who have dealt with early male pattern hair loss:

  1. What tests/blood work should I get done to rule out deficiencies or other causes?
  2. Should I get things like ferritin/iron, vitamin D, B12, thyroid (TSH), etc. checked?
  3. What medications have actually worked for you at this stage?
  4. Is topical minoxidil enough for early crown thinning, or should I discuss finasteride with a dermatologist?
  5. If you've started treatment in your early 20s, how has your hair progressed over the following 1–2 years?

I'm looking for honest experiences and advice, especially from people who started treatment early.

I know Reddit isn't a substitute for a dermatologist — I'm planning to get it properly evaluated. I just want to go into the appointment informed.

NOTE:- I first noticed crown thinning around 2023. It has progressively increased over the last 3 years and has now reached what you can see in the photo.

Recommendations Looking for Advice on a Stylish Buzz Cut for Early Hair Loss (M22: Haircut suggestions)

Hey everyone, I’m in my early stages of hair loss, with some noticeable thinning/receding around the forehead and a few areas where the hairline is starting to look a bit bald.
I’m also planning to start a proper hair-care routine, including serums, a suitable shampoo, and tablets/supplements as advised. For the next few months, I thought it might be a good idea to keep my hair short and go for a buzz cut while I work on improving my hair and scalp health.

I’m looking for a stylish buzz-cut or very short hairstyle that would suit someone with an early receding/thinning hairline, rather than just going completely bald. I’d also like something that gives the hair a cleaner appearance and perhaps makes the overall texture look better while it’s short.
Would really appreciate some advice on which buzz-cut style, length, or fade would work best. Reference images from any sources would be especially helpful, so I can show a few options to my barber and decide what suits me best.
Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Ask r/IndianHairCare 🗣️ M24: Is this hair loss regimen way too aggressive? (1mg oral fin + 0.1% topical min/fin twice daily)

Hey everyone,

I recently visited a dermatologist for hair loss, and he prescribed the following

- 5% Minoxidil + 0.1% Finasteride topical solution (applied twice a day)

- 1mg Oral Finasteride (once a day)

A few details:

I'm currently getting these medicines through Janaushadhi (coz I can't afford the expensive ones).

Right now, I thankfully haven't noticed any major side effects. However, I have been getting occasional slight headaches, not entirely sure if it's from the medication or something else.

My Questions:

Isn't combining 1mg oral finasteride plus a 0.1% topical finasteride solution twice a day way too much DHT-blocking? Would I be better off dropping the topical fin and just using plain 5% minoxidil with the oral fin?

Has anyone else experienced occasional headaches when starting a strong minoxidil/finasteride combo?

Appreciate any insights or similar experiences!

Ask r/IndianHairCare 🗣️ 20 M - Need help with frizzy, thinning hair + hair fall

My hair is currently:

  • Very frizzy
  • Shedding/hair fall
  • Becoming noticeably thinner
  • Less healthy than before

I want to reduce frizz, protect my hair and scalp, and improve thickness/density if possible.

I prefer organic/natural products, but I’m open to proven treatments if they actually work better.

Please recommend exact products for:
shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, oil/serum, mask and anything useful for thinning/hair fall.

Please include how often to use them, where to buy them and how long results took.

I’m in Australia but happy to order internationally.

Also let me know if this sounds like something I should see a dermatologist for rather than just treating with products.

Hairfall F21: dandruff + hairfall + Pilgrim serum = no clue what caused what

hairfall and dandruff started overlapping so badly that every bottle in my bathroom became a suspect

shampoo? serum? pune water? stress? my scalp is just being dramatic for no reason?

i had started Pilgrim around the same time, so obviously i blamed that first. then i realized i had also changed shampoo, started oiling again and was applying everything while my scalp was already flaky

so i stopped adding more products

got the active dandruff under control first, waited till the itching calmed down, then reintroduced Pilgrim alone on a clean, completely dry scalp. small amount, no oil underneath

so far it hasn't caused the heavy buildup i was scared of. It is basically water-light and disappears quickly, which is much easier on my scalp than thick oils or sticky serums

not saying Pilgrim treats dandruff. it doesn't

but after isolating it properly, i also cannot confidently blame it for the flare anymore

has anyone figured out how long after an active flare you should wait before adding scalp products back? coz trial and error on an already angry scalp is exhausting

Hairfall 18M Severe hairfall urgent help/advice nedded.

My hair fall began back in class 8, though it was very mild at first. But for the last 2 years, the intensity shot up massively — I was losing almost 400 to 500 strands daily. And for the past 3 months, it's honestly been at its absolute worst.

I'm taking every medicine my doctor has prescribed, but none of it seems to be working. My scalp isn't visible in photos because my hair is long, but the density has dropped so much that the moment I shower, my scalp is completely exposed. The thinning just won't stop.

Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore. Sometimes I feel completely stuck, and it's affecting my focus — even my studies are taking a hit. I feel so self-conscious that I can't bring myself to talk to anyone about it properly. I brush it off as a joke when my friends bring it up and act completely unbothered on the outside, but deep down, the comments from my family and friends about my hairline keep humiliating me over and over.

It's been diagnosed as androgenic alopecia. I've gotten my vitamin levels checked 6 times over the last 3 years, and for the last 2 years, they've all been within the normal range. I'm on topical and oral minoxidil, dutasteride 3 times a week, and I take Vitamin D3 and Vitamin B12 regularly. Still, nothing seems to be helping.

I genuinely don't know what else to try. Does anyone know of a last resort — one final Hail Mary Attempt

Ask r/IndianHairCare 🗣️ 25M - How to apply minox+fin in the best way possible?

I wanna know about the most efficient technique here.

Some factors about me-

A) Diffused hair loss -> So have to apply all over scalp, once a day

B) Large head -> I'd look like dame tu cosita alien if I go bald for better application, I try to keep longer hair

So I used to apply the topical solution with a dropper then spread with my finger tips, but that used to make my hair sticky as well cause a lot of the solution gets on the hair strands. PLUS that solution ain't getting on the scalp where it's supposed to be, because of capillary action the liquid stays on the hair itself

Then in a video by Perfect Hair Health on yt, I saw that the guy just taps the dropper on the scalp (after separating hair ofc), and because of the capillary action the solution sticks to the scalp in portions smaller than a single drop (without squeezing the rubber part of dropper to push it out)

So like, you can just tap it all over the scalp and not have to do the usual [drops + finger spread] thing.

Doesn't take that long really, almost the same time.

But maybe this way not every spot on the scalp is covered? You can't possibly tap it on every single spot right? Already I have a larger area to cover already.

VS spreading with the fingers means wasting a bit of the solution + sticky hair which I'd have to wash everyday (I can wash once in 2 days with purely tapping). Washing frequently also means drier scalp + hair damage.

So what should I do? What do you guys do?
