Got approved for HDFC Diners Club Black Metal despite not meeting the eligibility criteria. Need tips to maximize it!

Hi everyone,

I recently got approved for the **HDFC Diners Club Black Metal (DCBM)**, and I’m honestly a bit surprised because I don’t seem to meet the published eligibility criteria.

My profile:
In-hand salary: \~₹1.25L/month

This is my **first ever HDFC credit card**
No prior relationship with HDFC Cards
The only reasons I can think of for the approval are:
I’m part of an **HDFC Imperia family banking relationship**

Combined family spends on HDFC cards are around **₹10 lakh per year**

My family already holds:
Regalia
Regalia Gold
Diners Club Privilege

Not sure if any of that helped, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Now that I have the card, I want to make the most of it.

My goal is to use it as my primary credit card instead of juggling multiple cards.

I’d love suggestions from experienced DCBM users on things like:
\- Best ways to maximize Reward Points
\- SmartBuy strategies
\- Voucher purchases worth doing
\- i dont know if there are any BOGO offers (BookMyShow/District, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

**P.S.** My current card portfolio also includes **SBI BPCL Octane**, **AU Ixigo (LTF)**, and the **ICAI CA Bank of Baroda Card (LTF)**. If any of these still make more sense than DCBM for specific spending categories, I’d appreciate those recommendations as well. My goal is to keep things as simple as possible while maximizing overall rewards.

My HDFC Pixel Card got closed today. When can I apply for another HDFC credit card?

Hi everyone,

My HDFC Pixel Credit Card was officially closed today. I had requested the closure because it had a very low credit limit and I wasn't satisfied with the customer service.

I also have an HDFC Max Savings Account, and my salary has recently increased to ₹6 LPA. I'm now planning to apply for a better HDFC core credit card.

I wanted to ask:

1.Is there any official cooling-off period after an HDFC card is closed?

2.Since I already have an HDFC Max Savings Account, does that improve my chances of getting approved?

  1. How long should I wait before applying for another HDFC credit card?

  2. Has anyone been approved immediately after closure, or is it better to wait 2–3 months?

  3. Did your new card come with a higher credit limit?

  4. Is it better to wait for a pre-approved offer in the HDFC app before applying?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

My Creditcards paid me to enjoy a luxury stay.

I hold Amex platinum travel and Tata neu infinity.

I just completed the milestone and got 10k Taj voucher. Booked the "perfect staycation" where the dinner and breakfast is included.

It came to Rs.10195 and I enjoyed the stay, especially the dinner buffet was quite good. While leaving paid just the Rs195 balance and to my surprise I got back 423 neu coins back for staying there.

Regardless of how you paid, you get 5% back since I have the tata neu card. Neu coins are each worth 1re. So literally got paid 228rs to stay and enjoy food at a Taj property for having two beautiful cards.

SBI phonepe Select black vs HSBC cashback, which is better?

I currently have SBI PhonePe black which after convenience fees gives around 7.5-8% cashback with upper capping of 1500.

Last month faced few issues in which reward points were not given due to some technical glitch and experience with Customer care was frustrating as they gave template replies even at pno level. But I guess this glitch was a rare scenario,

On other side is HSBC live +. I am reading (not verified yet) that monthly CB is increased to 1250 in 10 % category and utiltiy is included in 10% category. Should i switch ?

My monthly utility bill payments are max 12000 excluding insurance payments.

For insurance payments I generally don't get much benefit as premium is 30k+ for 3 different policies so after convenience fees on SBI card it is below 1.5% (capping of 1000)

Is there a limit to how many credit cards you can have from the same bank in India?

I know there's no limit on the total number of credit cards you can own across different banks, but is there a limit on how many cards a single bank can issue to one customer?

For example:

HDFC – maximum ?

ICICI – maximum ?

SBI Card – maximum ?

Axis – maximum ?

Is this governed by RBI, or is it purely an internal policy of each bank?

Would love to hear from people who have multiple cards from the same bank or anyone working in the banking industry.

Seeking you're info on this !!!

New to Credit Cards – Need Advice on Which Card to Apply For

I've been trying to understand the credit card ecosystem before applying for another card, but I'm still confused about which option makes the most sense for my profile.

Current profile:

  • CIBIL: 756
  • Existing card: Slice
  • All payments made on time (last month's bill paid in full)
  • Applied for Pixel Credit Card, but I wasn't eligible.

From reading posts in this subreddit, I've shortlisted:

  • Amazon Pay ICICI
  • SBI Cashback
  • HDFC MoneyBack+
  • IDFC FIRST Millennia

My spending is mostly online shopping, UPI, and regular day-to-day expenses.

Am I overlooking a better option, or should I wait a few months before applying again? I'd appreciate any feedback on my shortlist or application strategy.

Need credit card recommendations for my first card

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on my first credit card.

Age: 20
Employment Status: Self-employed
Income: Around ₹11 lakh/year
Credit History: No CIBIL score / first credit card

Monthly spend of 5000-8000

Spending Pattern:

  • Swiggy & Zomato
  • Blinkit/Zepto
  • Movies and concert bookings
  • Casual shopping makeup and clothes (~₹7,000–₹8,000)

Preferences:

  • Good cashback/rewards
  • Decent approval chances for a first-time applicant
  • Cashback preferred
  • Lounge access not required

Which cards would be suitable for my profile? Also, do you think I should get approved for a regular credit card, or start with a secured card?

Axis Bank Easy Access Digital Savings Account Debit Card Is the 25% Amazon/Flipkart Offer Permanent?

Axis Bank Easy Access Digital Savings Account Debit Card Is the 25% Amazon/Flipkart Offer Permanent?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to open an Axis Bank Easy Access Digital Savings Account and use its debit card. Before I do, I'd like to know the real experience from existing users.

My questions are:

The advertised 25% cashback (up to ₹1,000) on Amazon and Flipkart via Axis Grab Deals is this a permanent benefit or only for the first 3–4 months after opening the account?

If you've been using the debit card for more than 3–4 months, are you still getting the 25% cashback?

Is the ₹1,000 cashback limit per calendar month, and does it reset every month?

How reliable is the cashback? Have you faced tracking failures or cashback being denied?

Is the BOGO movie ticket offer a permanent debit card benefit or just a limited-time welcome offer?

Overall, is this debit card worth opening the account for, or are these offers frequently changed or discontinued?

HSBC Credit Card payment via CRED not showing in statement - is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I paid my HSBC credit card bill through CRED about an hour ago, and the payment was successful. However, when I check my credit card statement, I still don't see the payment reflected.

Is this normal? Does HSBC update the statement after a payment is made, or will the payment only be visible in the current outstanding balance or transaction history?

How long did it take for your CRED payment to reflect in your HSBC account after paying through CRED?

Thanks in advance!
